Chapter 764 The Trip to Clearbrook (11)
Audrey walked over to the counter, curiously observing the elderly man’s writing. Beside him was a stack of white papers filled with various prescriptions.
"Am I really dealing with fat accumulation?" Audrey wondered. "But I don't have fatty liver. Though, breasts could have fat accumulation since they're mostly fat without bones."
The elderly man looked up and saw Audrey. With a slight smile, he asked, "Since you’ve come to my humble abode, how much do you know about medicine?"
Audrey felt a bit embarrassed and shook her head. "Sir, I know very little about medicine."
"Alright then, let me explain it to you simply," the elderly man nodded, picking up a book bound in traditional style.
"I see," Audrey silently noted his words, thinking, "He truly is an expert. His explanations are so detailed, unlike those of inferior specialists." She listened intently, feeling that her visit was truly worthwhile.
Seeing Audrey's serious demeanor, the elderly man nodded in satisfaction and continued, "If you develop hemorrhoids, which cause local redness, swelling, pain, yellow urine, and a yellow tongue coating, or fever, these are symptoms of heat. In such cases, using honeysuckle and chrysanthemum can cure it, indicating that these herbs have cooling properties."
Audrey's eyes lit up. "Sir, does that mean if we understand the properties of various herbs, we can treat cold diseases with hot herbs and hot diseases with cold herbs? In other words, applying the principle of 'treating heat with cold and cold with heat' appropriately to the condition?"
"You're quite teachable," the elderly man laughed heartily. He had lived in Clearbrook for a long time with no one to discuss medicine with, feeling a sense of sorrow. Today, encountering such a keen listener, he felt a surge of joy and a desire to impart all his knowledge.
Audrey smiled slightly, thinking, "This elderly man is indeed knowledgeable and well-read. His understanding of traditional medicine is profound. This trip is truly worthwhile. Not only can I get treated, but I can also learn some medical knowledge." She became more engrossed, forgetting about Bethany and Kevin outside, even forgetting her husband Lucas in Starhaven, and her own illness, as she immersed herself in the ocean of knowledge.
Seeing the beautiful woman listening attentively, the elderly man became even more spirited, eager to display all his knowledge.
The elderly man spoke eloquently, effortlessly drawing from his deep understanding of traditional medicine. Audrey found herself increasingly fascinated. What she once thought was dull now seemed quite interesting. If she could learn a bit about traditional medicine, she could handle emergencies at school, where there were many students. In case of special situations, she could provide first aid even if a doctor wasn't available.
Seeing Audrey's elegant smile, the elderly man felt an unprecedented excitement and passion.
He hadn't discussed medicine with anyone for a long time and now spoke endlessly, wishing to share all he knew. Unfortunately, Audrey was getting overwhelmed. The professional terms alone were too much for her, let alone the profound theories.
Indeed, every field has its experts. For an outsider, it would take years to even begin to understand.
Time passed, and the elderly man discussed many topics, asked about her condition, and prescribed medicine. When Audrey wanted to leave, he insisted on telling her more. Audrey felt frustrated but had no choice but to continue listening to his lengthy explanations.
Outside, Bethany looked at the window, feeling puzzled. "Why hasn't she come out after nearly half an hour? Could something be wrong?" She paced anxiously, wondering if there was an issue. She had seen this doctor several times without problems. Other women were also growing impatient, complaining, "Why isn't she out yet? It's been so long. This is ridiculous."
"Shh, keep it down. This doctor has a terrible temper. If she hears you, she might not treat you."
Inside, Audrey regretted her curiosity. "Why did I have to ask so many questions?" she thought. Now, she felt trapped, unable to leave, feeling utterly frustrated.
Her mind wandered to Kevin, Bethany, and then her husband Lucas. She looked out the window, wondering what Lucas was doing. "Does he miss me?"
On a highway outside Starhaven, Lucas was driving a large truck, yawning repeatedly. He had driven all night and had just fallen asleep when his boss called, giving him an urgent delivery job for a thousand dollars.
Despite his fatigue, Lucas agreed, as it was much more money than he could make in the city. But after a while, he felt his eyelids getting heavy, his mind foggy with sleep. Although the pay in Starhaven was high, the work was exhausting and stressful, not something everyone could handle.
"Jason, are you tired? Want me to sing for you?" A sweet fragrance wafted from the passenger seat, snapping Lucas awake. He glanced over to see a figure with long hair, heavy makeup, fair skin, and long legs, making his blood boil.
But Lucas couldn't get aroused, because the person next to him, who looked like a beautiful young woman, was actually a gay man named Trevor. Despite his macho name, Trevor acted effeminately and dressed flamboyantly. Ever since Lucas arrived in Starhaven, Trevor had been clinging to him, much to his annoyance.
Seeing Trevor's flirtatious smile, Lucas felt goosebumps all over. He quickly shook his head, "No, thanks. I'll just chew some gum."
"Let me feed you," Trevor said, batting his eyelashes and pushing a piece of gum into Lucas's mouth. Then he reached over and groped Lucas's crotch, giggling, "Jason, want me to give you a blowjob?"
Lucas spat the gum onto the windshield with such force it almost cracked. He quickly hit the brakes and said, "No, just keep your hands to yourself."
"Don't be scared. I'll be gentle," Trevor said, licking his lips seductively. "Jason, my tongue is very skilled. I promise you'll enjoy it."
"No, really, that's not necessary," Jason said, feeling a wave of nausea. Trevor was his boss's brother-in-law, placed there to keep an eye on him. He couldn't suggest transferring Trevor elsewhere. "I just have to endure this," he thought. "If only Audrey could visit sooner." The thought of Audrey excited him. "Audrey, what are you doing? Do you know I'm thinking about your big breasts?"
"Alright, sir, I have some matters to attend to. I need to go," Audrey said, unable to bear the elderly man's endless lecture on traditional medicine.
"Ah, leaving so soon?" The elderly man looked disappointed as he watched Audrey walk towards the door, sighing with a sense of loss.
