He initially wanted to tell Audrey about Sean's frequent visits to the red-light district, but he reconsidered since he had no concrete evidence. Moreover, many boys from the school had been there, and he himself had been curious about it at one point. If he hadn't been short on money, he might have joined his classmates in exploring that area. However, after getting involved with Alissa, he no longer had any interest in those places.
He certainly didn't want Audrey to know about his familiarity with such places. After all, to many uninformed people, a salon was just a slightly upscale barbershop. It was only under Albert's guidance that he learned those scantily clad girls in the salons were not just there to cut hair.
"You're talking nonsense again," Audrey said, a bit annoyed. "Do you think every man who approaches me has bad intentions? I think the one with the worst intentions is you. If that's the case, I should be most wary of you. You should go home and sleep tonight."
With that, she ignored Kevin and walked ahead.
Although Audrey wasn't as adept at reading men's intentions as Vanessa, she interacted with her students daily and could see through Sean's thoughts quite clearly. In her view, Sean and Kevin were similar, both going through a restless phase of adolescence, curious about the opposite sex and eager to get closer to beautiful women.
As an English teacher who frequently interacted with Sean, it was natural for him to see her as the prime target to satisfy his curiosity. Kevin had ended up having a relationship with Alissa for the same reason. Of course, Audrey wasn't as desperate as Alissa, and Sean didn't have Kevin 's boldness or luck, so their relationship remained strictly teacher-student without any breakthroughs.
Because of this, Audrey had always known about Sean's crush on her but chose not to expose him. Instead, she carefully maintained a professional relationship with him, neither overly enthusiastic nor deliberately distant, hoping he would focus on his studies. As long as Sean didn't make any extreme moves, she would pretend to be unaware. However, judging by Sean's recent behavior, it seemed he wanted to get closer to her. Fortunately, Kevin acted as a shield; otherwise, rejecting Sean would have been tricky.
Seeing Audrey suddenly get angry, Kevin was taken aback. He quickly caught up to her and, after much coaxing, managed to turn her anger into laughter, no longer holding a grudge against him.
"Kevin , be honest with me. When you gave me a ride to get my shoe fixed, were you genuinely trying to help, or did you have ulterior motives?" Audrey suddenly asked. At that time, Kevin didn't know she was his cousin and wasn't even her student. How could he have been so eager to help? Although it seemed irrelevant now, she still wanted to know his true intentions.
"I did want to get close to you, but if it had been another teacher in trouble, I would have helped just the same," Kevin replied frankly. He saw no reason to hide his intentions, as he had never concealed his feelings for Audrey from the start.
"Really?" Audrey looked at him with a scrutinizing expression, trying to see through his heart.
"Cousin, I'm telling the truth. I can swear to it," Kevin said seriously, raising his hand. "If I'm lying, may I be struck by lightning?"
"Alright, stop fooling around," Audrey quickly pulled his hand down, feeling a bit helpless. "I believe you. Just don't make oaths lightly."
In her heart, Audrey believed Kevin . She remembered how she had given him a biology lesson after catching him spying on her naked. He had bluntly said he wanted to have sex with her, and she had naively tried to guide him to handle his adolescent urges properly. But in the end, she got entangled herself.
Perhaps she had accepted Kevin back then because of his honesty and straightforwardness. Though sex and love are not the same, they are sometimes hard to distinguish. Some people love because of sex, while others have sex because of love. For Kevin , wanting to have sex with someone he liked was the most sincere confession.
Thinking about this, Audrey couldn't help but hold Kevin 's hand tightly. Even though she wasn't ready to have sex with him yet, she didn't want to disappoint his genuine affection. More than the physical contact that made her blush, she cherished the warm feeling of holding hands with him.
Kevin appeared calm on the surface, but inside, he was overjoyed. Audrey was becoming more intimate with him, not just physically but emotionally. He could feel that her heart was slowly opening up to him, unlike before when even holding her warm, mature body, he could sense her inner coldness and resistance. Now, the ice queen was finally beginning to melt.
