Chapter 810: The Trip to Starhaven**

Audrey smiled slightly, "I need to go to Mountvale and I'm trying to get a cab."

Harry nodded, gave the driver a long look, and then tapped on the window, saying, "I happen to be heading to Mountvale as well. Would you like me to give you a ride?"

Audrey was more than happy to accept. There was no safer place than a police car. She quickly grabbed her suitcase and got into Harry's car.

Once inside, Harry glanced at Audrey sitting in the backseat and said calmly, "Are you sure everything was fine just now? Starhaven is different from other places. It has a large transient population and a complicated security environment. A single woman like you is a prime target for criminals. It's best not to travel alone at night and avoid taking unregulated cabs. Just last night, there was a case in Mountvale where a black cab driver raped a female passenger. That driver just now seemed suspicious. Are you sure he wasn't going to harm you?"

"No, he really was going to take me to Mountvale," Audrey said nervously. "Thank you, officer."

"No need to thank me. It's our duty."

Harry smiled and looked at Audrey's beautiful face in the rearview mirror. He thought to himself that the saying "the smarter the woman, the easier she is to deceive" might be true. A woman as pretty as Audrey daring to take a black cab alone at night could easily be targeted by criminals. Even if the driver wasn't a bad person, he might still have bad intentions towards such a beautiful woman.

Harry soon dropped Audrey off and hesitated for a moment before saying, "Where exactly do you need to go? I'll take you directly. It's too late now, and it's dangerous for you to walk alone."

Audrey didn't want to trouble him, but seeing the dark, empty street outside with no streetlights, she felt scared. She might not be lucky enough to encounter a police car again if she ran into trouble. So she gave Harry her husband's address.

Harry drove through several twists and turns before arriving at the entrance of a large courtyard. He smiled and said, "Look, there's not a soul on this road. Even I'm scared. How could you not be? Don't be so bold next time. By the way, let me give you my number. If you ever run into any trouble, you can call me."

"Okay, thank you," Audrey said, noting down Harry's phone number. She got out of the car, retrieved her suitcase from the trunk, and waved goodbye.

Harry watched Audrey's graceful figure disappear into the courtyard, reluctantly tearing his gaze away. He lit a cigarette and took a deep drag. He hadn't expected to encounter such a beautiful woman late at night. Unfortunately, she seemed to be married, or it would have been a great opportunity to end his single life. Suddenly, his phone rang. Seeing the number, Harry's expression changed. He quickly flicked the cigarette out the window and answered, "Captain, this is Harry."

"Harry, according to intelligence, there will be a drug deal tonight at midnight in a warehouse on the outskirts of Starhaven. Report back immediately!"

"Understood!" Harry's heart tightened. For the past six months, a new type of drug had been appearing in Starhaven's bars and clubs, drawing police attention. Through interrogations and investigations, they had identified a criminal gang selling the drug. The gang was very cunning and elusive. The police had gone to great lengths to plant an informant, and tonight was the first time they had received intel from him. This operation was crucial for the police.

Harry closed the car window, still faintly smelling the woman's scent left by Audrey. He shook his head, thinking wryly that police work was inherently dangerous, and even more so for narcotics officers. Even if a beautiful girl liked him, he wouldn't dare accept her. He'd better wait a few more years until he could transfer to a less risky position.

Audrey walked into the courtyard with her suitcase and called her husband, Lucas. "Lucas, I'm in the neighborhood. Come downstairs and get me. My legs are tired from all the walking."

Audrey said with a hint of a pout. After a whole day of traveling, she was a bit annoyed at her husband. She had come all this way to visit him, but he was busy at this critical moment.

"Honey, I might not be able to come back tonight. The boss has an urgent delivery for me," Lucas said. "I'll have someone come to pick you up. You can settle in first. I'll be back in the morning."

"Alright, Lucas. Drive safely tonight. Don't go too fast," Audrey said, worried. She knew her husband drove for a big boss, but she didn't know the specifics.

She hung up the phone and walked into the courtyard with her small black suitcase. Under the streetlights, a group of shirtless men were playing cards, shouting loudly.

"Hey, beautiful, who are you looking for? Is it me?" A pot-bellied man stood up and asked.

At that moment, a small man hurried over and said to Audrey, "Are you Lucas's wife? I'm George. I share a room with Lucas. He just called me to come and get you." He picked up Audrey's suitcase and led her to a nearby building.

The pot-bellied man laughed and said, "George, is this your girlfriend? Introduce her to us."

George quickly explained, "This is Lucas's wife, visiting him. Stop teasing. Let's go, ma'am."

Audrey blushed and followed George up the stairs, her long legs and curvy figure making the men stare in awe.

"Damn, Lucas is usually so quiet, but his wife is stunning," the pot-bellied man said enviously. "All the good ones are taken."

"That's what they say: 'A beautiful wife often sleeps beside a foolish husband,'" someone else said, shaking his head. "Look at that figure, those hips, those breasts. Lucas is in for a good time. I bet he'll do it at least three times tonight."

"Three times? That's nothing," someone else said. "If it were me, I'd do it seven or eight times. Did you see those breasts? They're like melons. Just looking at them got me hard."

"What's the point of getting hard?" The pot-bellied man said, lowering his voice. "Lucas isn't coming back tonight. If you have the guts, sneak in and have a go. I bet she won't resist. She looks like the type who might have already cheated on her husband. What's the difference who does it?"

"Stop giving bad ideas. Why don't you go? If Lucas finds out you're after his wife, he'll kill you. He's not someone to mess with. Last time, someone joked about his wife while playing cards, and Lucas almost started a fight."

"What's the big deal? It was just a joke," the pot-bellied man sneered.

"Alright, enough of this nonsense," another person said, tossing his cards aside. "We might as well go home and take care of ourselves instead of talking crap here. What does it matter to us how good his wife is? Let's go."

The group laughed and dispersed.

Audrey followed George into a room on the second floor. The room was a mess, with two single beds, a cluttered table by the window piled with random items like empty cigarette boxes, bowls, mosquito coils, and an electric stove. Beer bottles littered the floor, and the room reeked of sweat and moldy food, making Audrey feel nauseous.

"Why is it so messy!" Audrey frowned, thinking her husband should have cleaned up knowing she was coming. It seemed he didn't care about her at all.

"Ma'am, please sit down. I'll get a broom to clean up," George said, feeling embarrassed. They were all men and never cleaned, but who would have expected such a beautiful woman to show up in the middle of the night?

After George left, Audrey looked around and saw several posters of Hong Kong and Taiwan actresses in swimsuits on the walls. The areas around their breasts and lower bodies were blackened, clearly from frequent touching. Audrey blushed, wondering if her husband masturbated to these posters. She felt a sudden wave of guilt for Lucas.

Lucas could have afforded a better place with his earnings in Starhaven, but he chose to live here to save money. He often sent money home, and Audrey realized she had been selfish, never considering things from his perspective.

George soon returned with a mop and broom, sweeping up the trash and mopping the floor. Audrey also got busy, wiping down the table and throwing away useless items. Soon, the room was much cleaner, and the foul smell was gone.

Now it felt like a place to live. Audrey was finally in Starhaven. She looked around the refreshed room, satisfied, and wiped the sweat from her forehead. Her full, heaving chest almost burst from her clothes. If the men downstairs saw this, their imaginations would run wild again.
