Chapter 57 A Hollow Heart

Anna was surprised and instinctively glanced at Giorgio, meeting his unusually deep gaze, and quickly looked away.

Strange, they should have gotten married after being engaged for so many years. Why is she surprised?

She spoke, "Let's see when the time comes, congratulations."

Giorgio's face darkened, she heard that he was getting married and yet she casually said congratulations?

What is she thinking? Doesn't she care about him at all?

Feeling annoyed, he took a step and went straight upstairs, grabbing his office supplies and leaving.

As soon as he left, the atmosphere immediately changed. Katherine was no longer in a friendly and welcoming posture, only saying coolly, "Did you hear earlier? Viviana said that Giorgio and I are going back this time to have the wedding of the century, and Giorgio agreed."

She was noble and proud, like a princess on the highest position, informing the matter to a lowly servant.

Anna didn't like her superior attitude and asked in return, "So what? Didn't I just say congratulations? Is that not the answer you wanted? Or did you want me to say no congratulations?"

"You!" Katherine clenched her fists in anger.

She was deliberately showing off, hoping to see Anna suffer, feel defeated like a loser, but Anna's reaction was like a punch hitting a rock, hurting herself!

She gritted her teeth, "You better sincerely say congratulations and keep your distance from Giorgio. He is about to become a married man now. People with morals know what to do."

After saying this, she left directly.

She didn't like Anna's indifferent attitude, making her look like a clown!

Anna looked at Katherine, not just like a clown but more like a madman insane with love, unable to obtain it. This kind of madman may appear bright and shiny on the outside, but inside it's rotten and pitiful.

Anna sat alone in the room, her heart heavy with a mixture of emotions she couldn't quite decipher. Hearing the news of Giorgio's upcoming marriage to Katherine had hit her like a tidal wave, leaving her feeling heartbroken and utterly confused. She thought she had everything under control, but as the news of his impending wedding reached her ears, it felt like a dam had burst, unleashing a flood of emotions she couldn't control.

"Why does this hurt so much?" Anna asked herself, her voice a mere whisper in the stillness of the room. She tried to reason with her emotions, to make sense of the turmoil within her, but it only seemed to intensify her distress. Yet, she couldn't deny the growing affection she felt for him, even if she had tried her best to bury it away.

As tears welled up in her eyes, Anna couldn't help but question herself further. Was it jealousy? Envy of Katherine, who seemed to have captured Giorgio's heart? Or was it a realization that her feelings ran deeper than she had allowed herself to acknowledge? She was torn between wanting to be happy for Giorgio and feeling the pain of her own unrequited emotions.

Anna wiped away the tears that streamed down her cheeks, feeling a sense of vulnerability she had never experienced before. She knew she had to find a way to move on, to let go of these feelings she had kept hidden for so long. But the ache in her heart was real, and she couldn't deny the pain she felt at the prospect of losing the man who had become so dear to her, so unexpectedly.

Evening, 7 o'clock.

A heavy rain poured outside.

Anna stood by the French window, with a worried expression on her face.

With such heavy rain, how could she go home?

"Anna, you don't have to go home tonight. I want to sleep with you and daddy again!"

Charlie's innocent voice sounded, he still remembered the time the two of them slept with him, that feeling was so strange!

When Anna heard this, her face turned pale, she quickly covered his mouth, looked around to make sure Katherine hadn't returned, and then let out a sigh of relief.

"Shh! Charlie, we can't talk about this anymore. It will make your mommy sad, and it's not good for me and your daddy."

"Why? Daddy clearly likes sleeping with you."

Oh my god!

Why would Giorgio like sleeping with her?

"In any case, we can't talk about it, or else I will tell your daddy that you can cook!"

Charlie pursed his lips, "Oh...ok..."

Only then did Anna breathe a sigh of relief, took out her phone, and hesitated whether to have Sara pick her up or take a taxi.

At this moment, Giorgio returned from outside, dressed in a suit, with a bit of rain on him. His hair fell on his forehead, making him appear slightly less arrogant and more approachable than usual.

Having been a waitress for several years, Anna had gotten used to taking care of others, almost instinctively grabbing a towel and running over to him, saying, "Quickly wipe yourself off, it's easiest to catch a cold in this kind of drizzle."

Giorgio didn't expect her to be so proactive and attentive, so perhaps she still had some ulterior motive? Or maybe she was playing hard to get in a sophisticated way?

Regardless, as he looked at her charming appearance, his gloomy mood unexpectedly improved a lot. He reached out and took the towel, removing his suit jacket and drying his hair.

As Anna took his jacket from him, she realized it was quite heavy and seemed to have gotten soaked in the rain. Curiously, she asked, "Didn't you take a car? How did you get so wet?" If he was getting wet even in a car, how would she get home?

Anna was worried about herself, as her health had weakened a lot since giving birth.

But in Giorgio's eyes, it took on a different meaning.

A hint of a different light flashed through his eyes. He took a step forward, standing very close to her, and asked in a hoarse voice, "Are you concerned about me, hmm?"
