Seeing everyone's attention on her, Audrey felt a bit uncomfortable with Angus's warmth towards her. She glanced at Kevin beside her, blaming him for the trouble. With so many people around, he should behave.
Lance chimed in, "Angus, you have a way with words, almost like a public servant. Looks like being the Deputy Secretary of the city government suits you well. I always had high hopes for you back in our student days."
This remark helped ease the tension around Audrey. Angus also realized he might have been too attentive to Audrey, likely giving away something to the teacher. He chuckled, "Teacher, are you teasing me? I'm just a lowly deputy serving the leaders, nothing more than a foot soldier."
Trevor quickly praised, "Secretary, you're the youngest deputy at the city government. Here's to you, hoping for even greater heights in the future."
Seeing everyone toasting Angus, Audrey relaxed. She frowned at Kevin, teasingly saying, "If you cause any more trouble, I'll have to call your mom."

Kevin found a topic to chat about with Audrey. She wasn't interested in these gatherings, but it had been a few days since she had seen Kevin. She asked about his studies and Bethany.
