Chapter 694 The Final Exam

In the following days, Kevin, as usual, started to study seriously, and soon it was time for the final exams.

The final exams began, starting with English, which was Kevin's strong suit. Getting a good grade wasn't difficult, but the challenge was to surpass August and become the top student in the sophomore year. Currently, Kevin and August's English grades were close, so it all depended on who performed better.

Kevin quickly skimmed through the paper and had a rough idea. The knowledge questions at the beginning were no problem, but to outshine August, he needed to ace the essay at the end, worth a whopping forty points.

In less than half an hour, he finished the initial questions and started brainstorming for the essay titled "An Unforgettable Experience." While it seemed easy to write about, capturing the essence to impress the teacher was a challenge. Kevin struggled to come up with a fresh start, recalling the exam tips Alissa and Audrey had shared during tutoring sessions. Feeling stuck after several unsuccessful attempts, time slipped away, with other students busy writing while Kevin was still blanking out.

The exam proctor happened to be Audrey, dressed in a sky-blue t-shirt and tight jeans that accentuated her curves, drawing the attention of male students.

Audrey patrolled the exam room, noticing Kevin lost in thought. Frowning, she walked over, lightly tapping his desk to urge him to continue. Catching sight of Audrey's beauty and recalling their interactions, Kevin suddenly found inspiration and began writing swiftly.

"This guy is so out of line, daydreaming during an exam," Audrey thought to herself, feeling the urge to scold Kevin. However, being in the middle of an exam, she could only shoot him a disapproving look before walking back to the podium and softly reminding everyone, "There's one hour left before the exam ends, make good use of your time."

With half an hour left until the end of the exam, Kevin raised his hand, prompting Audrey to ask, "What's the matter?"

"Teacher, I want to turn in my paper," Kevin said with a grin.

"What? You've finished so quickly?" Audrey was surprised. It was rare for students to turn in their English exams early, especially considering the time-consuming essay. She couldn't believe Kevin had finished so swiftly; was he just scribbling nonsense?

Other students, including Laura, were also surprised by Kevin's announcement. Even Laura put down her pen, looking concerned as she watched Kevin, wondering how he could finish so early.

"I'm done," Kevin rubbed his stomach. "I have a stomach ache and need to use the restroom."

"You don't have to rush to turn in your paper. I'll find a male teacher to accompany you," Audrey said helplessly, concerned that Kevin might be unwell.

"It's okay, teacher. I really finished," Kevin handed his paper to Audrey, then swaggered towards the door.

Audrey was furious. "This guy is so irresponsible." Once Kevin left the classroom, she picked up his paper and was surprised to find that he had answered all the objective questions correctly. As she skimmed through the subjective questions, she realized Kevin's responses were excellent, with hardly any room for deductions.

It seemed Kevin wasn't randomly answering questions. Audrey's initial annoyance faded as she read Kevin's essay, which turned out to be about the time he accompanied her to the water park. Despite his early submission, the essay was exceptionally well-written, filled with genuine emotions and eloquent expressions, truly a high-scoring piece.

"This guy..." Audrey's face reddened. Despite feeling that Kevin's early submission was inappropriate, she had to admit his English skills were impressive. Back in her high school days, she couldn't match his abilities, especially in essay writing. Some things were just innate talents, and Kevin was undoubtedly gifted.

But why did he have to include himself in the essay? Audrey bit her lip, her eyes flickering with a mix of anger and amusement.

As Kevin exited the exam room, he saw August, a long-haired guy in a white shirt, stepping out from the neighboring classroom. Surprised by August's early submission, Kevin realized he had a tough competitor. This time, he was determined to prove himself as the top English student in the school.

August noticed Kevin and approached him, saying, "Kevin, you're out too. Seems like you did well."

"Just so-so, third in the world," Kevin chuckled. "No matter how well I do, I can't beat you. You're the English genius of our school. By the way, do you think you'll score full marks on the essay this time?"

"Even if I don't get full marks, I'll still be the first," August replied calmly. "Kevin, you don't have to be modest. I know you've always wanted to surpass me. Let's have a good competition this time and see who truly deserves the first place."

"Sure, let's compete," Kevin grinned. "But if we're competing, there has to be a bet to spice things up, right?"

"No problem." August was waiting for this. He stared at Kevin and said, "If I still come first this time, you have to stay away from Mr. Jones."

Kevin was taken aback. He hadn't expected August to be concerned about this matter. It seemed August was truly infatuated with Vanessa. Nodding, Kevin said, "Alright, but what if I win?"

"Tell me, as long as it's reasonable, I'll accept it." August was confident in his abilities. Although Kevin was strong, he didn't consider him a real threat in English.

"Let me think," Kevin mused. "How about you publicly masturbate in front of Mr. Jones?"

"Kevin, you're such a jerk!" August's face flushed red, his fists clenched tightly. He never expected Kevin to make such a request. In his eyes, Vanessa was untouchable, let alone having such thoughts, let alone acting on them.

"Wanna fight? Bring it on. Who's afraid of who?" Kevin didn't back down, towering over August. Even if a fight broke out, he knew he wouldn't lose. Besides, he had always found this snobbish August irritating.

"Kevin, you can't beat me. I hope you'll keep your word." August didn't fear fighting Kevin physically; he was more concerned about the situation escalating and involving their parents. His father would surely reprimand him if things got out of hand.

"I hope you won't back out either." Hands in his pockets, Kevin whistled as he walked away. He had performed exceptionally well in the English exam this time, even acing the essay. It was highly likely that he would surpass August and claim the top spot.
