Chapter 658 Birthday Gift
Kevin was suddenly a little embarrassed. He hadn't thought about buying a gift at all, and for a moment, he didn't know what to say. Seeing this, Laura quickly came to Kevin's rescue, saying, "Lucy, why are you asking like that? I asked you all to celebrate my birthday just to have some fun, not to have you buy me gifts."
"Is that so? Someone might be disappointed then," Lucy said with a smile. "I know someone started planning to buy you a gift a month ago. Touching, isn't it?"
"I don't care," Laura frowned. She knew Lucy was referring to Albert. She glanced at Kevin nervously, as if explaining, "I didn't even want to invite him. You insisted."
"Laura, you can't keep avoiding this," Lucy said with a smile. "Albert really cares about you."
At that moment, Daisy, who was in front, smiled and said, "How young you kids are, making things so complicated. By the way, Albert is from the Barrett family, right? I heard Mrs. Garcia say he's smart but lazy. I see Kevin is quite diligent. Maybe he'll surpass Tingting in the final exams this time."
"Don't worry, Mr. Daisy, no one can catch up with Laura's grades," Lucy said with a smile. "Kevin isn't even in the top ten now. No matter how hard he tries, he won't catch up in such a short time."
"Well, you never know. The potential of high school girls is greater than that of boys. They can easily be overtaken if they're not careful," Daisy said with a slight smile, looking at Audrey. "Mrs. Johnson, what do you think?"
"Captain Shu, I don't quite agree," Audrey smiled slightly. "Everyone's situation is different, and it's not accurate to generalize. The idea that girls have less potential than boys is not supported by scientific evidence. As long as everyone studies hard and finds the right methods, they can surpass themselves."
"Mom, Mrs. Johnson speaks so well," Laura said with a smile. "Our goal in studying is not to surpass others, but to surpass ourselves."
"Of course," Daisy said, not angry. She said to Audrey helplessly, "These kids nowadays have unique ideas. I can't control them at all. It's up to you teachers to handle them."
"Captain Shu, everyone has their own expertise," Audrey said. "We just spend more time, so we have more experience than the average person. I believe if you were a teacher, you would definitely be an excellent educator."
"I can't do that," Daisy said with a light laugh. "I'm used to being carefree. Although I often performed on stage in the singing and dancing troupe, I'd rather face thousands of audience members than a few dozen students. It's too exhausting."
"I actually think being a dancer is quite hard," Audrey had a good impression of Daisy, feeling that she was very approachable. She smiled and said, "You have to practice every day, work on your physique. I see you're in good shape now, can't even tell you're over forty."

Audrey felt that Daisy seemed to be hinting at something, thinking about her own situation but not knowing what to say. She could only nod silently.
Meanwhile, Kevin was chatting enthusiastically with two girls behind him. The three of them were in the same study group and were very familiar with each other. Since Kevin's English was weak, Laura and Lucy took turns asking him to memorize words, and if he made a mistake, they would slap his hand.
Audrey watched Kevin and Laura whispering to each other, feeling a bit uncomfortable. Laura was beautiful, close in age to Kevin, and they looked like a perfect match. On the other hand, Audrey was almost thirty and felt out of place standing next to Kevin. Perhaps she shouldn't be with Kevin at all.
Lost in self-pity, Audrey suddenly saw Kevin wink at her through the rearview mirror and make a kissing gesture. This made Audrey blush shyly, quickly lowering her head, too embarrassed to look at Kevin, feeling both flustered and sweet.
"Kevin, you got it wrong again," Lucy laughed and playfully slapped his hand, making Kevin's palm red. Instinctively, he flinched, and Lucy's hand ended up hitting Kevin's crotch, causing a reaction. Kevin gasped as he felt a sharp pain.
Lucy quickly withdrew her hand, blushing. Although she had never been intimate with a boy, she knew what that hard thing was. She was surprised that Kevin's was so big, unlike what many girls had described as being as thick as a finger. Kevin's was much larger, like a carrot. It was truly a monster.
Laura frowned beside them, thinking Lucy was being too rough. Seeing Kevin's painful expression, she leaned in and whispered, "Kevin, are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine," Kevin said, tears almost falling from the pain. He had to endure the intense pain, pretending everything was fine. It was so frustrating because Lucy's slap had landed right on the most sensitive part, nearly making him cry out.
Soon, Daisy parked the car at the school gate. Kevin, Laura, and Lucy got out and walked towards the teaching building, while Audrey headed to the administrative office. After thinking for a while, since she couldn't go home and staying at Kevin's house wasn't convenient, she decided it would be better to apply for a dorm room at the school.
The school did have dorms for young faculty members, but they were usually only provided to single teachers. Married faculty members could apply under special circumstances.
When Audrey started teaching at the school, she was already married, so technically she wasn't eligible to apply for a dorm. That's why she and her husband had bought a small house to live in, not enjoying the school's benefits. Now, she had no choice but to apply to stay in the school dorm.
It was all because of that damn Christopher, Audrey thought irritably. How did she end up with such an annoying neighbor? The main reason was that she was too beautiful, and her husband wasn't at home, which made others covet her.
