Chapter 295 Anna's Accident!

Somehow, hearing this news, Anna's heart skipped a beat.

Charlie said, "With something so dangerous happening, is Daddy going to be in danger too?"

Penny replied, "He shouldn't be, right? Daddy is like a superhero."

Although the youngsters were occasionally miffed with Giorgio, they couldn't help but worry upon hearing such troubling news.

Anna spoke up to comfort the kids, "Don't worry about grown-up stuff. You two have already missed a lot of school. Better focus on your own worries!"

"Oh."

"Okay, bye, Mommy."

"Bye, Anna,"

The two little ones got out of the car, waving goodbye.

Anna waved back at them with a smile, watching as they followed their teacher into the school before closing the car door,

"Sara, let's go. We should head back."

"Alright." Sara started the car.

Sara had also wanted to discuss Mr. Vittorio's safety issues, but remembering his harsh words from yesterday morning, she decided it wasn't her place to meddle.

She tried reassuring Anna, "The collapse sounds serious, and the Vittorio Group will be swamped with work. With all that going on, no one will have time to bother you. You can relax for a while."

Anna looked down.

Indeed, with so many lives and families involved, even if she threatened Viviana now, it would be incredibly inhumane.

The bigger picture had to come first.

Seeing Anna silent, Sara sighed too,

"Anna, I feel like your life has totally gone off the rails. When do you think we'll be able to leave the Stefanelli family?"

Leave...

With all eyes currently on the Vittorio family and the Stefanelli family, even if the focus shifted later, as soon as she left, people would seize the chance to stir up more stories.

So,

"It's going to be tough for the time being. I guess we can't go back anytime soon."

"Really? That's great! I'm going to take this time to make a move on your brother!"

Anna nearly choked on her own breath...

...

"Sara!" Anna yelped as the car suddenly came to a screeching halt near the Stefanelli mansion. Thankfully, her seatbelt was on, saving her from being thrown forward. She steadied herself,

"What happened, Sara?"

"Your... your stepmother." Sara was still reeling from the shock.

Anna looked up and saw the flamboyantly dressed (yet hopelessly tacky) Wendy standing in front of the car. She narrowed her eyes and stepped out,

"What are you doing here again? You may not value your life, but I do."

Wendy dusted off her sleeves and approached,

"Anna, I didn't want to see you again, but I'm really out of money and almost got beaten up. Just give me a hundred thousand; I swear I won't bother you again."

Anna scoffed. When she needed Wendy to spot her for a meal during her acting days, what had Wendy done? And now she had the audacity to ask her for a hundred thousand?

"Wendy, a hundred thousand? What makes you think I would give you that? Do you think I'm some kind of ATM or a money tree?"

"No, it's just that I'm really in a tight spot. Anna, please!" Wendy clung to Anna's hand desperately, her pitiful demeanor begging for sympathy.
Unfortunately, she was just a piece of trash, only putting on an act when she needed money.

"Shit, this is so annoying! Can’t you ever stop?”

The car door opened, and Sara, who couldn't stand it anymore, got out and confronted Wendy directly, “Stop harassing Anna. If you try to block the car again, I won't step on the brakes. I'll just run you over. Come on, Anna, let's leave her behind."

Leaving those words hanging, she pushed Anna into the car, got in herself, and closed the door with a loud slam. She started the engine and drove away.

Wendy stood there, looking pitiful.

Inside the car, Anna glanced at the person in the rearview mirror, her delicate lips pursed slightly.

"Anna, please don't tell me you feel sorry for her? Do you not remember what she did to you and Penny? She's only here because she blew through her money, and now she's back begging from you.

Plus, didn't she just sell your information to the Stefanellis? She can’t be that broke."

Anna had already learned about the betrayal from Katherine, and it weighed heavily on her mind.

"I have a bad feeling about this. Something’s not right."

“What? What’s not right? She’s just here for your money, right? Relax, don't overthink it," Sara tried to reassure her.

Anna wished she could comfort herself with those thoughts.

But unexpectedly, in less than half an hour, trouble really did strike!

Twitter exploded with news about Anna!

"Shocking! Is this how Anna treats her stepmother?"

"Startling, Anna threatened to run over her stepmother!"

"Moral Decay! Did a daughter really tell her stepmother, 'shit, I'm so over this’?"

Underneath those headlines, there were audio recordings.

When played, Anna’s voice was heard, "What are you doing here again?"

"Wendy, a hundred thousand dollars? What makes you think I would give you that much? Sorry, I don't have a penny."

"No, I'm really in a bind this time, Anna. Please help me!"

"Shit, this is so annoying! Can’t you ever stop?”

The recording was clear, and Anna's impatience with Wendy was undeniable.

After listening, netizens went wild, "My God, is this the kind of person Anna is?"

"It’s bad enough to treat biological parents poorly, but what right does she have to be like this with her adoptive parents?"

"I always said she had an angle. Otherwise, why abandon her stepmother to go back to the Stefanellis?"

"Such an ungrateful wretch."

“Shit, her name is in the headlines every day, isn't that annoying? Can’t she just disappear from the public eye?"

“Shit, will she ever stop?"

“Shit…"

The comments lined up one after another, full of mockery and ridicule.

Anna was speechless.

She never thought she’d become the subject of a scandal.

And she never imagined that Wendy would record their conversation and leak it online, twisting the truth!

Sara was furious, "Anna, Wendy must be out of her mind! I swear, I’m going to stand up for you and take her down!"

"Wait," Anna said, grabbing her friend's arm with a calm restraint, "this doesn't seem like Wendy's doing. She doesn't have the brains or the power to plot against me. Someone else must be working from the shadows."

What? Someone plotting from behind the scenes?

"Yeah, Wendy's too dim-witted to pull off something like this," Sara considered, agitation simmering in her voice. "Who would want to ruin your reputation, to make you look bad? What's in it for them?"

As she spoke, a realization struck Sara like lightning, "I've got it! It has to be Katherine, that little cheater! She's definitely jealous of the buzz you've generated since you returned to the Stefanelli family. Afraid of being compared to you, she must have bribed Wendy to do all this, to tarnish your image and make herself look better. If it's not her, I'll eat my hat!" Sara's certainty grew with each word she uttered.

A shadow crossed Anna's dark eyes. Could Katherine really be the person behind it all? To think she covered for Katherine in a scandal, only to receive this kind of betrayal in return.

Anna pulled out her phone and dialed a number, "You free? I need a hand with something. Can we meet?"

"Sure, I'm at home. Come over."

After she hung up, Anna gave Sara the address. Sara was surprised. Anna was new to Crownhaven and had very few friends here. Who was she calling? Who were they going to see?

Driven by curiosity laced with skepticism, Sara drove to the given address. Then, when the door opened, she was floored by who stood there—
