Chapter 1629

Evelyn was feeling troubled when suddenly, a light bulb went off in her head. She thought of her sister, Patty. After her divorce, Patty opened a hair salon. Although it had since closed, she still had some experience, which was better than Evelyn blindly investing in something.

With that thought, she immediately called Patty. The phone rang, and Patty answered, panting, "Hey, Evelyn! What's up? Ouch, that hurts a bit."

"What are you doing, Patty?"

Evelyn frowned slightly. The panting made her think of something inappropriate. Even though Patty was divorced and didn't have a boyfriend, she wondered if she had gotten back together with Lawrence. But having sex this early in the morning seemed a bit much.

"I'm at the gym, working out. My trainer is helping me stretch," Patty said with a laugh. "Evelyn, did you think I was having sex with a guy? Do you think I'm that desperate? If I were, it would be at night. Your mind is so unhealthy."

"Stop talking nonsense. Finish your workout and call me back. I need to talk to you." Evelyn hung up, shaking her head in exasperation.

Even though Patty was her sister, their personalities were completely different. Patty was like a wild child. She had a good husband in Lawrence but insisted on getting a divorce, ignoring everyone's advice.

But Evelyn felt she had no right to judge Patty. On the surface, she was a model wife and mother, but behind closed doors, she had an affair with her son's classmate. Although it didn't happen often, they had tried all sorts of things, even having sex in a changing room. The thrill of the affair still made her heart race.

Evelyn couldn't help but recall her first time with Kevin. She remembered how she had bent over, letting Kevin thrust his large penis into her from behind. The sensation of being filled by his impressive size was exhilarating, a pleasure she had never experienced before. She moved her hips to meet his thrusts, her large buttocks slapping against him, sending her into waves of intense orgasms. It was a level of ecstasy she had never felt in her nearly twenty years of marriage.

Every time they had sex, she was insatiable, like a dog in heat, abandoning all her dignity as a wife and mother to enjoy the forbidden pleasure with the sixteen-year-old. When she couldn't see Kevin, she felt an unbearable emptiness. Masturbation was useless, and she tossed and turned every night, her mind filled with thoughts of Kevin's large penis. Sex with her husband, Barrett, became dull and unfulfilling, and she had to imagine he was Kevin to feel any pleasure.

She hadn't seen Kevin for an entire semester, as if he had vanished from her life. She only heard about him through her son, Albert.

One time, Albert told her dejectedly that Kevin was dating the school beauty. Evelyn felt a pang of jealousy. Kevin was only sixteen, full of youth and energy, while she was in her forties, a middle-aged woman. If she hadn't shamelessly seduced him, Kevin might never have slept with her.

Maybe Kevin's choice was the right one. Their relationship should never have happened, and ending it was best for both of them.

As Evelyn was lost in thoughts about her fleeting affair with Kevin, her phone rang. It was Patty calling back.

"Why did you take so long?" Evelyn snapped, feeling irritable. "Didn't you know I was waiting for your call?"

"I was sweating from my workout. I had to shower and change," Patty retorted. "Evelyn, are you fighting with Barrett again? Don't take it out on me. If you're so unhappy, just divorce him."

"Enough. You always have a comeback for everything." Evelyn felt stifled. She didn't have the courage to divorce like Patty, who was in her early thirties and childless, making it easier for her to start over. Evelyn had too much to consider.

"Evelyn, what do you need? I have plans to go to West Stream Town later. There's a new hot spring hotel, and I'm meeting some friends there."

"I want to start a business but don't know what to do. I need your advice." Evelyn explained her thoughts.

"Evelyn, you should've done this ages ago," Patty said with a laugh. "You can't rely on anyone but money. Once you're rich, you'll have men lining up for you. I can find some college students online who need part-time jobs. They're young, know how to please women, and have great stamina. You'll be in heaven."

"Stop talking nonsense." Evelyn blushed, thinking of Kevin. "Seriously, what should I invest in?"

"I'm not sure," Patty hesitated. "The food industry has low barriers but is tough and competitive. Retail requires connections and channels. Maybe you should open a beauty salon. It's not a huge investment, and you can hire someone to manage it while you handle the finances and clients. It's easy."

"You're oversimplifying it," Evelyn said, exasperated. "Do you know how many beauty salons there are in Harmony County? Over ten. How many people here can afford to go to a beauty salon? Talking to you is useless."

"If I'm useless, find someone who isn't. Do you know Natalie?" Patty asked.

"No, who is she?"

Evelyn rarely interacted with people outside her usual routine of grocery shopping and watching romance dramas. She didn't know any of the local celebrities, only the top officials in Harmony County.

"You don't know Natalie? She's the most famous businesswoman in Harmony County." Patty knew a lot about Natalie and shared her story of rising from humble beginnings to becoming a company chairwoman. "Evelyn, she started with less than us. Look at her now, even more successful than Lawrence."

"Really?" Evelyn was amazed. Natalie's story was so legendary it could be a TV show. She wanted to ask Natalie for advice. Sometimes, a single tip from an expert was worth more than days of her own pondering.

"Tell you what, I'll see if I can meet Natalie at the hot spring hotel today. If I get the chance, I'll introduce you. It's better than us guessing blindly."

Patty had been looking for something to do since closing her salon. She didn't want a regular job and found running a business too stressful. Evelyn's desire to start a business gave her the idea to partner up.

"Okay, ask her for me," Evelyn agreed, knowing they needed to understand the market first. After chatting a bit more, she got up to go grocery shopping. Albert had exams coming up, and since he had recently started studying hard, she wanted to make sure he had good nutrition.

"Today, we'll discuss the stability of ecosystems. An ecosystem is constantly changing, but as long as these changes don't exceed certain limits, its structure and function remain stable."

In classroom 57, the elderly biology teacher slowly explained the concepts.

Albert was diligently highlighting key points in his textbook but kept glancing at an empty seat in front of him, feeling worried.

He had arrived at school that morning to find Lucy absent. A phone call revealed she had a fever and a cold, likely from getting chilled in the park last night when he had taken off her coat.

Hearing Lucy's hoarse voice on the phone, Albert felt guilty. It was his fault for not thinking it through. Now, with exams approaching, her illness would surely affect her performance.

After class, Albert signaled to Kevin, and they slipped into the boys' restroom. Albert pulled out two cigarettes, handing one to Kevin.

Kevin took a few puffs and, seeing Albert's worried expression, asked, "Laura said Lucy is sick. Is she okay?"

"Yeah, just a fever. She's taken medicine and is resting at home," Albert replied, blowing out smoke.

"Lucy is usually so healthy. How did she get sick all of a sudden?"

Kevin was puzzled. Lucy was more robust than Laura, always participating in multiple events at school sports meets and doing well in them.

"Maybe she got cold at night," Albert mumbled, not wanting to tell the truth.

"Lucy kicks off her blankets at night?" Kevin laughed. "If you marry her, you'll have to keep covering her up."

"Shut up. I'm already stressed," Albert snapped. "By the way, why didn't you come to the party last night?"
