Chapter 145 The Late Night of the Two
Every time certain things were mentioned, her blushing and shy demeanor didn't resemble that of a casual woman.
It seemed that she and Giuseppe weren't what he had initially thought.
He took out his phone and called Little Tony.
"Lately, Giuseppe seems to have a lot of free time. Assign him a few more important projects."
At least, that issue was resolved.
On the other hand, Tom exploded that night.
Looking at the two children wreaking havoc in the house, making a mess and causing chaos, he rubbed his forehead.
"Penny, Charlie, you've been making noise for three hours already. It's time to go to bed!"
At the mention of sleep, Charlie calmed down.
"Oh right, I should go to bed. Tom , can you take me home?"
Penny also let out a sigh.
Throwing the pillow she said, "Hmm, Giorgio, I miss my mummy. I wonder what my mummy and Giorgio are doing. They forgot about us."
Her words made Charlie suspicious.
"Tom, my dad knows I can only sleep next to him. It's impossible for him not to come pick me up so late. Could it be that my dad had an accident? Only children whose parents have something happen to them are placed in someone else’s home. No, I want to go back and see my dad."
Penny instantly started crying in fear, "Mummy, please be safe."
Tom replied anxiously, "No, no, that's not it. How can something happen to your mom and dad? They're just dealing with adult matters and it's not convenient for children to be present."
"Is that so?" Charlie had a sudden realization, "Could it be that my dad wants to spend some alone time with Anna? Are they going to have a baby?"
Penny quickly wiped away her tears with her small hand. "Really? Giorgio will be with mommy?"
Tom couldn't think of a reply.
However, it seemed like they were satisfied with this answer. They wouldn't cause a stir?
"Well, that's probably it!"
As those words fell, the two children looked at each other and smiled.
"Okay, Tom."
"Then let's go back to our room and sleep."
Then, the two held hands and went back to their room.
Tom was shocked.
So they became well-behaved just like that?
Anyway, he could finally rest peacefully!
He never expected that mischievous Charlie would cause trouble again in the room.
Under the covers, Penny looked at Charlie playing with his phone and curiously asked, "Charlie, do you have another plan?"
Charlie nodded. "Yes, dad isn't emotionally sensitive and reacts slowly. If he wants to have some alone time with Anna, I must help."
"Huh? You got beaten up last time. You won't bring more trouble, will you?"
Charlie thought to himself, 'Can we not mention the past? It's embarrassing!'
He said, "No, this time it won't happen. I just added a little something to create an atmosphere. Tell me, what is your mom most afraid of?"
Penny said, "Ghosts."
'Well, every girl is afraid of ghosts.'
His small hands moved quickly, and after five minutes, he said, "Okay! Done!"
Penny asked curiously, "What did you do?"
"Nothing, let's see if it works first."
Inside the villa.
Approaching midnight.
A spacious bedroom with only Anna in it.
Suddenly, with the two little ones gone, it was quiet, and she felt uncomfortable.
The mobile phone on the pillow suddenly rang with a message tone.
Anna snapped out of it and picked up the phone to see that it was a message from Charlie.
The content was as follows.
'Auntie, tonight Penny and I are staying at Tom's house. I will take care of Penny, so you don't have to worry. Let me tell you a secret, the grandma who died in the villa often plays with me. Her face is very pale and she has no eyes, it's really scary. Don't go look for her, okay?'
What?
There was a death in the villa? And Charlie can still see her?
Was he joking with her?
No, children were innocent, they wouldn't intentionally scare her. Moreover, there's a legend that children can see things that adults can't.
The child could easily see those things.
Could it be that Charlie's autism was the reason?
Anna was instantly horrified as she glanced around the pitch-dark, empty room, feeling suddenly scared.
She pulled the blanket over her head, covering it completely.
When frightened, everyone sleeked refuge in their bed. But in reality, the confined space and suffocating breath made fear even more likely.
Images of ghosts outside her blanket kept popping into her mind, with the old lady standing by her bedside, gazing at her.
"Tap, tap, tap..."
Just then, a heavy and monotonous sound echoed, approaching the edge of the bed.
Who was it? Was it the old lady? She's here!
No, it can't be. There are no ghosts in the world! Charlie must be imagining things due to his autism!
Anna kept repeating in her mind, gathering courage. With a loud "whoosh," she suddenly uncovered the blanket!
To her surprise, there stood an elderly person with disheveled hair and a deathly pale face, staring straight at her!
Her eyes were dark and huge, resembling enormous holes.
Inside, there were no pupils at all!
"Ah!" Anna screamed in fear, jumping off the bed and scrambling away, shouting.
"Giorgio, Giorgio, there's a ghost! Help me, save me!"
Even in his sleep, Giorgio retained some awareness. As he heard the banging sounds and the woman's screams, he furrowed his eyebrows, got up, and turned on the lights.
But to his dismay, the lights didn't respond. A power outage, perhaps?
He reached out to grab his phone and just managed to touch it.
With a bang, the door was pushed open, and right after, a soft, gentle, and icy body jumped into the bed, clutching onto him tightly.
"Giorgio, there's a ghost in the house!"
Giorgio never believed in superstitions. He spoke up, "Let go, it's just a power outage. I'll go check the circuit breaker."
He tried to get up and leave.
"Don't go!" Anna urgently grabbed his arm, holding onto it tightly.
"There really is a ghost. She was just standing by my bedside, staring at me. She had no eyes. It's so frightening."
Recalling the scene from earlier, she couldn't help but feel panicked and scared.
Giorgio had never known that even she, who usually had a thorny personality, could be so timid. He turned on the flashlight on his phone, thinking that it must have been a nightmare.
However, as soon as the light came on, what appeared before his eyes was a flustered and anxious face of a woman, wearing only thin spaghetti strap pajamas.
The most crucial thing at this moment was that…
She was clinging tightly onto him.
