Chapter 97 He Cornered Her!
He was quite tall.
His arm was pressing against the door from her side, keeping her inside dominantly and assertively.
This was the hospital cafeteria, with many people coming and going. He's someone who is about to get married, and yet...
Anna's mind was in chaos. She nervously looked at the man's Adam's apple in front of her, and asks, "Mr. Vittorio... What are you doing? Let me go back to the ward."
Giorgio, with a faint smile, patiently asks her, "Going back to get your phone?"
"Yes!" Anna emphatically nodded.
The next moment, the man takes out the phone from her hand and places it in front of her.
"What's this?"
"Well... uh... " Caught lying red-handed, this was too embarrassing!
Anna awkwardly tugged at her hair and laughed, embarrassed.
"Well... I didn't notice! Turns out the phone was in my hand all along! Since I found the phone, I'll go back to take care of Penny. Thank you."
After saying that, she tried to slip away.
Giorgio grabbed her shoulder and pulled her back, leaning down and staring straight at her.
"You were avoiding me, weren't you."
It was a statement, not a question.
Anna's face turned pale, and she shook her head vigorously. "No! Absolutely not!"
She spoke with conviction, but as her words fell, she realized that this man, with a completely distrustful attitude, watches her perform as though she's lying.
"Okay, fine. I did lie, I am avoiding you."
Giorgio's expression darkened.
He knew it, every time he went to find her, she was either not there or in the restroom. It was too obvious.
"Why?" He's not a man-eating tiger, nor will he eat her.
For Anna there was something even scarier than being eaten by him.
As soon as she sees him, she would recall the question he asked her two nights ago.
It made her feel uncomfortable. Reluctantly she says, "You're about to marry Katherine, officially making you, my brother-in-law. We should maintain a certain distance in our relationship. I don't think it's appropriate."
Tomorrow, he is going to marry Katherine, yet she still maintains this cold attitude. Giorgio's anger welled up inside him. Although he couldn't determine his true feelings for her, inexplicably, he didn't want to sever all ties with this woman and let her go so easily. He lifted his slender, jade-like fingers and gripped her chin. His voice rose, filled with a chilling interrogation. "What if I say I won't marry her?"
Anna's pupils fiercely shook. "What did you say? Not marry Katherine?" The whole country knew about the wedding, how could he not marry her?
Ignoring Anna's shock, Giorgio tilted her face upwards and locked eyes with her. "Tell me, if I don't marry Katherine, then what am I to you?"
Anna remained silent. His tone was soft, causing her heart to tremble and flutter. What, was he trying to test her? She couldn't be fooled! Suppressing her surging emotions, she pursed her lips and said, "Mr. Vittorio, even if you don't marry Katherine, it won't change anything between us. If you marry her, you'll be my brother-in-law. If you don't, you'll be my employer when it comes to taking care of Charlie. That won't change."
With a resolute and forceful statement, she forcefully pushed him away, opened the door, and ran out directly. Outside the door, the sun was warm and gentle, while inside, darkness loomed. Giorgio's three-dimensional and exquisite face was hidden in the darkness. The already icy lines on his face became even more dangerous and chilling.
Insomnia Club.
Giorgio returned to the club once again, his posture cold and his aura forbidding.
"Giorgio, is Anna bothering you again?" Tom asked. "It's either you ignore her or conquer her."
Giorgio completely disregarded Tom's words. He was well aware that it was difficult to suppress Anna's irrational emotions. In the past thirty years of his lackluster and joyless life, she was the first woman to make his heart skip a beat.
So, when he asked that question earlier, he wanted to know if their relationship would change if he wasn't her brother-in-law. The answer she gave was resolute, decisive, and certain. Dammit! What exactly was she thinking? Was she a woman with her heart set on another man instead of him?
"Giorgio, are you planning to show up at the wedding like this?" Tom's voice rang out. Giorgio glanced at him, picked up the glass of red wine on the table, and downed it in one gulp. A wedding? There won't be a wedding tomorrow.
"Ding dong ding dong~" The mobile phone on the table rang. It was Katherine. Giorgio glanced at it indifferently, then continued drinking his wine without answering. Shortly after, Tom's phone rang again. "Giorgio, it's Katherine. Should I answer or not? What should I say?" Giorgio glanced at him and replied, "It's up to you."
With that tone, he decided not to answer.
After a while, Enrico's phone also rang.
It was Katherine again.
He glanced at Giorgio's cold and indifferent face and finally hung up.
Katherine called three times in a row, but no one answered. She was furious.
After returning from Vista Heights, Giorgio didn't go to the hospital, and he claimed to be busy with official matters, too busy to meet anyone.
Those that were a part of his group knew that he would soon be going to investigate the possible mole who was feeding information to the police.
They were getting married tomorrow, yet he still actively hadn't contacted her.
"Mom, I'm feeling restless. I have a feeling something bad will happen. Do you think Giorgio might cancel the wedding?"
Carla gently held her hand. "No, he won't. As the wedding approaches, he has a lot to do, and not answering calls is normal. Besides, you both have Charlie, and he will definitely marry you. Just focus on taking care of your skin. Otherwise, if your skin doesn't look good tomorrow, how can you be a beautiful bride?"
Katherine didn't let anyone know about Charlie, including her mother.
Apart from her, only Anna, the person involved, knew about it.
Unexplainably, the thought of Anna made her uneasy.
"No, I can't stay here. Mom, please check my dress and jewelry for me."
After saying that, Katherine took the car keys, left through the back door, and headed straight for Dalio Hospital.
