Chapter 795: The Clash at the Restaurant

Originally, Doris wanted to find a restaurant in the commercial street nearby, where there were many options. However, Kevin and Audrey didn’t feel like walking, so they went to delicious Restaurant under the Electric Power Bureau building. This restaurant had been around for over ten years, run by a former chef from the Electric Power Bureau's cafeteria, and business was booming.

The four of them entered delicious and found a private room on the second floor. A waitress threw a menu on the table and said expressionlessly, "What would you like to order?"

Smiling, Doris handed the menu to Audrey. "Mrs. Johnson, you’re our guest. Please, order whatever you like."

Mitchell, grinning, added, "Yes, Mrs. Johnson, don’t be shy. We’re all like family here. Order anything you want. Consider this a way to get to know each other better."

Kevin glanced at him, thinking, "Who the hell is family with you? If it weren’t for my cousin pleading earlier, I wouldn’t care about your fate."

"Just order something simple. No need to spend too much," Audrey said after glancing at the menu, then handed it to Kevin. "Why don't you order?"

Taking the menu, Kevin looked at Doris and asked, "Sis, is this your treat or his?"

Before Doris could respond, Mitchell quickly said, "Of course, it’s my treat. Order whatever you like, little brother. Don’t hold back."

"Really? Then I won’t be polite," Kevin said with a sly grin, thinking he wouldn’t let Mitchell off easily. He pointed at the first item on the menu, "Salmon..."

He went on to order more than a dozen dishes. Mitchell’s face turned pale. While delicious wasn’t the city’s best restaurant, it wasn’t cheap either. The total would be at least $5,000. He had hoped to spend no more than $200, but this high school kid was ruthless, treating him like a fool.

Audrey frowned, tugging Kevin's arm in disapproval. "Why did you order so much? There are only four of us. Half of that would be enough."

"Sis, didn’t he say to order freely? If I order too little, he might think I don’t consider him family. The more I order, the happier he should be," Kevin said with a mischievous smile, looking at Mitchell. "Isn’t that right, brother?"

"Yes, little brother is right. Mrs. Johnson, don’t be polite. This is nothing," Mitchell forced a smile, though he was bleeding inside. He thought that spending a few thousand dollars to impress Audrey might be worth it, so he gritted his teeth and bore it.

But Kevin wasn’t done yet. He turned to Doris and said, "Sis, since we’re so happy today, how about some wine?"

"Sure, but I can’t handle strong liquor. And what’s a kid like you drinking? Mrs. Johnson, what would you like to drink?" Doris asked with a smile. She saw through Kevin’s intention to make Mitchell spend money, but she was also dissatisfied with Mitchell’s behavior today. She thought it might be good for him to lose some money as a lesson.

"I’ll just have water," Audrey smiled, subtly pinching Kevin’s thigh to stop his antics.

"Then let’s have two bottles of red wine," Kevin said, wincing in pain from Audrey’s pinch. He pointed to the most expensive wine on the menu.

"Alright," the waitress, seeing the large order, became much more courteous and brought over a pot of tea.

Mitchell eagerly poured tea for Audrey, set up the tableware, and kept chatting with her, almost ignoring Doris.

Kevin watched with a cold smile. This guy was eyeing his cousin, but he was just a toad lusting after a swan. He leaned over to Doris and whispered, "Sis, when did you get a boyfriend? I didn’t know."

"Just a few months ago," Doris replied with a smile. "Why should I report to you? Who are you to me?"

"I’m just concerned about you, afraid you might get deceived," Kevin said, glancing at Mitchell. "Do you know his background? Don’t let him trick you."

"You’re talking nonsense," Doris said, displeased. "Kevin, Mitchell might have been wrong today, but he already apologized to your cousin. Don’t hold a grudge. After all, he’s my boyfriend now, and I’m not stupid."

Seeing Doris dismiss his concerns, Kevin felt helpless. Maybe women in love were blind and wouldn’t listen to others, especially a high school student like him whose words carried little weight.

Mitchell, noticing the awkward atmosphere, told a few jokes and shared some local news, making the two women laugh and easing the tension. His demeanor was completely different from the timid man in front of the police earlier.

"Not to brag, but my seafood store may look small, but it easily brings in thousands a day. I make at least seventy to eighty thousand a year. Next year, I plan to open two more branches. In a few years, I’ll be the king of the seafood industry in this city," Mitchell boasted, his eyes constantly darting to Audrey’s figure.

Audrey, in a light blue dress, with a slim waist and full thighs exposed under the skirt, high heels, and shoulder-length hair, looked enchanting. Her mature, alluring body made Mitchell’s heart race, especially her ample breasts, which made him swallow hard. His lower body reacted strongly.

In reality, Mitchell was lying. He hadn’t even finished high school, dropping out after middle school to work in a bearing factory. Finding the work too hard, he borrowed money from his parents to start a business. He opened a game arcade, but it was shut down on the first day due to a county crackdown. He then tried selling vegetables and eventually opened a small seafood store, barely making two to three thousand a month.

His family’s finances were drained, and he was in debt. Relatives introduced him to Doris, who, though working as an arcade admin, was pretty and from a well-off family. Mitchell planned to marry her and borrow money from her parents to cover his debts. However, Doris was conservative, only allowing hand-holding and hugs, insisting on waiting until marriage for anything more, which frustrated Mitchell.

Watching Mitchell boast, Kevin was furious, wanting to stuff his mouth with dirt to shut him up. He didn’t believe Mitchell could make seventy to eighty thousand a year. He frequented the square and knew there were many seafood stores. Few people could afford seafood in this city, so Mitchell had to be lying.

Kevin worried Doris might be deceived and pondered how to expose Mitchell. But seeing Doris’s attitude towards Mitchell, he realized they had feelings for each other. Without solid evidence, Doris might think he was trying to stir trouble, so he decided to bide his time.

Doris excused herself to the restroom, and Mitchell took the opportunity to pull out his phone, grinning, "Mrs. Johnson, can I get your number? I’ll give you a discount on fish. I’ll save some for you during the holidays."

"Sure," Audrey’s eyes lit up. She liked fish, and it was hard to find good ones during the holidays. Getting a discount would be great.

Seeing Audrey take out her phone to exchange numbers, Kevin quickly grabbed her hand, smiling, "Brother, my cousin is too busy to buy fish. Give me your number instead. I’ll handle the fish."

He then gave his number to Mitchell.

Mitchell, annoyed but hiding it, forced a smile, "Sure, Mrs. Johnson, you and your cousin are really close, like a bodyguard. Little brother, I’m not a bad person. No need to be so wary. People might think you’re her boyfriend, haha."

Audrey blushed and glanced at Kevin, explaining, "Don’t misunderstand. Kevin just likes to joke. You can still have my number."

She gave her number to Mitchell.

Seeing Kevin’s dark expression, Audrey smiled and gently held his hand, calming him down. Kevin, feeling her warmth, relaxed, placing his hand on her thigh and whispering in her ear, making her laugh, her chest heaving.

Mitchell, seeing Audrey’s enchanting smile, was captivated. He had never seen such a beautiful woman and was determined to win her over, unaware that Kevin now saw him as a dangerous enemy, making the atmosphere tense.

Doris returned, seeing Kevin and Audrey whispering, and joked, "Kevin, you and Mrs. Johnson are really close, like a pair of…"

Kevin’s heart skipped, and he asked nervously, "Sis, like what?"

"Like a pair of siblings," Doris said, smiling at Audrey. "Isn’t that right, Mrs. Johnson?"
