Chapter 1669

After a while, the food arrived. Audrey broke off a small piece of bread, grabbed an empty bowl, scooped in some sauce, added a few strips of bacon, and then pushed the rest of the dishes toward Abel. She chuckled softly, "Alright, these are all yours. No wasting, eat it all!"

"I can't eat that much," Abel said weakly.

"You gotta eat it, whether you think you can or not," Audrey said firmly. She knew that with students like Abel, being too polite wouldn't work; giving direct orders was the way to go.

Abel lowered his head and quietly ate his bread. Seeing that Audrey wasn't looking at him, he finally picked up a piece of fatty meat and put it in his mouth. The meat was so delicious, much better than the cafeteria's.

When Audrey finished her meal and looked up, she saw that Abel had cleaned all three plates and was using the last piece of bread to wipe the oil from the bottom of the plate. She didn't say anything, just softly called the waiter and ordered a large bowl of pasta.

When the steaming pasta was brought to the table, Abel couldn't help but tear up again. Audrey was really too kind to him.

The large bowl of pasta was soon gone as well. Abel patted his slightly bulging stomach and burped, feeling a bit embarrassed as he looked at Audrey.

This was the most satisfying meal he had ever had.

Audrey went to the front desk to pay the bill, and suddenly someone came up beside her. She turned her head and saw it was Ethan.

Ethan also saw Audrey and looked awkward. After what happened that night, he had been avoiding her, but who would have thought they would run into each other today?

Audrey smiled slightly and said, "Ethan, what a coincidence. Are you here to eat? By yourself?"

"No," Ethan said, a bit uneasy. "I'm with someone."

Audrey was taken aback and followed Ethan's gaze to see a young girl sitting in the corner. She was quite pretty, wearing a stylish white down jacket. Audrey immediately understood; this was the girl Alissa had introduced to Ethan.

"She looks nice. Ethan, make sure to seize the opportunity," Audrey said with a light smile. "I won't disturb you two. Goodbye."

"Goodbye, Audrey." Ethan watched as Audrey left the restaurant with a young man, feeling puzzled. That guy didn't seem to be Kevin. Who could he be?

He returned to his seat, looking a bit lost. The girl smiled and asked, "Hey, Ethan, who were you talking to just now?"

"Oh, that's a teacher from our office, named Audrey," Ethan replied.

"So that's Audrey," the girl pouted. "She is pretty. Hey, you've been working with her for a while now, haven't you ever thought about her?"

"No," Ethan quickly explained. "Audrey was already married before she came to the school. We're just colleagues."

"Why are you so nervous? I was just joking," the girl smiled. "But I do like your silly look. It's really cute."

Ethan stared blankly at the girl in front of him. Her name was Janna Knight, from the English office. She was considered above average in looks at Sunset Valley High School, with smooth skin and dimples that appeared when she smiled. Her figure was quite attractive, with a well-endowed chest, at least a C cup. She was lively and cheerful, and came from a good family. She seemed like a great match.

But compared to Audrey, Janna seemed to pale in comparison. Of course, such a comparison was unfair. Not every school had a teacher as beautiful as Audrey. Audrey had single-handedly raised the standard of beauty among the female teachers at Sunset Valley High School, causing many male teachers to subconsciously raise their expectations for their future wives.

The waiter brought their food. Ethan had ordered a large and a small bowl of pasta, along with two pickled dishes. Janna gave all the beef from her bowl to Ethan, smiling as she said, "Ethan, you should eat more beef."

Ethan ate silently, his heart filled with mixed emotions. If only Audrey treated him like Janna did, he would die happy.

After they finished eating, Ethan was about to pay the bill, but Janna waved her phone and said, "Let me do it. I have a membership here, so I can get a discount."

"No way, I can't let you pay," Ethan said, feeling a bit embarrassed.

"Why are you being so polite with me?" Janna paid the bill and naturally linked her arm with Ethan's. She was wearing tight jeans, her slim waist and perky buttocks, her high chest, and her delicate face drew envious glances from the other diners. In a small town like Harmony County, Janna was already considered quite attractive.

Ethan looked at Janna's youthful, vibrant smile and smelled her faint fragrance. Suddenly, he felt at ease. A girl like Janna liking him was his good fortune, and he should cherish it. As for Audrey, he would just keep her in the deepest part of his mind.

As they walked out of the mall, Ethan asked Janna where she wanted to go. Janna's eyelashes fluttered as she smiled and said, "I want to see your place, is that okay?"

"There's nothing to see at my place," Ethan said. "It's a mess."

"I still want to go," Janna said playfully and stubbornly. "What, you hiding something? Got pictures of your ex-girlfriend there?"

"No, I've never had a girlfriend," Ethan said, blushing and quickly explaining. "You can ask Alissa."

"Silly, I'm just teasing you," Janna stuck out her tongue. "You don't look like someone who's been in a relationship. We've met several times now, and I should at least know where you live, unless you don't want to date me anymore."

Ethan had no choice but to agree. He went to the sidewalk to get his electric bike. Janna hopped onto the back seat, slipped her hands into Ethan's jacket pockets, and pressed her body against his back. Her ample chest pressed tightly against his back, making Ethan feel a tingling sensation, his lower abdomen heating up, and his dick slowly rising.

"Hold on tight, I'm going to start," Ethan said.

"Okay, I'm holding on," Janna's fingers rubbed against Ethan's lower abdomen through the fabric, making him feel hot all over. His dick grew harder, the tip just inches away from her fingers, yearning to be touched.

Not far away, Fred watched Janna sitting on the back of Ethan's bike with a sweet smile, his face darkening and his heart aching. Janna was the teacher from Sunset Valley High School that Daisy had introduced to him. They had met once and had a pleasant conversation. Encouraged by Daisy, Fred wanted to pursue her, but after their second meeting, Janna suddenly changed her attitude, saying they weren't suitable and asking Fred not to contact her again.

Fred had been feeling down these past few days, not knowing what he had done wrong. But today, seeing Janna with another man, he wanted to confront her but didn't have the courage. They had only met twice and hadn't established a relationship, so he had no right to cause trouble. Besides, Janna had even returned the money for their meals, giving him even less reason to complain.

Watching Ethan ride away with Janna, Fred felt increasingly inferior. Maybe Janna had rejected him because of this man.

He took out his phone, wanting to call Daisy, but his finger hovered over the button for a long time without pressing it. What could he say to Daisy? She had already been kind enough to help him. It was his own fault for not being good enough to compete with others. He decided to let it go.

Audrey and Abel returned to the school. Audrey took Abel to her office, pulled out five hundred dollars, and handed it to him. "Abel, take this money. If it's not enough, ask me for more. Don't do those odd jobs anymore. It's not that they're bad, but your time is precious and should be spent studying."

"Ms. Johnson, I can't take this money," Abel shook his head. Audrey had no obligation to him, yet she bought him a down jacket, treated him to a meal, and now offered him money. Though he was poor, he had his pride and couldn't accept charity, especially from Audrey.

"Take it," Audrey grabbed Abel's hand and placed the money in his palm, smiling slightly. "Consider it a loan. Pay me back when you start earning. Now, hurry back."

"Ms. Johnson, thank you," Abel's tears flowed. Audrey was too kind to him. He vowed to repay this kind-hearted teacher someday.

Watching Abel leave the office with tears in his eyes, Audrey sighed. She helped Abel not only because he deserved sympathy but also because of his tenacious spirit, like a wildflower surviving against all odds. Not every child from the countryside had such resilience.

Most would blame their poor academic performance on their parents, feeling that their parents were incompetent for not providing the same living conditions as city kids. They would even pressure their parents to buy expensive phones and clothes, not caring that it was their parents' hard-earned money.

As a teacher, Audrey liked students with good grades but admired those with noble character even more. She hoped Abel could achieve his dreams.

Seeing it was already past noon, Audrey took out her phone and called Kevin, but no one answered. He was probably soaking in the hot springs with Laura. The thought of them being affectionate made her a bit jealous, but she felt she was being petty. A woman nearing thirty shouldn't be jealous of a young girl.

Suddenly, the door curtain rustled, and Alissa walked in, smiling. "What's wrong? Why do you look so down? Did you have another fight with Kevin? You two are always at odds. Together, you fight; apart, you miss each other."

"No," Audrey blushed. "Kevin went to the hot springs with his classmates."

"Oh, the Egret Hot Springs Hotel in West Stream Town? The TV has been full of their ads lately," Alissa said, sitting on the sofa, her ample chest bouncing and creating an enticing wave. "I heard it's pretty nice. How about we go there for a soak during winter break? This semester has worn me out."
