Chapter 1856

Christopher's heart skipped a beat at her words. He knew she meant every word. Hesitating, he replied, "Audrey, but we just..."

"What about just now?" Audrey's face was pale, a mocking smile playing on her lips as she coldly stared at the man who had just violated her. Her voice was icy. "You think you're proud of yourself because you just had sex with me? You think I'll throw myself at you from now on, betray Jason, and become your lover? Dream on!"

"Audrey, don't get me wrong. That's not what I meant. I really just wanted to help you." Christopher was frustrated. He had thought that after their encounter, he had completely won Audrey over. But who would have thought she was such a principled woman? He was at a loss.

"Alright, you can leave now. If you dare come to my house again, don't blame me for being rude." Audrey's expression turned impatient as she issued her ultimatum.

"But..." Christopher was reluctant to leave, thinking Audrey was just shy. He tentatively moved closer to her. After all, they had already been intimate. If he could just endure a few scoldings and maybe a slap or two, she would eventually be his.

But as soon as he took a step forward, Audrey's face darkened. She grabbed a flowerpot from the TV cabinet and hurled it at him. Christopher dodged just in time, the pot whizzing past his head and shattering against the wall. He broke out in a cold sweat. Audrey was serious. If he had been a second slower, he would have ended up in the hospital.

"Get out!" Audrey screamed with all her might.

"I'm going, I'm going." Christopher nearly tripped in his haste, scrambling out of Audrey's house. He knew better than to provoke her further. He would wait until she calmed down before trying again.

After Christopher left, Audrey slowly walked into her bedroom. She looked at the wedding photo on the wall, her heart aching. Jason had only been gone a month, and she had already cheated. Though she had been drunk and it wasn't entirely her fault, Christopher hadn't forced her. She had even asked him to do it. She couldn't blame anyone but herself.

Suddenly, her phone rang. Seeing Jason's name on the screen, her face changed. She stared at the phone, unable to answer. The ringing continued until she finally picked up, her voice barely a whisper.

"Audrey, why didn't you answer? I was so worried. What were you doing?" Jason's voice came through the line.

"Nothing, I was just in the shower and didn't hear the phone." Audrey almost cried hearing Jason's familiar voice. She took a deep breath, her voice trembling. "How's Imperial City?"

"Imperial City is amazing, a hundred times better than Harmony County. No, a thousand times! There are skyscrapers everywhere, and the streets are full of luxury cars. I wish you could see it." Jason sounded excited. "I regret not coming here sooner. Don't worry, with my skills, I'll establish myself here in three years and bring you over. How have you been? It must be hard being alone. I think about you every day."

"I'm okay." Audrey bit her lip, her eyes welling up. "Jason, I miss you too."

"Audrey, you don't sound right. Are you upset? Tell me what's going on." Jason's voice grew concerned and agitated.

"It's nothing. Just busy with work at school, a bit tired. Really, it's nothing." Audrey thought about the harassment from colleagues and the principal, and how Christopher had violated her. She felt a wave of grievance but couldn't tell Jason. She had to swallow her pain.

"Make sure to rest. And be safe at home. If you need anything, ask Christopher for help. He's a good guy. I wouldn't have come to Imperial City without his advice."

"What? Christopher suggested you go to Imperial City?" Audrey was stunned. She thought Christopher was genuinely trying to help her, but now it seemed he had orchestrated everything to separate her from Jason. She had trusted him, but now it was too late.

"Yes, why?" Jason asked.

"Nothing." Audrey's face turned pale. She chatted with Jason a bit more before hanging up. She replayed everything from when she moved to the Alley and met Christopher. She realized she had been set up. Christopher had always coveted her, disguising himself as a kind and honest man. She had let her guard down, and now she was furious. She stormed to Christopher's house and banged on the door.

"Who's there? Coming!" Christopher's voice came from the yard. He opened the door in his pajamas, seeing Audrey standing there, seething. He felt a pang of guilt but forced a smile. "Audrey, what brings you here so late?"

"Christopher, you're a despicable man!" Audrey gritted her teeth. "Did you tell Jason to go south?"

"No, I didn't." Christopher's eyes darted, smiling. "Audrey, where did you hear that?"

"You're lying. Jason just told me himself." Audrey glared at him. "Are you still denying it?"

"Alright, I did suggest it." Christopher nodded.

"You finally admit it. You're despicable." Audrey's chest heaved with anger. "You schemed to get Jason away for tonight. You're shameless. I'll ruin you, let everyone know what a scoundrel you are."

"Audrey, that's not fair." Christopher remained unfazed, smirking. "I admit I have feelings for you. But you're beautiful, with such a figure. Any man would feel the same. And tonight, you texted me to come. If I hadn't, your principal wouldn't have spared you. And I asked for your consent before we did anything. If you want to make this public, go ahead. But think about the consequences. How will you explain to Jason?"

"You..." Audrey's face flushed, her body trembling. Christopher was smart, anticipating her reactions. He wasn't afraid of her calling the police. In a small town like Harmony County, rumors could destroy her reputation at Sunset Valley High School.

Seeing Audrey's silence, Christopher relaxed. He feared she might lose control and call the police, ruining his plans.

"Audrey, you're right. I'm despicable." Christopher chuckled. "But are other men any better? If Jason cared about you, would he leave because of my words? And your male colleagues at school, are they trustworthy? They might seem decent, but they're probably thinking about undressing you. Even your principal, why did he get you drunk? He wanted to sleep with you. I tricked you, but you enjoyed it. Can Jason satisfy you like I did?"

"Shut up!" Audrey's face changed, cutting him off. "You're talking nonsense. Jason isn't like that. Do you think I'll believe you?"

"Believe what you want. I'm just stating facts." Christopher shrugged. He didn't need to argue, just plant a seed of doubt. With Jason and Audrey apart, their relationship would weaken, and arguments would increase. He didn't need to do anything more.

"Christopher, I won't believe you anymore." Audrey's voice was cold, but her resolve wavered. She knew Christopher had a point. Her male colleagues often found excuses to get close, peeking at her or harassing her. Even Principal Oliver had hinted at things. She pretended not to notice, but it was her figure that attracted them. Every man stared at her chest.

"Audrey, you don't need to be so cynical." Christopher sighed. "No matter what you think of me, I'll still help you if you need it."

"Don't worry, I'd rather die than ask for your help." Audrey huffed, turning back to her house. She never wanted to see him again. For the next week, she avoided Christopher, ignoring him at work. Christopher was frustrated but patient. They had been intimate once, and her anger showed she cared.

A few nights later, Christopher walked into the alley and heard a familiar woman's voice calling for help. He ran over and saw a man dragging a struggling woman into a dark corner, her mouth covered.
