Chapter 1316

Meanwhile, inside the surveillance room at Fairy Lake Reservoir, Deputy Chief Justin and Detective Chief Mark of the Harmony County PD watched the monitors, tension etched on their faces. Acting on a tip from hospital police, they'd raced to the reservoir, sealed off the access roads, and quickly identified a suspicious villa based on previous surveillance footage. Plainclothes officers were already on site, keeping a low profile.

"Chief Sullivan, the Southside crew's been inside for almost two hours. No sign of anyone else coming or going. Can we move in?" Mark asked, a thrill of anticipation coursing through him.

The gang war between the Northside and Southside had raged for two weeks, tearing Harmony County apart, leaving a trail of bodies. As Detective Chief, Mark had been under immense pressure, taking heat from the Commissioner. This was their chance to take down both gangs in one swoop.

He had to give credit to Kevin. The kid had stumbled onto the Southside's hideout, capturing several key players, and had even uncovered the location of the planned meeting between the two gangs. Plus, Fairy Lake was isolated. Block the roads, and they were trapped. This was almost too easy.

This was Justin's first major operation as Deputy Chief. If anything went wrong, the blame would land squarely on his shoulders. He was leading the task force, and the pressure was immense.

"Mark, for the record, once we initiate, I want a thorough sweep. Maximum caution. We don't want these guys getting desperate. Let's make this clean. Go."

The SWAT team and plainclothes officers surrounding the villa moved in, lobbing tear gas canisters through the windows. Thick smoke billowed out. Figures stumbled out, choking, only to be tackled by waiting officers.

Some individuals tried to escape through the windows amidst the chaos, but they couldn't evade the surveillance cameras in the area. At the exit of the scenic area, Mark personally led a team to guard and check each person, capturing any gang members who hadn't been caught yet.

The operation lasted all day, punctuated by bursts of gunfire. Three gang members were killed resisting arrest, and one SWAT officer caught a stray bullet. By the end, fifty-seven gang members were in custody, along with dozens of weapons and six vehicles.

Levi, the Southside leader, tried to escape disguised as a woman, but a sharp-eyed officer recognized him. He panicked, bolted, and nearly drowned in the reservoir.

Disappointingly, Jerome, the Southside strategist, and Jasper, the Northside leader, were nowhere to be found.

Still, it was a major victory, crippling the gangs that had terrorized Harmony County for years. The department launched an internal investigation, targeting officers suspected of protecting and informing for the gangs.

The Northside, once a dominant force, was effectively wiped out. The Imperial Bar, once their bustling headquarters, stood empty.

Meanwhile, at the sanatorium in Harmony County's western suburbs, Kevin was living the good life. He, Audrey, and Natalie had returned that day and undergone thorough medical checkups.

Among the four, Vanessa was the most seriously injured. Her breast had been injected with a large dose of a lactation-inducing agent, and she had minor tears in her labia majora and labia minora. Besides the physical injuries, she also suffered from some degree of post-traumatic stress disorder and was emotionally unstable. Vanessa's husband, Andrew, visited once but couldn't see her.

Audrey, though spared Quentin's more brutal methods, was also shaken. This was her second kidnapping, and it had taken a toll. A psychologist had spent an hour with her, recommending a week of rest.

Natalie was physically unharmed. However, the news that Jasper and Jerome had escaped left her uneasy. She decided to stay at the sanatorium to recover, figuring that with the police presence, it was the safest place in Harmony County.

With the three women there, Kevin wasn't going anywhere. The director had arranged for them to have a private floor, each with their own room, plus a shared common area with a TV and games. Mark had dropped off a PSP, worried Kevin would get bored. Kevin was in gamer heaven.

Audrey, still concerned about Kevin's outburst in the prison, thought the games might help him de-stress, so she let him be.

One evening, Kevin woke up and heard voices outside his door. Curious, he peeked out and saw Audrey and Natalie talking quietly by the window. They were both wearing the blue and white striped hospital gowns, their slender figures clearly visible. Audrey's ample breasts, barely contained by the thin fabric, were especially noticeable, like something out of a comic book.

The dim hallway light, the two beautiful women in their gowns, it created an intimate scene. Kevin, not wanting to intrude, watched from his doorway, imagining what it would be like to have both of them in bed with him.

Since his threesome with Grace and Alissa, he'd been strategizing his next conquest. Alissa and Audrey seemed like the most likely pairing. He'd never considered Audrey and Natalie before, but if it hadn't been for Natalie getting the information, Vanessa and Audrey might still be trapped. Maybe Audrey would be open to it.

He wouldn't try anything now, though. He didn't want to jeopardize his chances with Alissa and Audrey.

Natalie glanced up and saw Kevin watching. She smiled, yawned theatrically, and said, "I'm getting tired."

"Go ahead to bed, Natalie. I'm going to take a walk," Audrey said.

The sanatorium grounds were beautiful, even nicer than the local parks. It was a peaceful place. Audrey had taken to walking at night, trying to clear her head. She couldn't sleep unless she was exhausted.

"Okay. Be careful. Lots of mosquitos out tonight," Natalie said, watching Audrey disappear down the stairwell. She turned to Kevin and waved him over. "Come on over, Kevin. She's gone."

Kevin grinned and joined her. "What were you two talking about?"

"You, of course," Natalie said with a playful smile, her eyes sparkling. She smelled faintly of something sweet, and the way she tossed her hair was incredibly sexy. It made Kevin's heart skip a beat.

Of all the women Kevin knew, Natalie wasn't the most conventionally beautiful. She wasn't as striking as Audrey, didn't have Grace's legs, Evelyn's smooth skin, Daisy's elegance, or Vanessa's perky butt. But there was something about her lazy sensuality that was utterly captivating.

"Oh yeah? What about?"

"How brave you were, Kevin." Natalie laughed. "If you hadn't gone for help, we'd all be screwed. Quentin and Douglas are animals. Just thinking about it gives me the creeps. Even the SWAT guys said they wouldn't have rappelled down that cliff. You don't seem like much, but you really stepped up."

Natalie had managed to subdue Douglas, but without Kevin bringing the police, she wouldn't have escaped the prison on her own. She wasn't stupid, though. If there hadn't been any outside help, she would have found a way to use Douglas to get out.

Kevin preened under her praise, trying to act nonchalant. "I wasn't thinking. Just wanted to get someone to help Audrey. It was pretty freaky."

Natalie's eyes flickered. She leaned in and kissed him softly on the cheek. "Thank you, Kevin. I'm finally free."

Kevin was confused. Free?

Natalie smiled enigmatically. She'd just learned that the government was commending her for providing information and giving her a twenty-thousand-dollar reward. It wasn't a fortune, but it symbolized a clean break from her past. She no longer had to live in fear. She could finally walk in the sunlight.

If Kevin hadn't come to her, she might have avoided trouble, but she would never have been free of Jasper. She would always be known as his girlfriend, her past forever tainted.

In this gang war, Jasper and Levi were both badly hurt, Jerome had vanished, Quentin and Douglas were captured. Natalie was the only one who had come out ahead.
