Chapter 14-15 (Revised) Katherine's Getting Back

After returning to his room, he was in deep thought. Giorgio didn't want Charlie to direct his longing for his mother towards Anna, who bore a striking resemblance to Katherine and had ulterior motives. He took out his phone and dialed Katherine's number.

"Ring~ Ring~ I'm sorry, the number you dialed is currently busy. Please try again later," the customer service message played.

He furrowed his brow, thinking Katherine must be busy, so he hung up the phone.

On the other end, Jack turned off her phone and threw it directly into the bathtub.

He looked at Katherine lying on the bed, unconscious and naked, satisfaction filling his eyes.

Tonight had been perfect.

"RING RING" The phone on the table rang, this time it was his phone.

He answered with a smile, "Xiaofeng, what's up?"

Wendy eagerly asked, "Jack, how did it go? Did you succeed?"

Previously, Jack had promised her 30,000 dollars if he got Anna, and Katherine had said she would give her a sum of money once the plan succeeded. Together, it would be enough for her to live comfortably for half a year, which was the reason she had come up with the plan to deceive Anna and bring her there. Now she was curious about the outcome.

Jack laughed, unable to contain his excitement. "It worked, it worked! She's right here beside me! This young girl is amazing. Her fair skin, tender flesh, light and soft body, it's simply heavenly. I'll keep her by my side from tonight onwards and won't let her go back. We'll take care of the marriage certificate later. I'll have someone transfer your money tomorrow morning."

He wanted to enjoy this beautiful person's company every day.

Hearing this, Wendy laughed and without hesitation said, "Great, great! I have no objections. Just keep in mind that she has a strong personality. You should keep her well and train her properly."

"Don't worry, I will definitely make sure she is obedient to my desires. In my secret chamber, no one can escape," Jack spoke, their conversation filled with the sinister thoughts of two evil people.

Unconscious Katherine had become nothing more than their prey.

...

Anna had no idea that Wendy had schemed against her from behind and that such a big misunderstanding had occurred. After leaving the villa, she didn't plan to go back. Instead, she called her best friend Sara.

Sara came in her pink car, and after Anna explained the situation to her, Sara couldn't help but curse:

"That old witch treated you like that? She has completely lost her conscience! No, not even a dog would eat her filthy heart. She is not human!"

"But Anna, you accidentally stumbled upon your son, and from now on, you'll have to spend your days with Mr. Vittorio. This is simply turning adversity into good fortune. I'm so jealous!"

"Do you think you and Mr. Vittorio are living out a 'domineering CEO falls in love with me' plotline?"

More like domineering mafia man. But that wasn't public information.

Anna rolled her eyes. "You're an adult, when will you stop watching those braindead dramas? Seriously, promise me, never let Penny know her father exists."

Over the years, she had told Penny that her father had passed away. If Penny were to find out her father was still alive, especially if he was a man like Giorgio, Penny's infatuation would probably cause her to forget about everything else and be easily swayed.

Sara looked at her and said, "Why? It's Giorgio, the man every woman in the world fantasizes about, the idol in every man's eyes. If he found out you were the mother of such an adorable daughter, he would definitely marry you and you'll live happily ever after, never worrying about food or clothes or anything. Penny would be so happy. Isn't that good?"

Anna vigorously shook her head. "No, it's not good! I have no interest in that kind of blind man who can't even tell his wife apart. Besides, he's my sister's husband. I don't even want to think about it. Now, all I hope for is for Charlie to regain his innocence and for him and my sister to leave Crownhaven as soon as possible so that my life can return to peace." Her tone was serious.

Sara looked at her and shook her head with emotion.

Other women dreamed of being connected to Giorgio, and this silly girl couldn't even cut off that line of thought.

No, it's good that she's silly. Don't all those domineering CEOs fall for silly women?

Anna didn't want to discuss these boring topics further and spoke up, "Well, I asked you to pick me up because I need your help with something. Take Penny with you and let her stay at your place temporarily."

As Sara knew, even though Wendy had been terrible in the past, she had always been good to Penny. Anna thought that, considering the high cost of rent and the need for someone to take care of Penny, it was better to leave her at Wendy's. But now, since Wendy knew that Black Jack had a tendency for child abuse and still wanted to marry him off to Anna, she couldn't guarantee Penny's safety. Anna was genuinely afraid that, while she was busy with Charlie, Wendy might sell Penny too.

Sara nodded. "That old witch is truly evil. For sure, she can do anything. Let's go, I'll take you there."

"Okay, thank you."

"Ugh, don't thank me. Once you and Mr. Vittorio become official, don't forget about me," Sara teased.

Anna felt like a million crows were flying over her head.

"That's never going to happen," she rolled her eyes, "That man is incorrigible."

She had never thought of having any relationship with Giorgio. Why couldn't she cut off that train of thought?

Her head throbbed, and it hurt...

After settling Penny into Sara's house, Anna took a leave of absence from work. Her next focus was to wholeheartedly take care of Charlie and help him overcome the shadows of autism.

In the morning, after dropping Penny off at kindergarten, Anna went straight to the villa.

It was 7:30 am, and the villa was filled with the tranquility of birdsong and the fragrance of flowers.

As Anna entered the villa, Giorgio had already finished breakfast and was sipping his coffee, every movement exuding the elegance of high society.

When he saw Anna, he narrowed his eyes slightly.

She hadn't specified a time last night, yet she had arrived so early? Well, at least she was proactive.

He coolly raised his lips into an unfeeling smile. "Charlie's preferences and dislikes are written on the notepad on the table. Read them carefully. He can't handle mistakes."

"Oh, alright." Anna immediately nodded and took the notepad.

The notepad was filled with specific details about Charlie's likes and dislikes, a total of twenty clear points. It was weird to get to know about her son like this. Like an employee. A babysitter. But that was all she was. A stranger to this little boy who had lived inside her for nine months. And to think, he did not know of his sister. Or she of him.

"No problem, I've memorized them all. I'll take good care of Charlie," she assured Giorgio.

Giorgio placed his coffee down and stood up gracefully. "Contact Little Tony if you need anything."

He left behind those cold words and promptly left in a dignified manner.

He must be going to work.

Anna let out a sigh of relief. She would have felt uneasy if he was still at home.

After the car had completely disappeared, she walked upstairs to Charlie's room.

"Charlie, Auntie is here."

Charlie sat up from his bed and when he saw Anna, his eyes sparkled.

He pulled back the covers and sat up, gesturing for her to help him get dressed.

Anna thought to herself, what a lazy little rascal.

She walked over, opened the wardrobe, and her face froze in surprise.

The entire wardrobe was filled with black shirts, black pants, black t shirts, and even the socks in the bottom drawer were black!

Goodness, were these clothes for a child?

"Charlie, don't you have any other clothes?"

Charlie shook his head.

Anna was speechless.

Her daughter, Penny had worn clothes of all colors and styles, and it was the same for other children. Yet Charlie only had black clothes?

No wonder he seemed so repressed!

"Well, let's wear these for now. Auntie will take you to buy new ones later."

Charlie nodded, changed his clothes, and after freshening up, he followed Anna downstairs for breakfast. Afterward, he went to the study to read.

Throughout the whole time, not a word was exchanged.

How could this continue? Anna thought.

Suddenly, an idea came to her, and she leaned over Charlie's desk.

"Charlie, let's play a game! You can't refuse, and if you answer correctly, there will be a reward."

"If you were a poor person and had to choose between a fishing rod and a basket of fish, which one would you choose?"

Charlie probably didn't expect to play a game, so he pursed his lips and finally answered, "A basket of fish."

Anna was delighted. He spoke! It was truly rare.

But unfortunately...

"You answered wrong! It's better to teach someone to fish than to give them fish. If you have a basket of fish, once you eat them, they're gone. But with a fishing rod, you can catch many more fish."

Charlie furrowed his brows, coolly saying, "But if I sold the basket of fish, I could buy many fishing rods. Then, I could rent out the fishing rods to others, collect rent, use that rent money to buy more fishing rods, and continue to fish or rent them out repeatedly. I'll be making a fortune. Wouldn't that be better?"

Ha!

Who knew it could be like this?

That business-minded brain, did he inherit it from Giorgio?

Anna was in awe, completely convinced, but she couldn't understand one thing.

"Charlie, your speech is usually so fluent and standard, why don't you speak like that normally?"
