Chapter 1566
Kevin walked back to Audrey's place, but the house was completely dark. It struck him as odd for her to be asleep this early. Stepping into the bedroom, he realized Audrey was missing. It was well past ten, and he couldn't fathom why she hadn't shown up yet. Just as he was about to dial her number, Laura called, so he took the time to catch up with her first.
After wrapping up her shift at the school around 8 p.m., Audrey made her way home under the dark sky. She glanced up and noticed the principal's office light still on up on the third floor. Knowing Oliver was still burning the midnight oil, she hesitated, remembering Alissa's warning. Deciding to make a quick stop at the liquor store near the school gate, she picked up two packs of cigarettes and some coffee beans before heading straight to the third floor, knocking on the door.
"Come in," Oliver's gruff voice called from inside.
Audrey took a deep breath, nudged the door open, and found Oliver at his desk, wearing glasses and poring over paperwork. The ashtray in front of him was overflowing with cigarette butts, filling the room with smoke. She couldn't help but cough.
"Ms. Johnson," Oliver glanced up, pleasantly surprised to see Audrey. He quickly stood and turned on the exhaust fan. "Sorry about the smoke. I tend to doze off at night, so I smoke to stay awake. Coffee doesn't help. What can I do for you?"
Audrey gently set the cigarettes and coffee beans on a nearby table and said, "Mr. Jones, with the new year around the corner, I wanted to thank you for supporting me at work. This is just a little something to show my appreciation."
"You're too kind. Take a seat and catch me up on how things have been going at work lately. How's the gig as a homeroom teacher treating you this semester?" Oliver tried to play it cool. It was a first for Audrey to reach out, even if just with smokes and coffee beans. Maybe Vanessa's return had stirred something in Audrey, sparking a shift in her demeanor. Despite Audrey's usually aloof attitude, Oliver knew she had her ambitions and desires.
"It's been alright. Had a bit of a rough start, but Ms. Garcia's been a huge help," Audrey shared her experience as a homeroom teacher openly.
Oliver nodded thoughtfully, his gaze lingering on Sunset Valley High School's youngest and most stunning female teacher. Audrey, in her white sweater and short coat, exuded a slender and captivating charm. Her crossed legs highlighted her curvy backside in jeans, and her simple hairstyle showcased her lovely face. Oliver couldn't help but notice her magnetic presence, especially her ample chest that even bulky winter clothes couldn't conceal.
Recalling the enchanting moment from their work trip to Starfall Town, Oliver felt a sudden dryness in his mouth. He instinctively reached for the water Audrey had poured and took a few sips, then froze.
Audrey was caught off guard by Oliver's move. She trailed off, locking eyes with him, sensing a thick tension building in the office, like something was about to happen.
"Mr. Jones, it's getting late. I should head out. I won't keep you any longer," Audrey felt uneasy under Oliver's intense stare. She regretted stopping by impulsively. Yet, with the school bustling during the day, meeting Oliver privately seemed necessary, even if it risked stirring up scandalous gossip. Despite it all, she needed to express her gratitude to Oliver for resolving the staff apartment issue.
As Audrey rose, her chest swaying, Oliver's suppressed desire suddenly surged. He pounced, pushing her down onto the couch. Audrey's vibrant figure drew him in like a magnet, igniting an uncontrollable urge. His long-dormant desire stiffened, pressing against his pants.
"Oh, Mr. Jones, what are you doing? Let me go," Audrey pleaded, kicking and shoving at Oliver's shoulders. "No, this can't happen."
"Audrey, I know you want this too," Oliver murmured, clutching Audrey's curvy form as if he held the world in his arms. He gasped, "I won't push you. Just let me kiss you. Think about it. Since you arrived at Sunset Valley High School, have I ever treated you poorly? You're special to me. I can't resist touching you. If your husband were around in Harmony County, I wouldn't dare. But he's not here, and you're young and deserve attention from a man. I want to protect and cherish you, Audrey. Give me a chance. I'll adore and protect you. I can give you whatever you desire, even help you advance to the district education bureau."
"Mr. Jones, please, no."
Despite his physical desire for her, Oliver had never coerced Audrey and had presented her with numerous opportunities. He stood apart from Quentin, possessing the wisdom and allure of a mature man. If Kevin hadn't entered her life, Audrey might have been swayed by Oliver's affection. But her heart and soul belonged to the young man, Kevin. She couldn't give herself to anyone else. "We can't do this. I'm married and can't betray my husband. I'm not like Vanessa. I don't want to work at the district education bureau."
"Not going is fine. Audrey, as long as I'm principal, I'll look out for you. Titles, positions, housing – you don't have to worry. I'll handle everything for you," Oliver insisted, holding Audrey tightly. "No, Mr. Jones, let me go. I'll call for help," Audrey trembled, her eyes filled with humiliation and shame. She wanted to cry out but feared causing a scene. If word got out, she might lose her job at Sunset Valley High.
"Audrey, call for help. I don't care. Even if I lose my position as principal at Sunset Valley High School, I won't regret it as long as I can kiss you," Oliver's passion surged like never before. Gone was the weariness of a middle-aged man; his eyes sparkled with fervor, his breathing heavy, his heart pounding.
"Let me go, this can't happen," Audrey felt helpless. She never imagined her impulsive decision would lead to such a dire situation. Was she about to be violated by Oliver tonight? In that moment, she thought of Kevin's sunny face. A wave of sadness washed over her. If she were to be defiled by Oliver, how could she face Kevin?
Seeing Audrey hesitate to call for help, Oliver reached to unbutton her clothes. If he could undo her sweater, he would have access to her coveted breasts.
"No, absolutely not," Audrey's expression turned resolute. She clutched her pants pocket tightly, biting her lip. "Mr. Jones, if you do this, I'll off myself."
