Chapter 190 A Pleasant Evening

"Giorgio, Katherine, you're back. I need to talk to Katherine about something, Katherine, I hope I'm not taking up too much of your time?" The man wore a friendly smile and his youthful appearance belied his cunning nature.

Anna quickly recognized him as Abel Vittorio, the youngest son, aged 24. He looked cute and harmless, but he was actually quite cunning and often worse than those who appeared devious on the surface.

Anna kept a calm demeanor and smiled politely, "Um, I have some free time now, what do you need?"

Abel smiled, "Actually, it's nothing major. It's just that everyone knows I'm a big fan of celebrities. You are familiar with people in the industry, so can she help me get some autographed photos of a few stars? Juliana, Karida, Kathy, and Lorraine? I would be extremely grateful if you could help." As he spoke, he clasped his hands together in a pleading gesture, a typical starstruck teenager move.

Anna breathed a sigh of relief; it turned out to be a small matter. She thought that with Giorgio's abilities, it wouldn't be difficult to get those autographs.

She was about to agree when Giorgio held her hand and said; "I don't have time, I'm busy. If you have time to chase celebrities, then you should focus on your own career. If you come to ask for such favors again, you will be punished with kneeling." With those words, he pulled Anna's hand and went straight back into the house.

Confused, Anna looked at Giorgio and asked, "What's wrong? It's just autographs, something you can easily arrange for. Why are you being so cold to him? It's not good to just have your sister as a friend at home, it would be nice to have more acquaintances."

Giorgio glanced at her and remained silent. He took out his phone and started searching for the celebrities Abel had mentioned. His expression shifted as he discovered something.

“Giorgio, take a look at this, should we keep it for ourselves?" He handed the phone to Anna.

She picked it up and was shocked. Kathy, whom Abel had just mentioned, was not a popular influencer but rather an unknown lyricist who had passed away three years ago. Asking for the autograph of a dead person was clearly a test.

“That was close. I almost agreed to get it. knowing Katherine’s knowledge of the industry, she would have questioned it right away. So, if I were alone, I would have slipped up. Luckily, you were cautious," Anna sighed in relief. Then, she couldn't help but complain, "I feel like I’m living in a novel like 'Legend of Zhen Huan', full of pitfalls and every word is like a sword. If we're not careful, we'll be in deep trouble. Are you trying to get me killed?"

Giorgio narrowed his eyes and said, "That's how people's hearts are, even with their own parents, you can't trust them."

Anna was astonished as she looked at his lonely figure under the dim lights. Suddenly, she felt that it wasn't easy for him to grow up in such a treacherous and dangerous environment. It was because of these experiences that his character became cold.

She composed herself and asked, "So, what does he really know? What should I do?"

Giorgio calmed down, looked at her, and lifted a corner of his lips. "It was just a test, probably a suspicion. To be on the safe side, tonight, learn about the people and events in the industry and take a look at Katherine's work information."

"Okay."

Meanwhile, in another room. As soon as Abel returned to the room, his wife Monica approached him and asked, "How did it go? Did you find out anything? How did she respond?"

Ever since they first realized that something was off with Katherine, they watched all the programs about her daily. Eventually, they noticed that the previous Katherine was slim and proud, with an otherworldly temperament. The current Katherine, however, was voluptuous and charming, with a completely different aura.

If a person's appearance changed, there must be a reason behind it. They concluded that Katherine either underwent plastic surgery or was a fake. Now, they had to just confirm it.

Abel sat on the sofa and took a sip of water. "She didn't answer. Giorgio was angry at me for not focusing properly and brought her back to the room. But from the way she looked at the time, it was obvious she wanted to answer. I couldn't figure out the problem."

Monica moved closer and frowned. "So, it's plastic surgery?"

"No, I saw her up close just now. Her face seems fine, no signs of surgery. And her face is as clean as Katherine's, exactly the same, yet it somehow felt different." Abel recollected Katherine's gaze earlier and his thoughts drifted. Finally, he concluded, "The possibility leaned more towards the latter."

Monica said, "Fake? Then we must try and test her again." In the pitch-black night, danger hung heavily in the air.

Anna and Giorgio lay together again, and Anna felt no uneasiness. Her mind was filled with questions about Abel asking about the dead. They only had a few days left, and that was the most critical moment. They absolutely could not afford any complications.

Early the next morning, she woke up very early and shook Giorgio.

"Hey! Wake up, let's go to the company early today," Anna suggested.

Giorgio opened his deep, hazy eyes and replied in a hoarse voice, "What time is it now?"

"It's five o'clock."

"No wonder I'm so tired. Go back to sleep, there’s no rush."

"But what if we run into Abel this morning? I'm really scared of him." Anna expressed her worries about potential problem, feeling restless and uneasy.

Throughout the whole night, they couldn't sleep peacefully. With closed eyes, Giorgio remained quiet as if he had fallen back asleep and didn't hear her words.

Five minutes later, he sat up, his gaze falling on Anna's anxious face with a mixture of indifference and sarcasm. "I must owe you in my previous life," he said.

Anna watched him get up and go to the bathroom, her lips slightly pursed. He owed her a lot for ruining her life's trajectory, causing her physical harm, and making her bear a child.

On the breakfast table, there were various dishes, exquisitely presented and healthy. Abel looked at the portion of salty cheese and then glanced at Katherine's seat, calculating in his mind. “Katherine hated eating salty cheese. Would she eat it this time?”

Impatiently, he suggested, "Grandma, why hasn't Giorgio brought Katherine down yet? The porridge will cool off. Shall I go and call them?"

Viviana waved her hand dismissively and replied, "No need. Giorgio said he took Katherine out for breakfast. They woke up early and left."

“They left so early? Was it a genuine intention for a romantic outing or merely coincidental avoidance?" Abel grew curious. Based on his reasoning, Giorgio would never wake up at five for a woman, not when he tirelessly worked day and night for the company. Things were becoming increasingly suspicious.

He proposed, "Grandma, let's have a bonfire party in the backyard tonight. It's been a while since the house was lively, and with Giorgio and Katherine here, we can also bring our little sister back from school. Let's have a good family gathering."

Monica chimed in, "Yes, Giorgio sacrificed his honeymoon for the family business. Let's give him and Katherine a surprise."

The older one got, the more they enjoyed seeing the house filled with warmth and liveliness. Viviana chuckled happily, "Alright, you guys prepare for it."

"Thank you, Grandma. We will make sure you have a pleasant evening tonight," Abel beamed with an innocent and pure smile. Giuseppe silently observed him.

Abel wasn't the type to bring up such matters voluntarily. Could it be that this bonfire party had some other implications?
