Chapter 339 Let It Go?

Little Tony thought to himself, 'It's over.'

Mr. Vittorio was finished, and he was finished too.

Sure enough, Tom walked over to the little guy and said, "Where does it hurt? I will check your temperature."

In the kitchen, Anna also rushed out and ran to Charlie's side. "Charlie, how are you? Are you alright?"

Faced with the concern of the two, Charlie looked puzzled. "Tom, Auntie Anna, I'm fine. I fell asleep inside."

"Sleeping? Didn't your dad say you were sick?" Anna asked curiously.

Tom was also confused.

Charlie said, "No, I wasn't sick. When did I get sick? Dad, why are you giving me that look?"

Anna and Tom glanced at the man with his cold and stiff face, clearly showing his uneasiness.

In an instant, they understood.

Charlie wasn't sick! He lied!

The air became incredibly awkward and silent.

Not a sound was heard.

Tom couldn't help but feel guilty. When Little Tony had pulled him earlier, he should have followed!

Quickly changing the subject, he said, "Ah, it seems like Ms. Stefanelli made a lot of delicious dishes. We can have a gathering, eat some late-night snacks, and talk about the stars and the moon!"

"What? Little Tony, why are you so foolish?" Didn't you see that Ms. Stefanelli was about to explode?

Little Tony grabbed Tom's arm and didn't dare say a word to Mr. Vittorio, instantly slipping away.

He caused trouble. Tomorrow, he would find a way to escape the rage!

After the two left, the air became even colder than before.

Giorgio stood there, cold and speechless.

Anna, her face frozen, held tightly onto her palms, as if a storm was coming.

Uh oh, they wouldn't start fighting, would they?

Charlie cursed himself for not being smarter. And his dad was an idiot. He should have at least given them a heads up before acting.

Forget it, like father, like son. He would take the blame.

He weakly grabbed Anna's small hand and said, "Auntie, I'm sorry. I saw that you were unhappy with Giuseppe, and you even lost your appetite for dinner. I told my dad that if he didn't invite you over to make dinner for me tonight, I would die just to prove it to him.

“Dad lied to you because he wanted to comfort me and prevent me from getting sick. I'm sorry."

Charlie's voice was weak, and his face looked burdened, making it hard to tell if he was telling the truth.

Anna didn't know if she should believe Charlie's words, but she didn't want to see him in this state.

She crouched down to comfort him, "Charlie, me and Giuseppe are doing fine now. If you really marry him, we can still see each other every day, isn't that good?"

"But you liked Giorgio, not Giuseppe. Why did you change your mind? Giuseppe is a bad person!" The little guy's emotions were starting to get out of control.

It wasn't just defending his dad, it was instinctual dislike.

Anna's face tightened. Her hand fell gently on Charlie's little head as she softly comforted him. "Charlie, what you think is good may not actually be good, and what seems bad may actually be good. When it comes to people, it's not about looking with your eyes but feeling with your heart. Giuseppe is truly a good person, very warm. I am very happy with him."

Charlie shook his head in resistance. "Well, my dad is the same! Although he may appear cold on the surface, he is actually warm and doting. Auntie, why don't you try to feel him with your heart?"

Anna felt awkward with Charlie's sudden retort. What exactly was the thought process of a child? How embarrassing was this?

Giorgio was speechless. Did this brat really need to comment on whether he was good or not? It was embarrassing for him to forcefully vouch for himself.

"Go to your room and sleep."

"Dad, I'm just trying to help you!" Charlie wanted to say something, but upon seeing the man's cold expression, he swallowed his words instantly.
Forget it. With a dad who was like a dead weight, he couldn't handle anything.
"Auntie Anna, I'll go to bed now. Goodbye."
After the child left, only the two of them remained.
Giorgio initially expected Anna to question him or accuse him of deceiving her.
However, to his surprise, Anna simply walked into the kitchen, carefully covered the dishes with plastic wrap, and calmly said, "Heat them in the microwave for two minutes tomorrow morning. It can be Charlie's breakfast."
Then, she turned to leave.
Rather than questioning or getting angry, what was even more disheartening was that she showed no emotions whatsoever, as if there was no point in being angry with him.
Damn it! In just a few days, he felt as if she was far away from him, unreachable.
As she passed by him, Giorgio raised his hand, grabbed her wrist, and pressed her against the wall. "You can't even speak to me now?"
"Yes." Anna's answer was without hesitation, her voice firm.
She had no expectations of him to begin with. When he didn't visit her in prison, it felt as if he had sentenced her to a life of despair.
What was there for her to talk to him about?
Even at this moment, while he was staring at her, she showed no nervousness or fear. On the contrary, she was cold.
Her attitude, that single word "yes," suppressed Giorgio's mood heavily.
He stared at her coldly, suddenly curious. "What charm does Giuseppe have? How did he warm your heart?"
His voice was low, carrying an obvious undertone of sarcasm.
Anna scoffed, her calm gaze meeting his deep and unusual eyes. "Why is it any of your business? If Giorgio is truly curious about my relationship with Giuseppe, why not ask your nephew? Your relationship with him is even closer, and I'm sure he can give you a detailed account."
Her implication was that she and Giuseppe had experienced so much together, with plenty of details to discuss.
Giorgio's face turned icy, his thin lips tightly shut. "Anna, I never knew you could be so heartless and two-faced," he said.
She sneered, "Yes, that's the kind of person I am. Giorgio, why are you still holding onto me? Don't you feel like you're dirtying your noble and pure body? Let go of me. I'm going back to sleep and won't disturb you, my lord Giorgio."
Giorgio felt like he was about to explode from anger, so he let go of her. "Fine. But remember, as long as I don't let you go, no man will dare to marry you. Go ahead, I want to see how long you and Giuseppe can last together."

Anna was taken aback by his sudden threat. She stepped forward, blocking his way, filled with anger like a prickly porcupine. "What do you want? Tell me, how can I completely be left alone by you?"

Giorgio retorted, "Leave you alone? Niece-in-law, tell me, you climbed into my bed and then you married my nephew. How should I leave you alone?"

Anna choked. How could he say that she climbed into his bed? Charlie was the one who arranged it! Giorgio had his share of responsibility too! Why was he holding onto her with this excuse?

But of course, being the possessive and authoritative person that he was, he naturally didn't like things he had touched to appear in his house or be near his nephew.

She looked at him and said, "Then tell me, Giorgio, after having a relationship with me and then marrying my sister, how should I leave you alone?"
