Chapter 27 Anna Getting Married?

Villa.

All was quiet, with the lights outside shining like silver petals and the fountain murmuring. The night, beautiful and serene.

On the modern and elegant sofa, a man and a child sat side by side.

"Daddy, why hasn't Auntie come back yet? Did she encounter some bad people on the way?" Charlie couldn't help but speak up. Ever since he started living with Anna, he had become reliant on her and seemed to have turned into a chatterbox.

"There have been frequent news about girls being kidnapped recently, and Auntie is beautiful. She might have caught the eye of some bad people," Charlie said.

Giorgio had never seen the child so concerned about someone, speaking so much. He raised an eyebrow coldly and asked, "When have you cared about your daddy so much?"

Charlie replied coldly, "I wouldn't care about you even if you were beaten by ten wolves. What's there to care about? Daddy, should I call her? If you don't call her soon, I'll worry so much that I'll cry." The consequences of crying would be serious!

A flicker crossed Giorgio's face. That brat was using that woman's safety to threaten him! Was he really his biological child, or was he that woman's?

But Charlie wasn’t the only person worried about Anna. As he spoke to his son, he was thinking to himself, “I can't believe I'm feeling this way. It's Anna, for heaven's sake. The woman I can't stand, the one whose mere presence irritates me. So why am I so concerned about her safety? It doesn't make any sense. Maybe it's just the circumstances. She got involved in something dangerous, and I can't help but worry about anyone in that situation, right? But why does it feel like my heart clenches every time I think about her being in danger?

I can't believe I'm admitting this to myself, but I do care about her. Damn it, I might even love her.

But how can that be? We've argued and clashed so many times, it's hard to remember a time when we didn't despise each other's very existence. And yet, here I am, worried sick about her safety.”

Maybe it was those moments when he would catch her off guard, her eyes softening, or when she laughed genuinely at one of Charlie’s jokes. Maybe it was the way she would always stand her ground, fiercely defending her beliefs, even if they were completely opposite to his. But something in Anna was appealing to him. He just did not realise it yet. If he did, he was too afraid to admit it.

With a cold expression on his face, Giorgio looked towards Little Tony in the corner and ordered him to make the call.

Little Tony obeyed and took out his phone, ready to dial.

"Ding dong!" The doorbell rang.

Little Tony walked over to open the door and was slightly surprised. "Miss Stefanelli, Charlie was worried about you and said he wanted to call you."

Upon hearing that Anna had come back, Charlie immediately ran over from the sofa. "Auntie, you're back..."

Before he finished speaking, his little face drooped. "It's not Auntie."

If it wasn't Anna, it must be Katherine!

Little Tony felt embarrassed and quickly apologized. "I'm sorry, Katherine. You and your sister, Miss Stefanelli, look exactly alike. That's why I mistook you. I'm really sorry."

Katherine was taken aback. Both Charlie and Little Tony mistook her for Anna? Was Charlie running over eagerly to welcome Anna?

That damned woman had sneaked into the villa behind her back, manipulating Charlie's heart!

Thinking about Anna's suffering in the future, her hatred towards her balanced out a little. She mustered a smile and said, "Charlie, you can talk now. Can you say 'mom'?"

Her voice was gentle, her smile sweet.

Charlie looked at her with his black and white eyes and shook his head. In the next second, he turned and carried his teddy bear upstairs.

With his small steps and figure, he remained as cold and aloof as ever, willful and introverted.

Little Tony and Giorgio were slightly puzzled. According to their calculations, Charlie should have longed for maternal love, so why wasn't he happy with Katherine?

Perhaps it was a reverse psychology caused by his intense desire?

Little Tony didn't dare to say much and quickly went upstairs to look after Charlie.

Katherine felt extremely embarrassed.

Why did Charlie like Anna and not her when they had the same face? What should she do to dispel Giorgio's suspicions?

That rebellious kid did not listen!

She suppressed her emotions, walked to Giorgio's side, and apologized in a soft voice. "I'm sorry, Giorgio. I had a high fever these past few days and it was uncomfortable. I was worried about infecting Charlie, plus I was on a film shoot in the mountains, so I couldn't come to see you and Charlie. It's only right that Charlie is resistant to me. I was too focused on work and didn't truly care about him. Giorgio, let me move in and take care of Charlie, let us build a relationship."

Her voice was soft, full of guilt and self-blame. This also provided an explanation for Charlie's detachment from her.

Giorgio furrowed his brows slightly. He had thought about asking Katherine to move in when Anna first moved in, so that Charlie's affection wouldn't be misplaced. Now that Katherine took the initiative to reflect on it, he should be happy, so why was there a subconscious resistance within him?

Looking at the man's inscrutable face covered in mist, Katherine couldn't see through his thoughts. In fact, she had never been able to see through him.

She was unwilling. Why was Anna allowed to move in, but she wasn't?

She continued, "Giorgio, I know that Anna understands Charlie better than me and can take care of him. But Anna is only his maternal aunt, and it's not good for her reputation to live here. Besides, she's getting married soon and it's hard for her to focus on taking care of Charlie. It's not right for us to keep bothering her and interrupting her."

A smile appeared on Giorgio's lips. "Getting married?"

His voice was tinged with coldness and surprise.

Katherine nodded. "Yes, I accidentally heard from her adoptive mother that she's going to marry that middle-aged widower, Black Jack. My sister is really something. Although she will inherit all of Black Jack's property after his death, how can she give up her lifelong happiness? Ah, next time we meet, I must have a good talk with her."

In just a few words, it seemed like she was expressing concern, but in reality, every word was just to inform him that Anna was marrying an old man for money.

Giorgio's face turned cold.

Wasn't the black card he gave Anna enough? Was she really in such desperate need of money?

A frost spread through the air.

Katherine smiled, suddenly clutching her stomach and pale-faced. "Ah, it hurts so much..."

She suffered from severe gynecological problems, painful periods, and the doctor determined that it was because she had entered into physical intimacy too early, coupled with having a child too early.

Of course, this was all false.

Giorgio didn't know the truth, so he regarded himself as the root cause of Katherine's monthly pain. He collected his thoughts and said, "Go back to your room and rest. I'll have Tom bring some medicine over."

"Okay, thank you, Giorgio." Katherine weakly spoke, clutching her belly and 'struggling' upstairs.

Once she entered the room, the pain on her face disappeared, replaced by a look of satisfaction and happiness.

Although Giorgio didn't show enough concern for her and didn't take care of her intimately like other boyfriends, she could use this as an excuse to stay, move in, and have more opportunities in the future.

And his disgust towards Anna was the result she desired.

"My dear sister, I hope you're doing well..."

In a dark room.

It was cold, so cold.

Anna, in a daze, saw nothing but darkness and felt the chilling coldness. She didn't know where she was, her mind was muddled, and she felt uncomfortable, sinking into a heavy unconsciousness and darkness.

It felt like a century had passed when the bright sunlight poured into the room and footsteps echoed in her ears. She suddenly opened her eyes wide!

What entered her vision was the room of a vulgar nouveau riche. Even the small ornaments hinted at the taste of the owner of the house. A man walked step by step towards her, with a big belly and a bald head. She couldn't stand the sight of him.

Black Jack!

He was the one who knocked her out and brought her here!

"Black Jack, you bastard!" Anna angrily cursed, trying to escape. However, with a 'clatter', the sound of iron chains rang out. Only then did she realize that her hands and feet were bound by iron locks. She got angry and said, "What you're doing is illegal, you're unlawfully kidnapping me! Let me go, set me free!"

Black Jack chuckled, walking to her side and looking down at her. He stood high, locking her gaze.

"It's been so long, and you still haven't learned your lesson, huh? Well, continue to drink this then. I want to see you submit to me again, enjoying every moment, don't you?" His vile voice was filled with wickedness.

Anna furrowed her brows. What did he mean by 'so long' and 'every time'?

Before she could think further, Black Jack passed her a cup of water. It was just clear, colorless water, innocent looking, but definitely not something good!

No, she couldn't drink it!

She was currently tied up, and if she drank it, she would undoubtedly die!

What should she do?

How could she escape?

Who could save her?

Just as Anna felt panic and helplessness...
