Chapter 76 Staying for the Lunar New Year?
Charlie had a thought, "Oh Penny, you said earlier that your mom likes my dad?"
"Yeah yeah, my mom likes him, that's why she came to your house to take care of you and get closer to him. But it seems like he doesn't like my mom."
"It's not like that at all. My dad has poor emotional intelligence, he says one thing but means another. He clearly agreed for Anna to sleep with us, he likes her, he just doesn't know or maybe refuses to admit it."
"So, they can't be together anymore? Charlie, you seem very smart, can you think of a way to help them?"
"Well... let me think... ah, I got it!" Charlie leaned over and whispered a series of sentences into Penny's ear.
After listening, Penny's eyes lit up in the darkness, "Good, let's do that!"
At ten o'clock, the dinner ended. The group of six automatically split into two groups. One group consisted of Giorgio, Katherine, and Charlie, while the other group consisted of Simon, Anna, and Penny. It looked like two separate families.
Katherine greeted Mr. Dalio kindly and gently, "Mr. Dalio, would you mind escorting Anna home? Please drive safely."
"Yes, you too, take your time on the road," Simon replied cordially, then turned and got into the car with Anna and Penny.
Giorgio also got into the car with Charlie and Katherine. The two cars started simultaneously and left the parking space. Anna happened to be sitting by the car and clearly saw Giorgio sitting next to the window. His profile had sharp and refined lines, like a masterpiece, flawless. However, his overall demeanor was calm and noble.
As if sensing her gaze, he turned his eyes and looked over. The depths of his eyes were deep and dark, like a whirlpool in the deep sea, ominously dangerous, as if wanting to draw people in.
Anna instantly looked away and closed the car window. Somehow, every time she met his gaze, it sent shivers down her spine, and she couldn't bring herself to look at him.
Fortunately, he was leaving. After they returned to Crownhaven and Giorgio married Katherine, he and she should... never see each other again, with no connection whatsoever.
Giorgio caught Anna avoiding his gaze and his eyes darkened. The car hadn't gone far when he suddenly lifted his lips.
"Stop the car."
The car quickly came to a halt by the side of the road. Katherine asked with concern, "Giorgio, what's wrong? Did you leave something at the restaurant?"
"No, tonight you're going back to the set to organize your work. Come home early,
To Crownhaven." With a commanding tone, Giorgio issued the directive.
Katherine was surprised that she was being sent back to the set so late. Although she dared not object, she nodded and replied, "Okay, you and Charlie go back and rest early. I'll speed up the progress of the crew."
With that, she pushed open the car door, got out, and left.
The car returned to silence.
Little Tony couldn't figure out what Giorgio was thinking, so he cautiously asked, "Mr. Vittorio, are we going back to the villa or somewhere else?"
Giorgio glanced at the bustling night scenery outside the city, leaned back against the seat, and made an indifferent sound, "Back to the villa." Then he closed his eyes to relax.
He was simply annoyed and did not want to face Katherine for the time being.
Little Tony drove slowly, deducing what was bothering Mr. Vittorio, and said, "Mr. Vittorio, the news of the wedding has already been spread out and cannot be changed. Anna is with Mr. Dalio, and it's clear that she really likes him. Mr. Dalio is also the type that girls adore. They will be happy together."
With simple words that sounded like blessings to outsiders, Giorgio understood the deeper meaning behind them. He didn't pay any attention to it and instead asked, "Tell me, why do girls like that type?"
Mr. Vittorio was not someone who engaged in idle conversation, so it was surprising that he had the mind to talk now.
Little Tony could only answer truthfully, "Mr. Dalio is handsome, gentle, and dotes on girls. In the words of those girls, they feel like melting in front of him. He's super sweet. Many girls have a professional blessing for him: 'Wishing you find a rich, handsome, gentle, loyal, and romantic husband,' and Mr. Dalio happens to fulfill every aspect. He can be called a perfect man."
Oh, so highly praised?
"What type am I then?"
Huh?
This is not easy to say...
And Mr. Vittorio, are you comparing yourself to Mr. Dalio?
Little Tony didn't dare say.
Giorgio opened his eyes, glanced at him, and urged, "Just say it."
"Um, okay!" Little Tony immediately nodded in fear, and cautiously said, "Mr. Vittorio, you are handsome, elegant, outstanding, and many girls adore you. You are the man all girls dream of, but... you are too cold and do not win the hearts of girls. You are known as the iceberg man, and most girls don't particularly want to marry you... Even if they want to, it's for your appearance, physique, money, and status."
So, Simon wins the hearts of girls from the inside out, and you only have your face and money?
"What else?" Giorgio's handsome face darkened. He already knew it wouldn't be good, but he still pursued the answer.
Little Tony replied cautiously, "In the words of girls, a man like you is not suitable for dating..."
As soon as the words fell, Giorgio's handsome face turned gloomy.
Back then, Anna used to say...
"Using the exact same words, she truly didn't like his type," Little Tony realized the chill in the air and glanced at Giorgio, whose face turned as dark as ink. In an instant, he knew he shouldn't have said that!
But as a trusted assistant who had been by Mr. Vittorio's side for many years, he had a responsibility to remind him of certain things.
"Mr. Vittorio, I believe this is the best situation now."
Naturally, Giorgio knew. A glimmer of rationality passed through his deep eyes. "There's no need to say more. I know what to do. You continue to accelerate the work and return to Crownhaven early."
Once back in Crownhaven, everything would be as if nothing had happened.
"Yes, Mr. Vittorio."
Charlie, who had been pretending to sleep all along, listened to the conversation between the two. Sure enough, he hadn't guessed wrong. Daddy liked Anna, otherwise he wouldn't have asked those questions!
He must help Daddy!
During this time, Katherine was busy with the film crew and didn't go back to the villa. Giorgio was also occupied with his project, coming and going late.
Anna's daily job was taking care of Charlie, rarely meeting Giorgio and Katherine. She felt very relaxed.
At the same time, as she got to know Simon better, she discovered that he had a good personality. He never got angry with her and always spoke softly.
"Anna, I'm sorry but I won't be able to pick you up tonight due to overtime. I've purposely taken a day off tomorrow to spend it with you. You decide where to go," his gentle text message arrived on her phone again.
Anna smiled sweetly, "It's okay, focus on your work. I won't get angry."
Simon replied, "Other men would receive several calls from their girlfriends during a dinner party. You're so considerate, I don't know whether to laugh or cry."
Anna responded, "Oh well, I'm used to being independent. If you want to see my human side, then tomorrow you'll be punished by cooking yourself. If I don't like the food, I'll ignore you."
Simon agreed, "Alright. Get some rest."
Anna replied, "Okay, take care of yourself too."
After sending the text, Anna felt a sweet and peaceful feeling. It turns out that being in a romantic relationship is so simple and fulfilling.
If she could stay with Simon for a long time, her future life would surely not be filled with hardship.
"Anna, I'll be going back to Crownhaven tomorrow. Can you stay with me tonight?" Charlie's voice interrupted Anna's thoughts.
He held her hand and pleaded, "Please, it's our last night."
Anna snapped back to reality. The words "last night" stabbed her heart, but she couldn't bear to refuse, "Alright, but you mustn't forget what you promised me these past few days. Even when you go home, be a cheerful child, or else I won't like you anymore."
"Okay, okay," Charlie nodded eagerly. "Anna, I promise to listen to you. You've been taking care of me during this time, thank you. This is the milk I poured for you."
Anna didn't expect her son to be so thoughtful. She raised her hand and tousled his little head. Without thinking, she accepted the milk from him.
The cup was completely emptied. A mischievous glint flashed in Charlie's eyes as he said,
"Anna, you go to sleep first. I'll go downstairs and clean the milk cup, then come up to sleep
with you."
"Okay," Anna smiled and tidied the bed.
Holding the cup, Charlie went downstairs. Upon hearing the car sound downstairs, he quickly poured another cup of milk, added something in it, shook it well, and went out to hug Giorgio.
"Daddy, you're back. You've worked hard. Have a glass of milk," he said.
Giorgio lowered his gaze, looking at his enthusiastic son and asked, "What's making you so happy?"
"Nothing. It's just that we're going home tomorrow and I'm looking forward to seeing grandpa and grandma! Oh yeah, daddy, are you really going to marry Katherine?"
Giorgio lightly hummed, "Yes, she's your mother. The wedding is in five days."
He didn't want to harm his own father.
Charlie pursed his lips and said, "Oh, daddy, have some milk."
"All right." Giorgio didn't think much of it and reached out to take the milk. He drank it all in one gulp. "I'll go to my room to take a shower. You come up early."
"Okay, I'll come up after washing the cup." Charlie nodded happily, his face beaming with a smile.
Giorgio always felt something was off with him, but he couldn't figure it out. He could only go back to his room for now.
But as soon as he entered the room, he saw—
Anna, in a disheveled state, sleeping on his big bed!
