Chapter 1657

Audrey was tidying up her materials in the office. Even though the holidays were coming up, there was still a mountain of work to do as a homeroom teacher, unlike the students who could relax.

By the time she finished, it was almost ten o'clock. She put on her coat, turned off the lights, locked the door, and slowly made her way downstairs. She glanced at the main teaching building across the way, where the lights in the senior classrooms were still on, likely because some boarding students were still studying.

She suddenly thought of Abel. That diligent and shy kid was probably also in the classroom, studying hard. For this boy from a rural area, getting into a good college might be the only way to change his fate.

Audrey compared Abel and Kevin in her mind. They were only a year apart, about the same height, and both had excellent grades. However, Abel was more composed, less talkative, very disciplined, and hardworking. In contrast, Kevin was more impulsive and playful, though he had improved a lot since last semester.

Reflecting on the changes in her relationship with Kevin over the past year, Audrey realized it had progressed rapidly. They went from a typical teacher-student relationship to something ambiguous, then to a sibling-like bond, followed by a few cold wars, and finally, they crossed the line and became lovers.

Audrey wasn't sure how to define her feelings for Kevin. Were they teacher and student, siblings, or lovers? Perhaps it was a mix of all three.

She still saw Kevin as a younger brother who hadn't grown up, unable to rely on him as a true man to depend on for life. After all, Kevin was only sixteen and couldn't take responsibility for her.

Thinking about the stalemate with Jason, Audrey felt conflicted. Although Jason had returned to Harmony County for a few days, it didn't bring her any joy. Instead, she felt a bit resistant and even hoped he would leave soon, which wasn't a thought a wife should have.

Recalling those nights when she secretly got intimate with Kevin behind Jason's back, and even had a threesome with Alissa, Audrey's face flushed. She never imagined she would become so wanton and indulgent.

Perhaps every woman has the impulse to let loose, but most don't meet the man who makes them willing to do so.

Lost in her thoughts, Audrey was suddenly grabbed from behind, a pair of hands wrapping around her waist and squeezing her breasts. She screamed and twisted her body, turning to see that it was Kevin.

"Are you nuts? You scared me to death," Audrey said, still shaken, her face pale. For a moment, she almost called out Ethan's name.

"Audrey, I just wanted to surprise you," Kevin said, holding her waist and blowing into her ear, making her feel weak all over.

"Surprise? More like a scare," Audrey retorted. "Weren't you having dinner with your classmates? Why are you here at school?"

"I saw it was getting late and got worried about you, so I came to pick you up," Kevin said with a grin, his hands roaming over her round, full hips. "Audrey, are you feeling guilty, afraid I'll find out?"

"What would I be guilty about? I've been grading papers in the office all night. You can ask Alissa if you don't believe me," Audrey said, her face reddening as she thought about being hugged and kissed by Ethan in the garden earlier. She felt a bit guilty and instinctively defended herself.

"Really? Let me check your heartbeat," Kevin said, turning her around and reaching to unbutton her coat.

"This is a school," Audrey said, slapping his hand away and nervously glancing at the lit classrooms across the way. "What if someone sees us?"

Kevin finally let go, looking at the teaching building with a thought forming in his mind. He frowned and said, "Oh, I just remembered, there's a problem with one of the questions on the literature exam. It doesn't match the textbook."

"Which question?" Audrey asked seriously. If there was a mistake, it would be a big deal, requiring regrading.

"I can't remember exactly," Kevin said, his eyes darting around. "Audrey, why don't we go to the classroom and check the book?"

"Alright, let's go now," Audrey said, following Kevin to the 57th classroom. The usually bustling room was now empty, with the exam instructions still written on the blackboard and rows of neatly arranged desks.

Kevin went to his seat, pretended to flip through his book, and then awkwardly said, "I was mistaken. The question is fine, it matches the book."

"How foolish," Audrey said, rolling her eyes but feeling relieved. "Alright, let's go home."

Kevin blocked her way, closing the classroom door with a mischievous smile. "Ms. Johnson, class isn't over yet. Why are you leaving?"

"What are you up to now?" Audrey realized she had fallen for Kevin's trick, her face blushing as she tidied her hair. "Let's talk about this at home."

"Home is boring, Ms. Johnson. Let's have a class here."

Audrey hesitated, but with the holidays approaching and Kevin doing well on his exams, he deserved a reward. Sometimes, you had to be strict, but other times, you needed to relax.

Kevin, thrilled that his plan had worked, had always wanted to play a teacher-student game in the classroom but never found the opportunity. Today, his wish was finally coming true.

He went to his seat, arranged his books, sat up straight, and placed his hands on the desk, grinning. "Good evening, teacher."

Audrey took a deep breath, habitually straightening her appearance before slowly walking to the podium. She scanned the room as if she were really teaching, though the large classroom was now empty except for Kevin. The silence was so profound they could hear each other's heartbeats and breathing.

"Good evening, class. Today, we'll study a passage from 'The Old Man and the Sea,'" Audrey said, even without her lesson plan. She knew the material by heart and was confident in her teaching abilities, rivaling anyone, including Alissa. She just lacked experience.

"'The Old Man and the Sea' is a novella by Ernest Hemingway. Though short, it is deeply meaningful. The story revolves around an old Cuban fisherman and his battle with a giant marlin in the Gulf Stream. This novel cemented Hemingway's place in world literature and won the Pulitzer Prize and the 1954 Nobel Prize in Literature."

Audrey wrote the title on the blackboard with chalk, taking the game seriously as if she were really teaching. After all, life was just a game where everyone played different roles.

Kevin sat up straight, listening intently. Watching Audrey speak passionately from the podium, he couldn't help but think of their intimate moments, the stark contrast stirring indescribable feelings within him.

His eyes fell on Audrey's chest, remembering the time she taught without a bra. Feeling a surge of heat, he raised his hand.

Audrey, discussing the author's life, saw Kevin's hand and couldn't help but smile inwardly. Kevin couldn't hold back. She frowned and asked, "Do you have a question?"

"Ms. Johnson, aren't you hot in that coat? Why don't you take it off?" Kevin said with a grin, clearly not interested in the lesson.

"Don't push your luck," Audrey said, glaring at him. "We're in class. Pay attention and don't disrupt the order, or I'll have Ms. Turner make you write a ten-thousand-word essay and announce it to the whole school!"

Though Audrey's tone was stern, the hint of a smile betrayed her enjoyment of the playful, flirtatious game.

"I protest! My suggestion is reasonable, Ms. Johnson. You're just retaliating," Kevin retorted.

"Protest denied!" Audrey said triumphantly. "Whether it's reasonable is for me to decide. Stop arguing and let's continue the lesson."

Seeing Audrey's refusal, Kevin felt frustrated. He wasn't here for a lesson but for a naughty game. He quickly thought of a plan and began writing in his notebook.

Audrey, noticing Kevin writing, frowned. "Kevin, what are you doing? I'm teaching, and you're making a scene?"

"Ms. Johnson, I'm taking notes," Kevin said with a grin. "See for yourself." He held up his notebook, sitting in the front row with his long arms, bringing it right to Audrey's face.

Audrey's face turned red, her ears burning as she saw the drawing of a naked teacher on the podium, with exaggerated breasts and exposed private parts.

A younger, inexperienced teacher might have been shocked, angry, or run to the principal in tears. But Audrey, having been a homeroom teacher for a semester and with Alissa's guidance, quickly composed herself. She smiled and said, "Nice drawing. I hope you become a famous artist, surpassing Van Gogh and Picasso."

Teenage boys often rebel against authority, finding joy in seeing teachers lose their composure. Audrey knew better than to get emotional, as it would only give Kevin a sense of accomplishment.
