Chapter 448 Obstacles on the Path to Pursuing His Wife
Charlie’s questions hit hard.
Anna had come here to avoid Giorgio and everything else. The thought of seeing him left her feeling drained and scared.
"Alright, Auntie Anna, that jerk knows I'm looking for you, so he won't worry. If you need to cry or get drunk, I'm here for you. I'll be your guardian angel."
Children are like little comforters, and Charlie was definitely making her feel better by just being there.
Anna hugged him, feeling more sad and guilty. Her emotions affected the kid, and she even left Penny behind, which she shouldn't have done.
Eventually, she took Charlie back to the hospital.
Sara saw her red, swollen eyes and knew something was wrong but didn't ask because of the kid.
After Charlie fell asleep, she asked, "What happened with Mr. Vittorio? He came by earlier, looking anxious. Did you two have a fight?"
Anna shook her head, not wanting to talk, but she couldn't help crying.
"We didn't fight. He slept with Katherine. I saw it."
Tears streamed down her face.
Sara was shocked. "He slept with Katherine? You saw it? How? If he liked Katherine, why would he pursue you? He doesn't seem unfaithful. Are you sure?"
Anna didn't believe Giorgio was like that until tonight. Katherine's appearance made her realize that she never truly knew him.
He could be gentle and caring but also casually sleep with Katherine for Viviana's or his own needs.
How sincere was he?
None of it mattered now. She needed to avoid more pain and cut her losses.
"Sara, I saw the video of him and Katherine and heard his voice. It's real. I asked him, and he admitted it. Drunk or not, I can't forgive him. I don't want to get hurt again. Let's just grow old together, you and I."
Sara was shocked again. A video is hard to fake. Besides,he admitted it.
She hugged Anna, feeling her pain.
"Alright, let's stay away from jerks. We'll keep each other warm and never fall for anyone again."
Anna nodded, but her tears kept flowing.
If she knew that it would hurt this much so soon, she wouldn't have been tempted to try. She should have stayed away from him.
That night, Anna cried herself to sleep.
The next morning, her eyes were red and swollen.
"Mommy, what's wrong?" Penny asked, concerned.
Charlie, knowing the reason, made an excuse.
"Auntie Anna went to pick me up last night, and the wind blew into her eyes. Penny, let's go to school and let your mommy rest."
"Okay, Charlie," Penny said, nodding obediently.
Charlie took Anna's phone, typed something, then handed it back to her, whispering, "Auntie Anna, I set up an anti-tracking system on your phone. He can't call you. I did it on my phone too, so he can't track you through me."
Giorgio thought, 'Winning back my wife is tough, especially with my own son in the way.'
After dropping the kids off at the kindergarten bus, Anna was heading to the studio when Lucia called.
"Anna, when are you coming in? I just got here and saw Mr. Vittorio's car outside. Looks like he waited all night for you."
Anna was shocked. He waited outside all night? That took a lot of effort.
But no grand apology can fix a mistake as big as his.
"Lucia, my eyes are messed up, so I can't film for a couple of days. Can you edit the footage we already have?"
Lucia, having been through similar stuff, knew something was up.
"Alright, take care. If you need to talk, I'm here. And don't stress over a guy."
"Don't worry, I won't," Anna said firmly and hung up.
Maybe avoiding it was running away, but that's all she could do right now.
Her phone rang again. It was Giuseppe.
She answered. "Mr. Vittorio, sorry, I stayed with Sara last night."
"It's okay. Anna, I need to stay at the Greenwood Project Department for a couple of days. Can you come over? I'll arrange a driver for Penny's school."
Giuseppe's tone was considerate, making it hard for Anna to refuse. Plus, it was just helping with cooking and chores.
Soon, they'd have nothing to do with each other.
"Okay, I'll pack some stuff and come over," Anna agreed.
When she got to the Greenwood Project Department, she was shocked by how huge it was. It was like a small city, a waste of space in such a pricey area.
Giuseppe walked over. "Look, this is your design, divided into detailed areas with all the data marked. In two years, it'll be perfect."
Anna looked at the grand electronic concept map and felt proud.
She smiled. "Great, when it's done, I'll come visit."
"You'll be the first person invited," Giuseppe said confidently.
This project was special to him and filled with her dreams. He'd do his best to complete it perfectly.
"Mr. Vittorio, something's wrong!" Giovanni ran in, looking worried.
"A big group is outside, blocking the entrance. They say this is their hangout spot and oppose any construction. Some are lying on the ground, saying we have to go over their bodies. Media reporters are already there."
Giuseppe frowned. "Why are they causing trouble now?"
Giovanni said, "They might have been rallying people. Mr. Vittorio, you should check it out."
"Alright," Giuseppe said, heading outside.
"I'll go with you," Anna said, following him.
Outside, she was stunned. There was a huge crowd, media reporters, and Vittorio, who had just arrived.
