Chapter 429 Stupid Woman

"The boss said taking on a job and then aborting it for money is akin to guarding and stealing. But since it's Mr. Vittorio, we gotta show some respect. Transfer the money, and you can go."

"Really? Thanks, thanks!"

Anna excitedly went to help Charlie.

"But the boss also said," Landon interrupted, "Once you leave, we'll call the other party. They'll probably offer a new price for the task. So, no second chances. You have ten to fifteen minutes to escape. If you're caught, you know the consequences."

Anna's face went pale.

"$4,687,500 for ten minutes to escape? You're extorting us."

Landon replied seriously, "Mrs. Vittorio, you can choose not to take this chance."

His tone was arrogant and reckless.

Anna was both angry and anxious.

"You guys!"

"Anna, it's okay, give them the card."

Giorgio stood up with difficulty, glaring at Landon.

"Tell the other party I know who he is. If he wants to live, he should back off. Anna, let's go."

"Okay."

Anna tossed them the card and pulled Charlie to run outside.

Ten minutes, life or death, every second counted.

She sprinted like she was running an 800-meter dash.

After a short distance, a heavy sound came from behind.

They stopped and looked back, seeing Giorgio collapse, supporting himself on one knee like a wounded beast.

"Giorgio? Giorgio, what's wrong?"

Anna ran back and checked him over but found no injuries.

Charlie cried beside them.

"It's all my fault. I gave Daddy an anesthetic; he won't have any strength for three hours."

"What? You drugged your dad? Charlie, what are you talking about? Are you scared?"

"No," Charlie guiltily explained, "I wanted to stage a fake kidnapping to ease the tension between you two. I didn't know they knew and took the opportunity to impersonate the people I hired. I'm sorry, it's all my fault."

Anna realized it wasn't a real kidnapping from the start!

Charlie was really a piece of work.

Including the incident at Vista Heights, this was already the second time.

But now wasn't the time to point fingers.

Giorgio said, "Anna, take Charlie and go. They're targeting me, not you."

Anna shook her head.

"Precisely because they're targeting you, I can't leave you behind. Come on, I'll help you, and we'll go together."

She reached out to support Giorgio.

He was tall and big, nearly six foot three.

Her petite frame seemed so powerless at this moment.

"This won't work."

Giorgio grabbed Anna, his expression grave and serious.

"Time is limited. You must take Charlie and go! Listen to me, you go find help first, I'll hold them off and wait for rescue."

"I don't want to."

Anna was really worried.

He was drugged and had no strength to resist.

Leaving him behind would surely mean a grim fate.

She anxiously looked around for a way to help.

It was pitch dark all around, and she couldn't see anything.

"I've got it! You hide here and wait until you regain your strength before leaving. Charlie and I will run outside to draw them away."

"That's a good idea!"

Charlie agreed enthusiastically!

He stopped crying and helped Anna pull at the surrounding weeds and dead trees.

Giorgio watched the woman and child, being protected by them for the first time.

He now only hoped they would leave safely, not caring about the plan.

"Okay, you go."

"Alright."

Anna quickly covered Giorgio with the debris and stood up.

"Don't move. They'll be too busy chasing outside to notice you. Charlie, come with me."

"Anna," Giorgio called out.

"Take care of Charlie and yourself."

Anna hadn't heard him speak like this in a long time. In this life-or-death moment, his calm maturity and charm made her heart race. She suddenly felt the urge to apologize.

"Giorgio, I'm sorry for what happened before."

Then, she pulled Charlie and quickly left.

Giorgio's eyes darkened. In the past, a simple apology wouldn't have moved him. But now, all his anger dissipated. It seemed all he needed was that one sentence.

Footsteps approached. It hadn't even been ten minutes. With Anna and Charlie's speed, they hadn't gotten far. Giorgio couldn't let them be in danger. His gaze fell on a sharp bamboo shard. He reached for it and stabbed a specific spot on his arm. Blood flowed instantly, bringing clarity and lessening the drug's effect.

His eyes turned sharp as he focused ahead. As the men approached, he raised his hand and struck forcefully! The first man fell. The others, caught off guard, stumbled and fell on top of each other. Giorgio seized the opportunity to stand, grabbing the hand of the man on top and twisting it forcefully, throwing him aside. Then, he kicked the second man who stood up, swiftly and decisively.

The men were at a disadvantage. They hadn't expected Giorgio to ambush them here, and they were both angry and frustrated.

"Mr. Vittorio, what a strategy. Since that's the case, we'll go all out. Everyone, attack together!"

Six blond, blue-eyed men took out iron rods and charged at Giorgio, surrounding him. Giorgio fought alone. Even with his strength and skills limited, he remained fearless and fought desperately. Under the dark night sky, the chaotic battle was like a lion fighting six wolves. Life and death hung in the balance, thrilling and terrifying.

For a full twenty minutes, the scene was dangerous. When Anna ran back, she saw the horrifying sight—Giorgio covered in blood, his white shirt stained and tattered, still fighting the remaining two men, proud and noble. She hadn't expected him to fight while drugged! And to take down so many opponents! But he was clearly injured and exhausted. If this continued, he wouldn't last much longer.

Just as she thought this, one of the men who had been knocked down got up, holding a broken glass bottle, and charged at Giorgio! Giorgio, entangled with the two men, didn't notice.

"Giorgio! Watch out!"

Without thinking, Anna rushed over. The sound of glass piercing flesh echoed. Giorgio had no time to react. When he turned, he saw Anna, pale and in pain, falling towards him!

"Anna!"

He caught her, seeing the bleeding wound on her back, and his eyes turned red! No woman had ever risked her life to protect him. He kicked out, sending the man flying 3 feet away, landing with a thud and losing consciousness. Giorgio turned and quickly defeated the remaining two men with precise, lethal strikes. Then, he held Anna and crouched down.

"Stupid woman, who told you to come back!"

As a man, he didn't need her to take risks. He wanted her and Charlie to be safe! His harsh tone was a mix of reprimand, anger, and worry. Anna looked at the complex emotions on his handsome face. Finally, it wasn't disdain. She managed a weak smile.

"I got Charlie to the car and thought I'd come back to check on you. I'm fine, you're fine, that's good."
