Chapter 94 Mrs. Garcia Cried

Audrey's eyes flickered as she thought. The topic she wanted to bring up with Alissa was touchy; being too direct might make Alissa defensive or suspicious. But if she was too vague, Alissa might just play dumb, making the whole conversation pointless. After a moment, Audrey smiled and said, "Alissa, those tips you gave me about writing compositions were super helpful. My students' writing has improved a lot since I shared them."

Alissa was a bit surprised by Audrey's sudden shift to teaching, but she relaxed. Smiling, she replied, "Of course. I learned from my old English teachers. It's easy to start, but getting better takes more effort. You can't just follow instructions; you have to really understand it."

Audrey asked a few more questions about teaching before suddenly venting, "Alissa, Quentin Rodriguez has been coming to our office every day lately. No matter how much I try to get rid of him, he won't leave. It's so annoying."

Hearing this, Alissa got worried and said, "Quentin is bad news. You should keep distance. If he latches onto you, it'll be a hassle, especially since your husband isn't around. People might start talking. If he comes to your office again, just come hide in mine."

Audrey sighed, "But I can't avoid him forever. I actually feel a bit sorry for him. He's almost thirty and still single. I heard he had a girlfriend who left him for someone else, and that's why he never married. Quentin says I remind him of his ex, so he can't help it."

Alissa chuckled and shook her head. "Do you believe that? He probably says that to every female teacher. Besides, he didn't stay single out of devotion; he just didn't want to lose his freedom. You might not know, but Vanessain your office has a thing with Quentin."

"That's impossible," Audrey exclaimed, surprised. Vanessa was outspoken with male teachers but never acted inappropriately, and she always treated Quentin coldly. How could they be involved?

"You really are naive," Alissa said with a smug smile. "Do you really think everyone is straightforward in this school? They might fool others, but not me. I've watched them closely. Quentin looks at Vanessa differently than he does at other teachers. You might not get it, but a man looks at women he hasn't conquered differently from those he has."

"Alissa, you're good. How do you know so much?" Audrey was still processing this shocking secret. She knew schools weren't as clean as they seemed, but learning about her colleagues' affairs was hard to accept.

"It's nothing special. After a few years as a homeroom teacher, you learn to read people," Alissa said casually. "I can tell at a glance who's dating whom in a classroom. I know all the dirty secrets in this school; I just don’t talk about them."

Audrey nodded, feeling a mix of emotions. "True, but Vanessa is married with kids. Why would she get involved with Quentin? Isn't she afraid of being found out?"

"Of course she is, but people always think they can get away with it. Maybe Vanessa has her reasons. Who knows?" Alissa sighed. Then, looking serious, she said, "Audrey, you're young, and your husband isn't around. I know it's hard, but you can’t cheat. One slip, and you'll regret it forever. Just hang in there for a few more years."

Seeing Alissa's earnest expression, Audrey couldn't hold back any longer. The words she had been suppressing burst out, "Alissa, why didn't you hang in there?"

Alissa was stunned, seeing Audrey's intense gaze. She wanted to play dumb but realized it was pointless. Denying it was just self-deception. Thinking about her affair with a teenager, she felt more ashamed than Vanessa. Her face turned pale, and she covered it with her hands, breaking into sobs.

Since her relationship with Kevin began, Alissa had been on edge, fearing discovery and feeling guilty for betraying her role as a teacher. Audrey's sudden confrontation unleashed all her pent-up emotions, leading to uncontrollable, heart-wrenching sobs.

Audrey was shocked by Alissa's breakdown. She hadn't expected her to be so fragile. Panicked, she gently hugged Alissa and said, "Alissa, please don't overthink it. I didn't mean anything by it. I actually don't know anything."

Alissa cried for a while before slowly calming down, her eyes red and swollen, her face tear-streaked. Audrey quickly fetched a towel for her to wipe her face, trying to lighten the mood. "Alissa, why are you crying? I was just saying you shouldn't be so passive. Face it head-on. Don’t keep it all to yourself."

Seeing Audrey still trying to cover up, Alissa sighed and said calmly, "Alright, Audrey. You don't owe me an explanation. I know you came to find out what's going on between me and Kevin . To be honest, I did sleep with Kevin . We had sex. I'm a shameless, depraved woman. Are you satisfied now?"
