Chapter 1504
Amos, a class officer in Class 58 and the head of the Arts Department in the student council, seemed almost predestined for his role. With parents in a performing arts troupe, he was naturally talented and possessed an exceptional singing voice. At last year's New Year's Eve party, his rendition of a love song had swept many girls off their feet. While Kevin was certainly handsome, he couldn't quite rival Amos's charm.
"What's the deal? Just say it already," Laura said impatiently, her urgency to get to the restroom evident.
"Laura, here's the scoop. New Year's is coming up, and our Arts Department is planning a cultural evening. As the head of the department, I'll be performing a song. I know you play the violin beautifully, and I was hoping you could accompany me," Amos explained with a smile. Decked out in a designer tracksuit, his long hair flowing and a hint of cologne about him, he looked like a heartthrob straight out of a movie. It was no wonder the girls were infatuated with him.
"Sorry, Amos, I don't have any time. You should ask someone else," Laura responded bluntly, clearly uninterested. Despite her passion for the arts, her heart leaned towards sporty guys like Kevin. Kevin's spectacular long-distance three-pointer during the freshman basketball game had made her heart skip a beat, and since then, she had harbored a crush on him.
"Come on, Laura, it's just one performance. It won't take much of your time," Amos persisted, still blocking her path. "Do me this favor, okay? It's also part of our student council events. Chairwoman Harris hopes you'll join us too."
Chairwoman Harris, or Fiona, was the president of the Sunset Valley High School student council and hailed as the school beauty. Laura was regarded as the next in line for that title, though she wasn't as enthusiastic about student council activities as Fiona. Fiona had even suggested Laura succeed her as president, but Laura had politely declined.
Laura preferred peace and quiet, disliking social interactions. She had picked up the violin because of Daisy's insistence, but she actually hated performing on stage, especially since most of the audience didn't appreciate music.
"Amos, I'm really not interested," Laura said, now visibly annoyed. "Don't use Fiona's name to pressure me. Even if you bring the principal, it won't work. Now, please move. I need to use the restroom."
By now, more people had gathered in the hallway. A voice from the crowd shouted, "Isn't that Amos? Dude, step up your game. This is so old-school. You don't deserve Laura as your accompanist."
Amos's face turned red, and he reluctantly stepped aside, watching Laura hurry away. He felt frustrated. He had liked Laura since freshman year but had been cautious. Seeing many guys, including Kevin, fail in their attempts to win her over, he didn't dare to try, fearing the same fate. After all, girls like Laura, who came from wealthy families, were proud and had many suitors. If the timing wasn't right, it would only embarrass him.
He had been waiting for a year, looking for an opportunity to get close to Laura. But Laura was a well-behaved girl who usually went straight home after school and rarely participated in club activities, leaving him with no chance to approach her. With the first semester of sophomore year ending, he was getting anxious. If he waited any longer, they would graduate. So he decided to approach Laura, only to fail on his first attempt.
Just then, a boy walked over, sneering. "Amos, you trying to chase Laura too? But you failed, didn't you?"
It was Ivan. Amos snorted, "You're no different. But unlike you, I won't give up easily."
Amos's father was a leader in the county performing arts troupe and a colleague of Ivan's mother, Willow. So, Amos and Ivan had a good relationship. In their freshman year, they, along with August, were known as the three handsome guys, each with a group of loyal fans.
Amos had held back because of Ivan's high-profile pursuit of Laura. When Ivan turned his attention to Fiona, Amos saw a chance to pursue Laura.
"Well, you might not have a shot with Laura anymore," Ivan said, pulling Amos into a secluded corner of the hallway. "Laura already has a boyfriend."
"What?" Amos was stunned. "Are you kidding me? Who's the guy? It can't be August, right?"
In Amos's mind, besides himself and Ivan, only August was worthy of pursuing Laura at Sunset Valley High School.
"It's not August. You'd never guess," Ivan said with a sly grin, "It's Kevin from our class."
"Kevin?" Amos was floored. He knew Kevin, who had just become the head of the student council's publicity department this semester and was highly regarded by Fiona. But Kevin's family background seemed average, and he was just a big, burly guy who played basketball. How could Laura be with Kevin? "Where'd you hear this?"
"It's true," Ivan said, a hint of jealousy in his voice. "At first, I didn't believe it either. But Kevin often takes Laura home, and they're desk mates now. They're trying to keep it low-key, but they can't fool me."
Hearing that Laura was Kevin's girlfriend, Amos's face turned pale, and his hands started to tremble. "Why? Why would Laura choose Kevin? What's so special about him? How is he better than you or me? I think he's just after Laura's family. Laura must be deceived by him. I need to talk to her and clear this up. I can't let her be fooled by that loser."
In Amos's privileged eyes, someone like Kevin, despite attending the same school, belonged to a different social class and had no right to enter their elite circle, let alone pursue girls like Laura and Fiona. Only elites like them deserved such girls.
"Do you think Laura will listen to you? Girls are driven by emotions," Ivan said, shaking his head. "It's a shame Laura chose Kevin, but Amos, you don't need to be upset. There are plenty of girls who like you. Why focus on Laura?"
"That's rich coming from you. Didn’t you chase Laura for a year?" Amos said through gritted teeth. "Kevin, that jerk, dares to compete with me for a girl. I'll make him regret it."
"Forget it. I'm warning you, Kevin isn't easy to deal with. Didn't you see how he swiped my Class President position?" Ivan said, secretly relishing the situation. His father had advised him not to confront Kevin directly, but seeing Kevin's success irked him. So he egged Amos on, hoping he'd handle it.
Ivan also harbored a bit of jealousy towards Amos. With his melodic voice, Amos was more popular with the girls, and his name held more weight than Ivan's. If Amos and Kevin clashed, one would inevitably get hurt, which would work out just fine for Ivan. It was a shrewd plan.
"Ivan, you're such a coward. How could you let some nobody take your Class President spot? What's so special about him? I refuse to believe I can't handle him!" Amos decided he would teach Kevin a lesson.
At lunchtime, Kevin was about to find Audrey for a meal when Laura invited him to come home for lunch. As they walked towards the school gate, a bee flew by, making Laura shriek. Kevin pulled her into his arms and shooed the bee away. Unable to resist, he kissed her, causing Laura to blush and playfully smack his shoulder.
This scene was witnessed by Amos, who had been tailing them. Seeing his crush being kissed by Kevin made him furious. He wanted to slap Kevin but knew he couldn't win in a fight. Watching Kevin and Laura walk away, he began plotting.
Kevin and Laura returned home to find Daisy had already prepared lunch. She smiled and said, "Kevin, I got some seafood just for you. Go wash up and come eat."
"Thanks," Kevin replied. Since becoming closer to Daisy, he felt more at ease around her, although he kept things formal in public to avoid suspicion.
After washing his hands, Kevin saw Laura head to her room to change, while Daisy was in the kitchen serving food. He walked into the kitchen and said, "Daisy, let me help."
"No need, you just wait in the dining room," Daisy replied, flashing him a seductive smile. She was wearing a dark green nightgown that accentuated her fair skin, her full breasts, deep cleavage, curvy hips, and long legs. Her slightly curly hair added to her mature allure, setting Kevin's heart racing. He hugged Daisy from behind, pressing his dick against her plump hips, and whispered, "Daisy, you’re so beautiful."
"Stop it, don’t let Laura see," Daisy said, feeling his strong arms around her and his penis against her. Breathless, she added, "Let's wait until after dinner. The food will get cold."
"Daisy, I need you now," Kevin said, feeling the heat of her body. He kissed her passionately, and Daisy couldn't help but respond, kissing back the boy over twenty years her junior. She reached behind to stroke his penis through his pants, her body growing excited.
