Chapter 154 You Actually Like Her

On the way home, Kevin and Delilah were chatting away. Delilah was a chatterbox, unlike the quieter Laura. Kevin couldn't help but check her out. Albert was right—Delilah was shorter than Laura but definitely well-developed. Her chest bounced a bit, looking even bigger than Laura's. Kevin thought his hand would fit perfectly around it.

Laura had a slightly pointed, oval face, while Delilah's face was rounder and more oval, with short hair. Her parents both worked, and she had an older brother who was already married. Delilah's grades were about the same as Kevin 's, and she was the class rep for English.

Kevin didn't really talk much with his classmates and had only spoken to Delilah a few times. But during this chat, he found her personality pretty cool. She wasn't drop-dead gorgeous, but she had a cute face, especially with that playful smile showing off her two cute canine teeth. For an average guy, she was quite a catch. But Kevin was used to being around mature women like Audrey, Evelyn, and Vanessa. Even Laura didn't catch his eye as much, let alone Delilah.

When Kevin started high school, his mom, Bethany Harris, had told him to focus on his studies and avoid dating. Kevin also thought relationships were too much hassle and expensive. Given his family's financial situation, he hadn't considered it. While the boys in his class were all chasing after Laura, he just watched the show without joining in.
Delilah, walking alone with a guy at night for the first time, was a bit nervous and kept talking to cover it up. She didn't know much about Kevin since he wasn't very active in class and came from a single-parent family, which made her feel a bit sympathetic towards him.

Seeing Kevin go quiet again, Delilah laughed and said, "Hey, Kevin , do you think Albert can win over Laura?"

Albert's crush on Laura was an open secret in Class 57, but no one believed Laura would fall for him. They were all waiting to see Albert make a fool of himself.

Kevin shook his head and said, "I don't think so. Albert's too lively, and Laura's too quiet. Didn't you notice she didn't sing a single song tonight?"

"Yeah, I noticed. Their personalities don't match," Delilah nodded. "But why did Laura come tonight then? It's confusing. Maybe she's leading Albert on, which would be mean. Albert treats her so well. If it were me, I'd have said yes already."

"I don't think Laura's that kind of person," Kevin said, unsure. Girls' thoughts were hard to read. But hearing Delilah's words, he laughed, "Do you like Albert? I didn't realize."

Delilah blushed and retorted, "So what if I do? I think Albert's great. He sings well, plays basketball well, and is really funny."

Kevin was stunned. He had just said it casually but hadn't expected Delilah to actually like Albert. But Albert was focused on Laura and wouldn't accept Delilah. Feeling awkward, Kevin said, "Why don't you tell Albert? He probably has no idea."

Thinking back to the bar, Kevin realized Delilah often bantered with Albert, probably to get his attention.
"He's got Laura on his mind. I'm not gonna make a fool of myself," Delilah huffed. "I don't see what's so great about Laura. Sure, she's good at school, but why do all the boys like her? I don't think I'm any worse."

Kevin didn't know what to say, so he tried to comfort her, "I think you're prettier than Laura."

"Yeah, right. Even if you don't believe that. Can you be any more fake?" Delilah gave Kevin a disdainful look, then sighed. "I know Laura is prettier. But I still think Albert and Laura aren't a good match."

Suddenly, she brightened up and said, "Kevin , why don't you go after Laura? That way, Albert will give up, and I'll have a chance. Pretty good idea, huh?"

Kevin was speechless. Delilah really dared to speak her mind. But he appreciated her straightforwardness, unlike some girls who pretended to be friendly but schemed behind others' backs. He smiled wryly and said, "You give me too much credit. Laura would never go for me."

"I think you can do it," Delilah said with a grin. "I think Laura likes you a bit. You just haven't noticed."

Kevin 's heart skipped a beat. He stopped and said nonchalantly, "Don't joke about that. It's not funny."

"I'm not joking," Delilah said seriously, "Laura kept glancing at you all night. Her eyes lit up when she looked at you. Girls' eyes only light up like that when they look at someone they like. Trust me, Laura likes you. You just need to try a bit. I can help you."

"No," Kevin said coldly, "Albert is my friend. I can't do that to him. Don't mention it again."
"Fine, but don't regret it later," Delilah said, a bit disappointed. They had reached her house. She said goodbye, and Kevin walked away with mixed feelings. Even if Delilah was right, he wouldn't pursue Laura. He didn't want to compete with Albert, and his mind was full of Audrey. He hoped Albert would win Laura soon.

As Kevin walked, he found himself at Audrey's house. Delilah lived nearby, close to Audrey. Kevin stood at the gate, reminiscing about the night he passionately kissed Audrey there. He felt a surge of emotion and wanted to knock on her door.

But remembering Audrey's words, he restrained himself. Their relationship was at a crossroads, and he couldn't act impulsively. After a moment of hesitation, he turned to leave.

As he walked away, he saw a shadowy figure slip into Audrey's street. The person seemed sneaky, not like a resident. Kevin 's suspicions were aroused. Was it a thief or a bad guy? He ran into the street but couldn't see the figure anymore. Puzzled, he wondered if he had imagined it. Unsure, he debated whether to check on Audrey.

At Sky Hotel, the lights were bright, and tipsy guests stumbled out. Inside, Audrey's dinner was winding down. After Oliver left, everyone seemed more energetic, toasting each other. They drank three bottles of strong liquor, and even Audrey was forced to drink several shots with David. She was tipsy, her face flushed and alluring. The male colleagues were also drunk, talking nonsense. David decided it was time to go home and asked the waiter to bring the bill.

Ethan saw Audrey struggling to walk and wanted to take her home but hesitated, fearing gossip. Vanessa noticed and said with a smile, "Ethan, you're not drunk. Why don't you take Audrey home?"
