Chapter 220 Husband?
Anna replacing Katherine was a secret known only to a few involved parties.
How then did Mirlinda come to know about it?
Giorgio suspected Simon had told Mirlinda, his gaze somewhat intimidating.
Simon, on the other hand, was puzzled and surprised.
Observing the expressions of the two men, Mirlinda's face became a complex tapestry of emotions.
"It seems I guessed right. It really is so."
Simon and Giorgio were speechless.
Guessed?
Mirlinda said, "Anna is dating you, my husband, and even Anna‘s daughter has returned to Vista Heights, yet she stays alone in Crownhaven with no news. Today, that little girl kept crying, saying her mommy fell into a snow pit and fainted, and she wanted to come to Crownhaven to see her. Then, my husband, you got off the plane and went straight to this hospital. Doesn't all this confirm what I've been thinking?"
Her analysis was clear and insightful.
However, Giorgio caught a different piece of information, and his eyebrows arched, "Husband?"
What kind of fresh term is this? Can you call someone your husband without being married?
Mirlinda immediately beamed a radiant smile, stepped forward, and latched onto Simon's arm, explaining to Giorgio, "I'm pregnant with his child, and Simon and I are already married."
What??
Giorgio's face showed a rare look of shock and bewilderment.
Although he wasn't too fond of Anna and Simon being together, the fact that Simon had married so quickly and even had a child was something he had never considered.
His gaze fell on Simon, waiting for his response.
Simon, with a calm and somewhat stiff and embarrassed face, confirmed: "Yes, she and I have a child, and because of the child, we got married."
Giorgio fell silent.
Simon's deep gaze turned to Giorgio, "Take good care of Penny and Anna. Don't tell Anna about this for now; I will find time to explain."
With that, he left with Mirlinda.
Mirlinda, sensing his downcast mood, felt even more hurt and uncomfortable.
Was it because her words had struck a nerve, or because she had revealed their relationship, that he was so downcast and displeased?
But she didn't like that his heart was always filled with another woman and that he would travel between two cities in the dead of night for another woman.
He had never shown her tenderness.
After getting into the car, both of them sat with stern faces, silent.
The air was eerily quiet.
After what seemed like an eternity, Simon finally said, "I have not crossed any lines with Anna. Anna replaced Katherine out of necessity, and this cannot be made public."
Look, even now he was thinking of clearing Anna's name!
Mirlinda scoffed coldly, "What if I say no?"
Simon was at a loss for words.
He had always been patient, even if he disliked and loathed Mirlinda, he had always taken responsibility and had even made the decision to part ways with Anna.
Her actions tonight, and her attitude at this moment, were very displeasing to him.
"You're worse than I thought."
After saying that, he looked out the window, no longer paying attention to her.
Mirlinda clenched her hand tightly.
Was she really so terrible? She just loved him more than she had anticipated.
Initially, she had been smitten with him at first sight, hoping to have a sexual relationship with him, even if just once.
Afterward, once she had him, she wanted to be with him, even if his heart wasn't with her.
But now, he was by her side, the father of her child, her lawful husband, and she began to pray for a place in his heart, however small, which drove her to such crazy acts as following him to Crownhaven.
It turned out that all her love, in his eyes, was like that of a madwoman, utterly worthless.
Haha.
…………
Giorgio didn't know how he had returned to the hospital room, only that Simon had left immediately after speaking. The silhouette of his retreating figure was rather gloomy, leaving Giorgio feeling uneasy. Perhaps it was because he could relate; he himself hadn't been able to break off his engagement with Katherine because of Charlie.
"Umm~~ Giorgio." The person in his arms was waking up.
Giorgio's thoughts returned to the present, and his gaze softened as he looked down at Penny's cute little face, "Awake? Your mommy and Charlie are already asleep. Are you hungry? Shall uncle take you to get something to eat first?"
Penny's eyes were bright and clear as she shook her head, "Not hungry. On the plane, my future daddy ordered me dinner, and I ate a lot. I want to see Mommy and Charlie."
"Okay." Giorgio carefully set her down, his movements extremely gentle.
He treated boys and girls quite differently.
Penny smiled at him and quickly trotted over to the bedside on her short legs, her eyes scanning over Anna from head to toe to make sure she was alright. Then she turned her sweet gaze to Charlie, "Mommy and Charlie are sleeping so soundly, I want to sleep here too."
Giorgio had intended to arrange for Penny to return to his villa, but now, seeing her hopeful eyes, he found himself unable to refuse.
He rubbed his forehead and took out his phone to send a message to Little Tony.
"Have our people come to the hospital to stand guard. Also, have Tom come over to take full responsibility for the treatment."
Then he looked at Penny, "You can stay, but the bed is too small. Do you want to sleep next to Uncle tonight?"
"Yes, yes!" Penny immediately waved her little hands happily, ran to his side, and hugged his leg, "I like Giorgio, I want to sleep with Giorgio."
Giorgio felt an unusual softness in his heart. He bent down to pick up the little girl and placed her in the cot's blanket, then he took off his shoes and jacket, turned off the light, and lay down.
The little one immediately snuggled up to him, comfortably placing her soft hand on his shoulder, like a clingy kitten.
Giorgio's aura completely softened, leaving nothing but tenderness.
He found it strange; before Charlie, he didn't like children, even disliked them. How could he now feel such affection for a girl with whom he had no blood relation?
The next morning, Anna was awakened by the rustling sounds of someone moving around. As she opened her eyes, she saw Giorgio arranging breakfast, a spread of appetizing dishes filled with enticing aromas.
But that wasn’t what was most important. What mattered was that two children were helping to wipe the table!!! One was Charlie, and the other was Penny, the child she longed for day and night!
"Penny?" Anna almost immediately got excited, threw off the blankets, got out of bed, and quickly ran over to squat down and hug Penny.
After feeling the little girl's very real presence, she asked in disbelief, "Penny, how come you are here?"
Penny lifted her face with a smile, showing two rows of white teeth. "Giorgio brought me back, he said I can stay here with you."
Anna turned her gaze towards Giorgio, her eyes full of questioning without saying a word.
Giorgio nonchalantly smiled, "I've had Little Tony arrange everything, no outsiders will know, and Penny won’t be exposed."
He always made it sound so simple, as if what was clearly a dangerous matter was not a problem at all in his eyes.
But Anna was still too worried about Penny. Once exposed, they would face insurmountable difficulties and predicaments.
"No, Penny, darling, maybe you should go back to the villa for now? Mommy will take you away from here in a couple of days."
Penny furrowed her little brow, "What’s wrong, Mommy? Aren't you happy that I came to be with you? I want to spend more time with Charlie and Giorgio. I don't want to leave, please don’t make me go~~ okay?"
Children didn’t understand the dangers involved.
Anna felt a headache coming on and sent a reproachful glance towards Giorgio.
It was all his fault. If he hadn't given the little girl hope to begin with, she wouldn't be behaving like this.
Giorgio caught her look and stepped towards her.
"What are you afraid of? Do you think I can't handle the problem? Or... do you think I lack the ability to manage a crisis?"
