Chapter 228 Mr. Vittorio Gets Jealous
"Don't worry, I've found a job that I can do and grow with. Things are going well, and they're bound to get even better. I'll make sure to win over your parents."
She was different from other girls; while others might try to ingratiate themselves with his parents, she wanted to prove herself and earn their recognition. Perhaps it was her honest and optimistic attitude that caught his attention.
Simon asked with interest, "Oh? Is that so? What job?"
"It's a secret; I won't tell you for now." The girl was too lively, every frown and smile endearing.
Simon smiled gently and indulgently.
He thought there would never be another girl who would occupy his thoughts, whom he would long to see, and whose presence he wanted to be surrounded by.
"Simon, have you had dinner? Would you like to come in and eat with us?" Anna asked.
Simon would have liked to, but unfortunately, he had promised Mirlinda to only see Anna for half an hour.
Excluding the drive, there wasn't much time left.
"Anna, let's just sit for a while."
"Oh, okay." They really could only sit for a while here, to avoid being photographed by those with ulterior motives.
Anna looked at the gift in her hands, feeling inexplicably uneasy and conflicted.
He had come especially to give her a present, to see her. Based on the dynamics of their relationship, should she give him a hug or a kiss to qualify as a good girlfriend?
Moreover, by playing Katherine and being with Giorgio, she had already wronged him.
But to initiate a kiss or something, that would be so awkward...
The air was quiet, the currents of air stirred, and an unusual emotion spread between the two.
"Anna." Simon suddenly spoke, reaching out to grasp Anna's wrist, pulling her close, and looking deeply into her eyes.
"I love you."
Three words, so heartfelt and certain, and for him, incredibly heavy.
The next time they met, the next words spoken would be a saddened goodbye.
Anna was stunned by his sudden confession. As she looked at the face before her, too delicate, his eyes warm and soft, her palm tightened, and her lips moved. Instinctively, she closed her eyes.
In this situation, you're supposed to close your eyes, right?
Simon’s Adam's apple moved as he watched her delicate, flushed face closing in.
She was the first woman to stir his interest and desire, and in truth, with his status, he could have touched her, claimed her.
The nerves along his spine tensed, and he slowly leaned in.
'Ding-dong!' Just then, a sudden text message alert rang out, shattering the silence and the atmosphere.
Simon instantly pulled back, his rationality returning.
What had he been thinking? How could he have such thoughts about her?
Anna also quickly opened her eyes, feeling awkward yet inexplicably relieved.
She said, "It must be your phone; check if it's an important message."
Simon glanced at her, hummed softly, and elegantly sat back down as he took out his phone.
On it was a text from Mirlinda, urging him to come back.
His gaze deepened slightly, and he put away his phone.
"Anna, it's cold tonight; you should go back first. Call me when Katherine wakes up, and I'll come to pick you and Penny up right away."
He had brought her here, so naturally, he would ensure her safe return, which would be the last thing he did for her.
"Okay, sure, it should be in the next day or two; I'll contact you then!" Anna didn't notice the man's dim and lost look in his eyes. After speaking, she pushed open the car door and got out.
"Simon, thank you for the gift; I will cherish it. Goodbye."
"Uh-huh, goodbye."
Simon watched her leave with a warm gaze, but as her slender figure receded into the distance, the brightness in his eyes dimmed and disappeared bit by bit.
Goodbye, the girl he deeply loved and would always keep in his heart.
Inside the villa.
Anna returned to the dining room with the gift in her hands, the recent scenes playing through her mind, leaving her feeling awkward. She and Simon were boyfriend and girlfriend, both adults; kissing was normal, so why the awkwardness and turmoil?
"Anna, you're back! Why is your face so red?"
"You look like the female lead in a Korean drama who just had a moment with the lead actor," the two little ones chimed in.
Giorgio's penetrating gaze fell on Anna's face.
Under the light, her skin was porcelain and her lips red, with a flush of delicate pink on her full and clean apple cheeks, looking fresh and juicy.
Had she really done something with Simon?
Giorgio's eyes darkened instantly.
Anna, sensing his intense gaze, instinctively averted her eyes and patted her cheeks. "Is that so? Maybe it's just the cold night air. Don't overthink it, let's continue with the pizza!"
She sat down and took another slice from a pepperoni pizza. "Wow, it's delicious! You guys should eat more."
Her exaggerated actions and contrived expression were clear to anyone trying to change the subject.
Giorgio gave her a cold glance, stood up, took something from the table, and went upstairs.
His posture was haughty, his retreating figure exuding an unmistakable chill.
"Daddy seems angry?"
"Huh? What's he angry about?" Anna was clueless.
"Daddy likes you, and you've been with Mr. Dalio, ignoring him, so of course he's angry." Charlie said.
"Pfft!" Anna spat out the pizza she was eating, thankfully turning away in time to cover her mouth, preventing it from spraying on little Charlie's face.
After catching her breath, she looked at Charlie. "Don't talk nonsense, how could your daddy possibly like me? He'd spank your little butt if he heard you."
Charlie pouted, "It's just my intuition! Bystanders see the clearest!"
"Intuition can be wrong, taste can’t. Try the chicken pizza," she said, plugging his little mouth.
Anna forced a piece of chicken pizza into Charlie's mouth.
Distracted by the delicious food, he nodded instantly, "Mmm, tasty!"
Anna finally breathed a sigh of relief, internally scoffing.
With Giorgio's attitude and approach to women, at best he was just playing around and satisfying his needs; he couldn't possibly like any woman.
And she, so ordinary and powerless, was even less likely to win his favor.
Even if there were feelings, it was probably what she had guessed before: a man's possessiveness.
They say children were pure and innocent, and indeed, the words of children were simple and naive.
After finishing the pizza, Charlie patted his round belly and said, "Anna, let's watch a movie and then have some birthday cake!"
"Ah? Go out this late?" Anna did want to watch a movie with the little ones, but she felt her current identity and timing weren't quite right.
Charlie said, "Are you silly, Anna? We have a movie theater at home."
Right. She had forgotten she was living in a wealthy household.
"Okay, then let's watch a movie!"
The three of them arrived at the spacious home theater.
A super-large wall screen and comfortable reclining seats made it countless times more luxurious than a movie theater!
"Jackpot! I want to lie on the couch and watch Minions and Princess Elsa!" Penny ran over excitedly, took off her shoes, and lay down.
Charlie, who was about to play 'Resident Evil,' decisively exited the search and started looking for 'Minions.'
But after finding it, he suddenly remembered something, looked at Penny, and said, "Penny, today is Anna's birthday, how about we choose a movie Anna likes? I'll watch Minions and Elsa with you tomorrow."
Penny, being very understanding, said, "Right, it's Mommy's birthday today; let's play mommy's favorite movie!"
"Anna, what do you want to watch?"
Anna’s heart was overwhelmed with sweetness as she looked at the two sensible children. "No need; whatever you two like is fine. I don't have a favorite."
"That won't do; I'll go find Daddy. He must know what you like to watch."
Charlie dashed off with a clatter.
"Hey!" Anna didn't even have the chance to call him back, leaving her feeling frustrated and headachy.
How could Giorgio possibly know what movies she liked?
However, to her surprise—
