Chapter 73 The Heartless Little One

Although it was just a simple question, Anna's heart skipped a beat.

"No, I'm just worried about wasting your time."

"Don't worry, Dad is free in the evenings," Charlie said, suddenly thinking of something. "Anna, you're the leading lady today. Is that the outfit you want to wear? Go and change into something else. There are many beautiful new clothes in the wardrobe."

Giorgio is cold-hearted in terms of emotions towards Katherine but never hesitates when it comes to material things.

There is a professional wardrobe stylist who brings new styles every week, with numerous options.

Anna felt uneasy; those were Katherine's clothes. "It's okay, I'll wear this. He won't mind."

"Oh, men are visual creatures. Even if he doesn't mind, you need to captivate his heart.

Otherwise, such a good person like Mr. Dalio might get attracted to someone else."

"What should we do if the woman steals it?" Charlie said, not waiting for Anna to refuse, and pulled her upstairs.

Giorgio stood still, his handsome face turning pale.

When did Charlie become so concerned about Anna and Simon's affairs? Why wasn't he this proactive usually?

Ten minutes later.

Anna came downstairs after changing clothes.

Wearing a pale pink dress that outlined her perfect figure, she looked beautiful with a hint of girlish shyness. Her soft hair cascaded over her shoulders, and her porcelain-like fair skin looked like pearls. She didn't do anything special, but she was captivating.

"Daddy, does Auntie look good? You have to answer me seriously," Charlie asked.

Giorgio looked away and indifferently replied, "She's ugly."

He wouldn't admit that she was beautiful.

Upon hearing this, Charlie frowned and said, "That's impossible. I personally picked out the outfit for Anna and thought it looked great and beautiful on her. But Dad, you are a man, and your aesthetics are similar to Mr. Dalio's. Anna, should we change into something else?"

Anna didn't want to go through the trouble, and she sincerely thought the dress was just fine. It was clear that Giorgio had bad taste.

She firmly replied, "No, we won't change. Your dad's taste is a bit off, but it's normal for him to have different preferences than us."

"Oh, it seems so," Charlie acknowledged. Everything he picks is never really attractive.

Charlie led Anna outside.

As they passed by Giorgio, Anna flashed a radiant smile and said, "Maybe your eyes are broken? Have a doctor check them for you."

Then, with her heels clicking, she gracefully walked away.

Giorgio's face turned green with anger.

It took them half an hour to get to the restaurant, and Simon had already arrived.

He sat on the couch in the private room, holding Penny and peeling candy for her. He looked gentle, caring, and patient, as if she were his biological daughter.

The moment Penny saw Anna, she beamed and exclaimed, "Mommy, future Daddy is treating me exceptionally well! I like him! Oh, by the way, Mommy, you look so beautiful today. Future Daddy, don't you feel more in love with my mommy now?"

Simon naturally noticed that Anna had dressed up and stood up politely, saying, "Yes, she looks very beautiful."

"I told you Anna would look beautiful in this," Charlie praised his own taste.

Anna casually glanced at Giorgio: See, I told you that your taste is flawed. Everyone else thinks it looks good.

Giorgio couldn't be bothered to respond. What bothered him now was that since entering this private room, Penny hadn't even looked at him once. She kept calling Simon "future Daddy" in such a sweet and endearing manner.

His heart felt heavy, as if a stone had been placed in it. He coldly walked over and sat on the couch, paying no attention to the little one.

Penny, sensing his aloofness, felt a pang in her heart.

He really doesn't like mommy and has never thought of making her his daughter, or else he wouldn't be so distant.

Hmph, she has a better future Daddy.

"Future Daddy, can I have a hug?" Penny laid all her coquetry on Simon.

Simon had no complaints. "Alright, let's embrace our little princess and order our food."

"Hmm, I like roasted lamb chops and vegetable soup. Just let future daddy know, okay?"

"It would be my pleasure, and I will remember." Simon gently touched her nose and looked at the waiter, instructing them to add a few more dishes.

"I love you!" Penny pecked him on the cheek.

The scene of the two of them sitting together was even more heartwarming than that of a biological father and daughter.

A bitter taste spread through Giorgio's throat, making him feel restless and frustrated as if he had taken bitter herbs.

Damn, why was he dealing with an unrelated little girl?

"Charlie, are you hungry?"

Giorgio wanted to find a sense of presence in his son, but Charlie's response was simply, "Not hungry. I'll have the same as Penny later."

Then he ran over to Simon and said, "Mr. Dalio, this is the gift I made for you and Anna."

Giorgio sighed internally. His son was distant from him too!
The aroma of freshly baked pizza and garlic bread filled the air, but despite the warm ambiance, Giorgio couldn't shake the feeling of emptiness in his heart.

As the evening unfolded, Charlie and Penny giggled and chatted animatedly, forming an instant bond over their shared love for video games. Anna and Simon exchanged affectionate glances, their happiness evident to everyone around them. Giorgio couldn't help but feel like an outsider, observing the joy of others without truly feeling a part of it.

"So, Charlie," Anna asked, her eyes sparkling with warmth, "what's your favorite subject in school?"

Charlie, who was usually a bit reserved, opened up with a bright smile. "I love science! It's so cool to learn about space and planets."

Penny's eyes widened with excitement. "Wow, that's awesome! I like science too, but I also love art and drawing."

Giorgio admired how easily the children connected, but he couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy. He longed for that sense of connection, for his son to be as enthusiastic about their family as Charlie was about this newfound friendship.

Simon turned to Giorgio, breaking him from his thoughts. "Giorgio, you must be so proud of Charlie. He's a smart and talented young man."

Giorgio managed a faint smile, trying to mask the turmoil within him. "Yes, he's a good kid," he replied, his tone lacking the enthusiasm he wished he felt.
