He ascended to the second floor and entered the office, finding Quentin on a call. Gesturing towards his desk, Quentin silently indicated for Kevin to place the essay there. Following suit, Kevin left the room and idly gazed out beyond the railing at the staircase. To his surprise, beneath a camphor tree, he spotted Albert and Lola engaged in conversation.
Curious if Albert had stirred up trouble once again, Kevin leaned against the railing, observing the interaction. However, he noticed a rare softness in Lola's demeanor, contrasting with her usual severity. Perplexed by this sudden change, Kevin found it as unexpected as the sun rising in the west. Could Albert have slipped something into her drink to alter her disposition?

Descending the stairs, Kevin encountered Albert still lost in thought beneath the camphor tree. Kicking him playfully, Kevin grinned, "Albert, what are you daydreaming about? What did the old witch say to you earlier?"
"Ah, nothing, really." Startled, Albert hastily waved his hands in denial. "You must be mistaken. I haven't spoken to Director Cui at all."
"Is that so?" Kevin studied Albert, sensing that his friend might be concealing something. However, indifferent to probing further, Kevin inquired, "How are things with Lucy?"
"Same as always." Albert shared, "Just holding hands, some hugs, no kissing, let alone touching the chest, and certainly nothing below. How about you and Laura? Made any progress? Any intimate experiences?"
"Come on, am I that kind of person?" Kevin sighed, exasperated by Albert's fixation on intimacy. "Will you ever think about anything else? We're in the eleventh grade now, heading into twelfth soon, facing college entrance exams. Aren't you feeling any urgency?"
"What's the use of hurrying?" Albert shrugged nonchalantly. "I might just head abroad for a degree. My mind doesn't match up to yours or Lucy's, and definitely not like Laura's. I only ended up in this high school due to my mom's nagging. If not for her, I could've studied overseas in middle school. When I return, I'll easily secure a job. Maybe I'll even land a foreign girl. Hey, remember how dedicated you were when studying at my cousin's place? Why the sudden halt?"
"Forget it, you must have opinions despite your words. I won't be a third wheel anymore." Albert remarked, "Your cousin values you the most. Last time when you weren't around, she asked me a lot about your behavior in class. She even inquired about the exact nature of your relationship with Laura."
"How did you respond?" Kevin's heart skipped a beat, anxious about provoking jealousy in Audrey. After all, Laura was technically his girlfriend, a fact he couldn't deny.
"I mentioned that you and Laura get along well, slightly closer than regular classmates." Albert chuckled, "Your cousin even tasked me with keeping an eye on you. If you exhibit any unusual behavior, I'm meant to report back to her. Hey, Kevin, I haven't kept anything from you. In critical moments, I am on your side."
Listening intently, Kevin was startled. Audrey had actually turned Albert into an undercover agent. Fortunately, he had been cautious with what he shared about himself and other women with Albert. As of now, Albert only knew about his relationship with Vanessa. Maintaining a serious expression, he stated, "Albert, we're the best of friends. Don't go blabbering to my cousin. She's monitoring me rigorously, even more so than my mother. It's quite vexing."
