Chapter 491 The Top Figure in This City
Ivan broke out in a cold sweat, plopping down on the ground, while Jeremy beside him was also stunned, speechless as he looked at Ivan's pierced melon with a dagger.
"Damn, you've got some skills," the bald guy sneered, signaling his two lackeys to move in with their machetes, closing in on Kevin from both sides.
"Stop!" Just as things were getting dire, a girl's voice suddenly rang out.
Kevin turned to see Fiona standing not far away, still in casual attire, looking at the three hooligans with a righteous tone, "What are you guys doing? How dare you cause trouble at the school gate. Your actions have already violated the law. Now, put down your weapons and surrender yourselves to the police station."
"The police station chief is my buddy. I had drinks with him last night," the bald guy smirked as he eyed Fiona, noticing her long legs and curvy figure, "Hey beautiful, what's your name? Let's be friends."
Seeing the guy's lewd behavior, Fiona's face darkened as she warned, "What do you want? I'm warning you, if you don't leave now, you'll regret it."
"Fiona, don't worry about me, just go," Kevin nervously shouted at Fiona. Despite Fiona's respected status, these gangsters wouldn't care much, and Fiona might end up in trouble.
At that moment, Ivan ran over to Fiona, saying, "Fiona, why are you here? It's chaotic here. Come with me first, and I'll explain everything to you later."
"Ivan, did you send someone to deal with Kevin?" Fiona smiled slightly, "You're quite something, using these means against your classmates. Is this what your father taught you? Like father, like son. I might have to praise you to my father later."
Ivan immediately broke out in another cold sweat. Fiona's father, Armando, was the Deputy County Mayor, ranked fourth in the Standing Committee, young and promising, with deep connections in the city. He had brought in several multi-million dollar projects from the city, even the Secretary and the County Mayor had to respect him.
Although Ivan's father, Devon, was the Director of the Finance Bureau and considered the city's god of wealth, he struggled to move up the ranks. The leap from a section chief to a deputy director was a challenge. There were over a hundred section-level cadres in the city, but only thirty deputy director positions. Usually, it took several years for a deputy director position to become available, and there was a risk of it being filled by parachuted cadres like Armando, leaving no chance for section-level cadres.
Devon wanted to curry favor with Armando to climb the ladder. If Armando became a city leader one day, he could promote Devon to a deputy county mayor, and he would be content.
If Fiona spoke ill of Ivan in front of her father Armando because of today's incident, Devon's efforts would be in vain.
"It really wasn't me, Fiona," Ivan quickly explained, "It was Kevin who offended Jeremy from the senior year. Jeremy wanted to teach him a lesson, and I was trying to persuade Jeremy to let it go, but he wouldn't listen. I couldn't do anything about it."
"So, you were actually trying to help," Fiona looked deeply at Ivan and said softly, "Who is Jeremy? Bring him here; I have questions for him."
"Don't make things difficult for me," Ivan glanced at the bald guy standing nearby, lowering his voice, "Jeremy's brother is someone in the underworld. He's with Jasper, you must have heard of him. We can't afford to mess with these people, and there's no need to. Kevin brought this upon himself by provoking Jeremy. Why bother standing up for him?"
"I'll handle this today," Fiona stared at Ivan, then turned to the bald man with a commanding presence, "You all better leave now, or you'll all be in trouble."
"You've got quite the attitude, beauty," the bald man sneered, "Who do you think you are? Daring to talk big like this, with your perky butt. Did men have their way with you?"
"You bastard!" Fiona had never been insulted like this before, her pretty face turning cold. She bit her lip and reached for her phone, "Just you wait."
"Fiona, calm down, don't make the call yet," Ivan, realizing the trouble ahead, didn't want to alert Fiona's father. He helplessly said to the bald man, "Bro, why don't you leave now? You really can't afford to mess with her."
