Chapter 1136: Physical Satisfaction

However, Audrey's situation differed from Alissa's. Alissa, in her forties, already had children and a stable career with minimal aspirations in life. Occasionally indulging in pleasures was understandable for her. Yet Audrey was different—she was still in her twenties, living separately from her husband Jason, with no children. Their relationship was shaky, and any external interference could trigger marital red flags. Thankfully, Kevin was still a child whose desires could be satisfied with mere physical impulses, devoid of more egregious demands for now.

In recent days, Audrey pondered deeply on the kind of life she truly desired. Whether to maintain a stagnant marriage like Alissa, disregarding her husband's presence while seeking physical gratification elsewhere, or to confront her husband and choose a new path in life. Neither option seemed entirely satisfying, leaving her feeling unsettled. In the end, Audrey decided to set aside these dilemmas temporarily. After all, Jason wouldn't be returning to the city anytime soon, and Kevin would be heading to college in two years. She resolved to follow Alissa's lead and fully immerse herself in the next two years. Once Kevin departed, she would then reconsider her marital situation with her husband.

Having reached this conclusion, Audrey felt a weight lifted off her shoulders. Her expectations of Kevin lowered, and she no longer imposed restrictions on his interactions with other women. Previously, she had prevented Kevin from associating with other women, fearing an impact on his studies and discomfort with the idea of him growing closer to them. Yet, following the incidents involving Vanessa and Natalie, she had an epiphany. She realized that men naturally gravitated towards beauty and understood that she shouldn't hold Kevin to the standards of a boyfriend or husband. Doing so would only lead to unnecessary worry. Furthermore, adolescent boys harbored rebellious tendencies; even biological parents struggled to control them, let alone an elder cousin like herself. Why bother intervening unnecessarily? Pushing Kevin away in such a manner would only benefit Alissa and serve no purpose for herself.

In essence, the concept was simple. However, at times, one's thoughts meandered into a dead end, making it challenging to find a way out. Audrey's perspectives underwent a gradual transformation, much like her view of Vanessa. Following a lengthy conversation with Vanessa the previous afternoon, Audrey suddenly perceived Vanessa as a perceptive individual. Regardless of her methods, Vanessa knew her desires and acted decisively. Audrey felt she lagged behind, often overcomplicating simple matters by desiring everything yet excelling at nothing.

"Mrs. Johnson, a year's plan starts with spring; a day's plan starts with the morning. I must be dim-witted, for the dullard flies first," quipped Kevin with a shake of his head. Familiar with Audrey, he could tell from her demeanor that she was in a good mood—that ice-cold front was absent. He was unaware of the recent events that had transpired.

"All right, stop jabbering. Hurry off to class," Audrey gently instructed, her tone unusually tender, perhaps an attempt to make amends for her prior coldness towards Kevin.

"Goodbye, Mrs. Johnson," Kevin waved before shouldering his backpack and heading towards the classroom. On his way, he spotted Albert walking ahead. Seizing the opportunity, he playfully kicked him in the buttocks.

Albert jumped in surprise, clutching his rear as he turned to Kevin. "Kevin, what are you doing?"

"Albert, why do you look so downcast?" Kevin scrutinized Albert's dark circles and pallid complexion. "Have you been assaulted by some female bandit?"

"Don't talk nonsense," Albert retorted, his expression tensing. "I haven't done anything."

"You, acting nervously like this," Kevin sneered, addressing Albert's unusual behavior. "Have you been abducted by a lascivious woman?"

"Quit it," Albert huffed, visibly agitated. "I haven't done anything."

Ignoring Albert's response, Kevin dismissed him with a wave and made his way to the classroom.

The first class of the day was English, but instead of David, Quentin stood at the front. Noting the puzzled expressions below, Quentin placed his lesson plan on the podium and calmly announced, "Hello, everyone. I have some news to share. Mr. David wasn't feeling well yesterday, so he has tasked me with temporarily overseeing your class and teaching English."

A murmur swept through the room. Kevin was dumbfounded—never did he expect Quentin to be assigned as the homeroom teacher for their class. Given their past animosity, their future interactions promised to be challenging. How would he navigate this situation?

Quentin began to take attendance, noticing Ivan and Laura's cheerful responses as they stood up. When Kevin rose from his seat, Quentin surveyed him with a disdainful look. "You're the English class representative?"

Kevin nodded silently, wary of Quentin's intentions. With a flicker of his eyes, Quentin refrained from further comments, instructing Kevin to sit down before continuing with attendance. After completing the roll call, he furrowed his brow while reviewing the lesson plan. "Oh dear, I seem to have left one of my handouts behind. Who's up for a quick errand to the faculty room? The handouts should be on my desk."

Damn it! Kevin cursed inwardly. It was evident that Quentin's forgetfulness was intentional. He wouldn't believe that Quentin actually forgot something—it was a deliberate ploy to test him. Kevin refused to play along with his games.

Observing Kevin sitting still, Quentin's expression darkened. "Kevin, are you deaf? You're wasting everyone's time. If you don't feel like being the English class representative anymore, speak up. I'll find a replacement right now."

Kevin smirked inwardly, recognizing Quentin's true motives. The man was cunning, attempting to strip him of his English class representative position soon after assuming the homeroom teacher role. Without Alissa in the city, standing up to Quentin would be a disadvantage. Additionally, Quentin was employing the students' authority in the class against him, leaving Kevin no choice. Reluctantly, he sluggishly rose and ambled towards the door.

"Kevin, can you hurry up? You have three minutes. Retrieve the handouts from the faculty room and don't dawdle," Quentin's impatience seeped through as he urged Kevin.

Amidst scattered chuckles in the classroom, mainly from Ivan and his delinquent cohort, Kevin seethed inwardly. He entertained thoughts of giving Quentin a solid punch to his smug face but refrained, knowing he'd fall right into Quentin's trap.

Suppressing his ire, Kevin left the classroom, heading to the office on the second floor. Standing at the entrance of the English faculty room, he announced his arrival.

"Come in," Audrey, engrossed in lesson preparation at her desk, was surprised to see Kevin walk in. "Kevin, what brings you here? Aren't you supposed to be in class?"

Kevin's expression darkened with displeasure as he responded, "Sis, Quentin has taken over as the homeroom teacher for our class, and he asked me to fetch some handouts."

"What? Quentin is your homeroom teacher now? Wasn't Mr. Carter supposed to be your homeroom teacher?" Audrey's eyebrows furrowed in surprise.
