Chapter 405 Traveling Thousands of Miles for Her

Anna spent her days juggling childcare, work, and brainstorming new designs.

The next afternoon, Lucia finished editing the video she had recorded earlier.

"Anna, check this out! The video turned out perfect," Lucia said, spinning in her office chair with excitement. "I have a feeling it’s going to go viral."

Anna sat down and clicked play.

The video wasn’t overly polished—just some music, filters, and Lucia’s voiceover.

Viewers could learn how to make apple pie, get info on different apple types, and feel a sense of calm.

But...

"Isn’t this just making apple pie? Are you sure there’s a market for this?"

Lucia nodded. "You grew up in the countryside, so you might not get it. With the rise of healthy eating, people care more about the nutritional value of their food. Showing them the variety and benefits of apples from a rural orchard and teaching them the process will catch their interest. Plus, modern life is stressful. People crave a simpler, pastoral life. There’s definitely a market. Let’s do a small survey tonight."

Anna frowned. "How do we survey?"

Lucia replied, "We’ll take the video to upscale places, get people to watch it, and ask for feedback. Good reviews will boost us, and bad ones will give us insights."

That night, after arranging for Charlie and Penny, Anna and Lucia, wearing masks, headed to the Moretti Club.

It was a playground for the rich and a job hub for the struggling.

Many people, squeezed by life, worked during the day and came here for part-time jobs at night.

Anna spotted a server in the hallway and approached her.

"Ma'am, can you spare two minutes to watch this video?"

"Sorry, miss, I don’t have time." The server hurried off.

Anna felt helpless.

She looked for the next target.

"Doing market research, huh?" a stylishly dressed woman asked.

Anna nodded. "Yes, how did you know?"

She hadn’t planned to ask her, thinking someone so well-dressed wouldn’t be interested.

The woman smiled. "I’ve done this kind of thing a lot. Let me help you out."

She took the phone from Anna and watched the video.

"This is great. It reminds me of my childhood."

"What?" Anna was surprised.

The woman explained, "My family was from the countryside. I studied hard and helped with housework and farm work. That was life. Later, I moved to a big city. I thought life would be better. I earn ten thousand dollars a month and wear expensive clothes, but the stress is overwhelming. I miss my simple childhood, the pastoral life. The city was once a dream, now the countryside is a luxury. Anyway, good luck."

With a sigh, the woman left.

Anna stood there, stunned.

What was going on? People in glamorous clothes longing for a simple, rustic life?

This was completely unexpected.

Feeling hopeful, she went to find the next target with renewed confidence.

Coincidentally, a private room door was open, and only one person was inside.

She raised her hand and knocked on the door. "Hello, can I take five minutes of your time for a quick survey?"

The person inside turned around, eyes lighting up. "Sure, come in," he said.

Anna stepped in and was taken aback.

The man inside was potbellied and looked unfriendly.

"Sorry, I'm doing a survey for women," Anna said.

"It's all the same. Different perspectives make it more comprehensive," the man said, gesturing for her to come in.

At the same time, he handed her a cup.

"I won't make it difficult for you, really. Just help me get a cup of water from the dispenser, and I promise to give you good feedback."

He seemed overly enthusiastic.

Seeing his sincere look, Anna thought getting a cup of water was a small matter and walked in without thinking much.

"Alright. Just watch this video and tell me your thoughts afterward. Thank you."

She handed him the phone and went to get water.

Unbeknownst to her, the figure behind her wasn't engrossed in the video but fixated on her skirt, his gaze trailing her long, slender legs, a detail not lost on him.

Today, Anna sported a short skirt, accentuating her enviable legs, a sight that captivated the man's attention. In his mind, she outshone any past companion.

Despite not glimpsing her face, he assumed her beauty matched her captivating form. With swift stealth, he whipped out his phone, activated the camera, and zoomed in for a closer view.

Unexpectedly, a cup hurtled through the air, striking his wrist with a resounding thud! A cry of anguish escaped him as the phone slipped from his grasp, pain ricocheting through his arm like a shattering force.

"What's going on?" Startled by the disturbance, Anna pivoted to discover the man on his knees, writhing in pain.

At the entrance, the composed and distant Giorgio approached, then squatted beside the man. Retrieving the man's phone, he inspected it briefly before tossing it into a nearby glass, his tone stern. "Don't stoop so low. Next time, it won't just be a phone you will lose."

Then, he stood up, walked directly to Anna, and pulled her away.

Anna was completely stunned.

She only realized what had happened later and felt surprised and angry.

But she was more shocked that Giorgio was here.

Before she could ask, Giorgio had already brought her to a quiet balcony, turned around, and looked at her deeply.

"Do you have no sense of caution with strangers? When will you start using your brain?"

Anna indeed hadn't considered it and accepted the scolding.

She bit her lip and said, "I didn't think too much at the moment. Isn't it just right that you came?"

"You mean you wanted to give me a chance to play the hero?" Giorgio retorted.

Clearly, he was angry.

Anna didn't understand. Nothing had happened, so why was he so angry?

She decided to change the subject.

"When did you come back? Weren't you supposed to be back in five or six days?"

Giorgio's eyes grew colder and deeper as he stared at her and asked, "Why didn't you reply to my messages or answer my calls?"

Anna was slightly stunned.

"Did you come back just because of that?"

"Yes," Giorgio replied swiftly.

Anna instantly felt uneasy.

She hadn't replied to his messages or answered his calls because she had thought of him being close to Katherine last night and felt uncomfortable, not wanting to deal with him.

But now, seeing him come back for her, all her discomfort seemed to be blown away by the wind.

She pretended not to understand.

"Did I? I went to bed early last night, got up this morning to send the kids to school, then filmed the video with Lucia. I haven't had a chance to check my phone. I'll look at it later."

Giorgio looked at her lying without blushing and asked, "Then why did Enrico tell me you didn't want to contact me?"

Anna was speechless.

Enrico told him everything?

She scratched her head.

"I thought you were on a trip and not in Crownhaven. If the power is out, contacting you won't solve it. So I didn't want to bother you."
