After the morning exercise, students in groups of two or three walked back to the classroom. Seeing Audrey diligently taking notes beside her, Vanessa smirked disdainfully. Opening her notebook, she wasn't jotting down course content but names and phone numbers. She had collected contact information from all the teachers at the training and even struck up a connection with a junior official from the Longji City Education Bureau.
This junior official, in his early thirties and recently married to an unremarkable woman, was mesmerized by Vanessa's beauty. With Vanessa's deliberate charm, he quickly fell for her and promised to help her transfer from the school to a job in the city.
However, Vanessa didn't pin all her hopes on him. She knew that if she could connect with the deputy director of the Education Bureau, her chances would be even better. She planned to leverage this relationship to meet the deputy director, but he kept evading her requests for an introduction.

She was aware of her tarnished reputation at school, seen as a promiscuous woman by male teachers and students. However, she didn't care. In her eyes, Audrey's reluctance to sell herself despite her advantages was naive.
Vanessa believed that loyalty was negotiable for men, depending on the cost of betrayal. As for women, modesty was irrelevant if the rewards of decadence were plentiful. If someone offered Audrey a million dollars for a night, Vanessa doubted Audrey would resist. To her, Audrey's pretense was merely a tactic to elevate her worth and fetch a higher price.
What frustrated Vanessa was Oliver, who fell for this act. Vanessa had to endure a night with Oliver, filled with his foul-smelling semen, to secure her spot at the training. Meanwhile, Audrey did nothing, yet Oliver willingly gave her the opportunity to attend the training.
