Chapter 158 Are You Acting Innocent?
Kids, it's always about the kids! He knew that this was her weak spot!
Unfortunately, no matter how many times he threatened her with the kids, it always worked.
Anna gritted her teeth, opened her eyes, pushed the car door open, and sat in the backseat.
As the car picked up speed, the enclosed space of the back seat felt suffocating. Giorgio reached out and forcefully pulled Anna onto his lap. Her back hit the car door beside him and there was no tenderness in his demeanor as spoke coldly, "If you were so intimate with Giuseppe, why pretend to be innocent to everyone else?"
His words cut deep. Did he truly see her as pretending to be innocent? Anna's heart sank like a block of ice, chilling her entire body.
She looked at him and said, "I've told you it was a misunderstanding. If you don't believe it, that's your problem. How I handle it is my choice. But Mr. Vittorio, what about you, a married man, touching me? What does that make you?"
A harsh twitch appeared at the corner of Giorgio's mouth as he forcefully held onto her slender shoulder and locked her in his embrace and said, "You dare to talk back after doing something wrong? Anna, it's because I've been too gentle with you that you keep challenging my limits!"
As he spoke, his powerful hand exerted force.
"Rip!"
The white dress tore, creating a piercing sound in the air.
"Ah! What are you doing? Let go of me! Stop!" Anna's face turned pale with panic. She never expected Giorgio to resort to physical violence. She struggled and resisted with all her might but couldn't withstand the strength of the man.
"Rip!" Another sound of tearing silk echoed in the car.
The white dress was destroyed. Anna felt wronged and humiliated Stripped of her dress, she felt even more ashamed and embarrassed.
She hugged herself tightly and curled up while shouting, "You bastard! You're shameless! You're a scoundrel!"
"A scoundrel?" Giorgio sneered coldly, his gaze carrying a hint of coldness, mockery, and disdain as he spoke, "You think I want to touch you? Rest assured; I have no interest in someone as filthy as you. Get out."
Anna looked at him with shock. He was humiliating her. With his icy voice and contemptuous words, he shattered her dignity, respect, and self-worth. She gritted her teeth tightly, got off him, and crouched down.
On the ground, tears couldn't help but flow. Drop by drop, like rain, they fell to the ground.
Giorgio shifted his gaze away, looking out of the car window, annoyance welled up and he unbuttoned one button, emanating a chilling aura.
Twenty minutes passed, and the car stopped at a mansion, but it wasn't a parking spot, rather an unusually quiet underground garage!
A dog barked, breaking the silence.
Anna’s heart sank and she had a bad premonition. She raised her teary eyes and saw Giorgio open the car door, his large hand stroking Blacky's black fur.
Blacky stuck out its tongue, glaring at her!
She froze, trembling, and stammered, "What are you going to do?"
Giorgio coldly raised an eyebrow, "Do? Do I need to remind you of our initial agreement?"
The agreement stated that she should not have any intimate interactions or improper relationships with any other man. If violated, Blacky would be taken away. This can't be!
Panic surged within Anna. "Giorgio, you can't do this! I told you it was a misunderstanding! I was really framed; I did not break the agreement!"
"You should have controlled it,” Giorgio retorted, his expression unyielding.
Anna was scared, trembling, panicked. Genuinely scared of Blacky from the depths of her heart! She had been afraid of dogs since she was young!
Giorgio stood outside the car, tall and imposing, with a strong and cold presence:" It's too late to be scared now. Besides, I won't believe your words anymore." With those chilling words, he turned and walked away.
Blacky lunged at Anna inside the car, prompting a terrifies scream.
"Giorgio, come back! Come back!" she pleaded desperately.
...
On the other side.
The siblings and grandchildren of the Vittorio family had gathered.
“Brother, why did you summon us so late?”
"Dad, I have something to attend to."
"On this holiday, are you giving us presents?"
Colombo Vittorio glanced at them and said, "I called you all here for a reason. Have you noticed that Katherine has been acting strange lately?"
Katherine? At the mention of her name, Giuseppe's expression slightly darkened.
Others chimed in:
"She’s definitely acting strangely. She's been on a winning streak, like she has a hidden advantage."
"She infuriates me just by seeing her. How can someone's luck be so good?"
Colombo's expression turned grave as he revealed a stack of photos. One by one, they were all about Katherine.
He solemnly said, "These are photos I gathered today, taken from company surveillance and discreet shots taken by my secretary.
“First, she was being meek and submissive to a security guard in the company lobby, not daring to speak up.”
“Second, she had been to the Vittorio Group countless times, yet she asked where the pantry was and didn't even know that Giorgio doesn't drink tea.”
“Third, at tonight's banquet, even Fabio, who always dotes on his sister, didn't even greet her. The atmosphere between the Stefanelli family and her was tense."
“But what’s most telling is her extreme dislike for Edith. She wouldn’t let Edith near Giorgio, but tonight, she didn't react at all when Edith confronted her. These signs made me believe that something must be fishy."
As Colombo calmly analyzed and narrated, everyone in the room furrowed their brows.
They picked up the photos one by one and examined them closely, discovering that Colombo's words were indeed true.
Abel Vittorio, who liked watching TV dramas, suddenly remembered something and said, "By the way, speaking of this, I also thought of something. Previously, Katherine was spoiled and didn't do any household chores except cooking to please Giorgio. But in that episode after their marriage, she cleaned the room for over an hour, and her cleaning was quite skilled. It didn't seem to be her usual style."
Henna also thought of something, "During that time when I invited her for a beauty treatment, she made a call to Mr. Vittorio. Wasn't she always intimate and referred to him as Giorgio?"
The more they talked, the stranger things seemed.
Giuseppe stared at the photos, recalling the time he went to Giorgio's villa when Katherine had resisted, even kicking him, and running away.
She resisted like a complete stranger.
Could it be...
"Ah! Could she have found some sort of witch to erase her memory?" Abel exclaimed in surprise and guessed.
The others immediately followed with speculations:
"It's not very likely. Where would such a mysterious thing happen?"
"If you ask me, I think there might be some hidden secrets she’s guarding!"
"Yes, we should use this opportunity, to expose her weaknesses, and get rid of her!"
Giuseppe's eyes narrowed underneath the frame of his glasses, and he put down his teacup.
"In my opinion, you are all overthinking this. She is busy with work and just got married, so it's normal for her to forget somethings. Now everyone's attention is on her, so she might be changing her personality, putting on a show to present a good side to everyone, which is also normal. And you all know that she is willing to do anything for her reputation, let alone being obedient to the security guard and tidying up the room. As for Fabio, it seems his parents are arranging blind dates for him, so it's normal for him to be unhappy."
Each sentence provided a reasonable explanation for their suspicions.
Is it really like this simple?
Everyone furrowed their brows, deep in thought and considering the truth of the matter.
Giuseppe glanced at everyone and slightly raised his lips.
"Tonight, Katherine was manipulated by someone. Whose tactics, were they?"
