Chapter 853: Audrey Followed
The three of them went to the second floor of the university cafeteria. Dave hosted and ordered seven or eight dishes. Audrey remarked, "Dave, that's too much food. We can't finish it all."
Dave chuckled and said, "It's okay. These are some of our school's specialty dishes. Audrey, you should try them all. Eating at the school is already quite simple, so please don't mind it."
"It's fine," Audrey smiled slightly, noticing Nicole's pouting face as she glanced at Dave. Audrey inwardly chuckled, realizing that this pretty girl had a crush on Dave. It seemed that student-teacher romances were not uncommon.
They chatted while eating, but mostly it was Nicole talking. Audrey listened quietly, occasionally saying a few words to Dave, appearing calm and indifferent to Nicole's provocations.
Suddenly, Dave's phone rang. He apologized and stepped aside to take the call. Audrey smiled and said, "Nicole, you really like Mr. Dave, don't you?"
"No, I don't," Nicole stammered, blushing furiously at the unexpected bluntness.
"There's nothing wrong with liking someone. Loving someone is never wrong," Audrey said with a gentle smile. "Nicole, I can see you're a lively and kind girl. I hope you can be brave and not leave yourself with any regrets."
"Audrey, you and Mr. Dave aren't..." Nicole bit her lip and asked.
"You misunderstood. I'm already married," Audrey explained. "And I'm only in Starhaven temporarily. I'll be leaving in a few days and probably won't be coming back. Does that make you feel better?"
"I'm sorry, Audrey. I shouldn't have treated you that way," Nicole said, her face red with embarrassment for her earlier behavior.
"It's okay. I was a student once too. It's natural to be impulsive when you meet someone you like," Audrey said. "I wish you happiness."
When Dave returned, the two women were chatting amicably, even exchanging phone numbers, which relieved Dave's concerns.
After the meal, Nicole offered to be their guide and showed Audrey around the campus. The university had excellent landscaping, with trees everywhere and a large artificial lake where a few wild ducks swam freely.
"The environment here is wonderful. Living in such a school every day must be a blessing," Audrey said sincerely. If she hadn't been married, she would have considered applying for graduate school to relive the beautiful university life.
Just then, Audrey's phone rang. Seeing it was her husband, Lucas, she stepped aside to take the call.
Nicole froze for a moment, having caught a glimpse of the name "Lucas" on Audrey's phone screen. How could Audrey know Lucas? But she quickly dismissed it, thinking it was a common name and the world was full of coincidences.
"Hello, what is it?" Audrey's tone was calm, showing no sign of anger.
"Honey, where are you?"
"I went back home, didn't I tell you?"
"I've thought about it a lot, and maybe you're right. Please come back," Lucas pleaded.
"Come back for what, Lucas? I don't want to argue anymore. I came here to discuss things with you. If you insist on your way, there's nothing I can do," Audrey said, frustrated.
"Alright, alright, I was wrong. How about this: give me one more year. If you still haven't changed your mind after a year, I'll go back home with you. Is that okay?" Lucas's tone was soft.
Audrey was stunned. She hadn't expected her husband to compromise. If it was only for a year, she could accept that. After all, she was used to living alone. Waiting another year wasn't too much to ask. The worst thing is waiting without hope.
"Lucas, are you serious? You're not joking?" Audrey asked, skeptical.
"Yes, I'm serious. After you left, I thought about it. Life in Starhaven is indeed stressful, and your concerns are valid," Lucas said. "I'll save money for another year, then we can go back to Starfall Town or the provincial capital to start a small business. It will also be easier to take care of my dad, and you won't have to worry. Does that sound good?"
What Lucas said made sense, and Audrey found it hard to believe her stubborn husband had come around. But it was a good thing.
"Alright, I'll head back soon," Audrey said after a moment's thought. Since her husband had made a concession, there was no need for her to be stubborn.
"Great, honey. Call me when you get back. Tonight, I'll take you out for a big dinner. We haven't had a proper meal together since you arrived. You can pick the place," Lucas said cheerfully.
"Okay, we'll talk when I get back," Audrey said, feeling a weight lift off her shoulders. She felt a bit dazed that the issue that had troubled her for so long was suddenly resolved. It seemed that one had to show some toughness and not always be passive. If she had hesitated last night when her husband gave her an ultimatum, he might not have realized her determination and made such a big concession. Now that her husband had changed his attitude, there was no need to stay in Aetheria any longer. Audrey bid farewell to Dave and Nicole and quickly walked out of the university gate.
Just then, a Toyota Prado stopped at the gate. A young girl in a miniskirt got out of the passenger seat, threw a flirtatious glance at the bald man inside, and walked into the school, swaying her hips and showing off her long legs.
Audrey sighed inwardly. When she was in college, many pretty girls were pursued and kept by businessmen. It seemed nothing had changed. She took a few steps to hail a taxi to the bus station to return to Starhaven.
The bald man was about to drive away when he saw Audrey and his eyes lit up. Despite her simple attire, her figure was outstanding—tall, long-legged, with a full, round butt, and her tight T-shirt barely containing her large breasts. He pulled up beside her and leered, "Hey beautiful, where are you going? Need a ride?"
This man was Peter, the owner of Desire Nights Club. Although he had plenty of beauties at his club, including Valerie with her E-cup breasts, he always craved new conquests. He loved the thrill of bedding young college girls with their tight bodies and firm breasts, which made him feel young again.
However, most girls nowadays were obsessed with being thin, almost to the point of being skeletal, which wasn't to Peter's taste. He preferred voluptuous women with big breasts and wide hips. Valerie was close to his ideal, but her breasts still felt small. Seeing Audrey, with her massive chest, made him excited. Her breasts were probably bigger than Valerie's, maybe even G-cup. It seemed the university had its hidden treasures.
Audrey glanced at Peter, noting his bald head, fleshy face, and the thick gold chain around his neck. He looked like a thug. She frowned and said, "No, thank you. I'll take a taxi."
"It's too hot to wait for a taxi. What if a beautiful lady like you gets overheated? I'd feel terrible," Peter said, his eyes roaming over her body, particularly her large breasts straining against her T-shirt. He fantasized about playing with them later.
In Aetheria, there were few women Peter couldn't touch. Most fell for his money. He had bedded so many women that he knew some, despite appearing unattainable, were actually quite promiscuous. Audrey might be one of those women. If he could get her to his club, she'd be just as good as Nicole.
Audrey felt uneasy under Peter's lecherous gaze. She ignored him and walked away, her hips swaying provocatively in her tight jeans. Her mature, voluptuous body was captivating, stirring his imagination.
Peter wasn't discouraged, smiling as he drove alongside her, trying to engage her in conversation. He enjoyed the chase, finding it more thrilling than a quick conquest.
Seeing Peter's car following her, Audrey felt a growing panic. In Starhaven, she at least had her husband to rely on, but here she was alone. Not wanting to involve Dave, she considered calling the police if Peter continued to harass her.
Reaching an intersection, Audrey had an idea. She stood on the crosswalk, thinking Peter wouldn't be able to stop there without attracting the police's attention. But Peter boldly stopped his car next to her, saying, "Come on, beautiful. I'm not a bad guy."
A traffic cop approached, intending to make Peter move his car. But after a brief conversation, the cop left, leaving Audrey feeling even more helpless. Peter's confidence suggested he was well-connected. Desperate, she considered calling her husband, as he might know someone who could help.
Just then, an Audi pulled up, and someone inside waved at Audrey, smiling. "Audrey, what a coincidence! We meet again."
Audrey turned and saw a familiar face. Her heart leaped with joy as she hurried over, exclaiming, "It's you!"
