Chapter 435 Love Bravely Once
Anna raised an eyebrow, surprised at Giorgio.
"Fabio's inside. She needs him more right now," he said.
Sara really wanted to hear Fabio's voice and see him.
Anna knew she had to go in.
"Don't worry, I'll just say a few words and come out," she told Giorgio before entering the operating room.
Inside, Sara lay on the hospital bed, hooked up to various machines, looking pale.
Anna remembered the cheerful girl Sara used to be, always bright like a sunflower.
Love had done this to her.
Anna pressed her lips together and walked over, gently holding Sara's hand.
"Sara, you scared me. You can't be so reckless, leaving Penny and me behind. If anything happened to you, I wouldn't know what to do. Promise me you'll stay strong. Look, Fabio's here. He rushed over as soon as he heard. He cares about you. When you get better, you two still have a future."
Fabio didn't like that. He shot a sharp look at Anna, but Giorgio pulled him aside.
"First, give her a reason to live. That's your job."
It was harsh but true.
Fabio was stunned.
He didn't get why Giorgio was involved. Giorgio usually stayed out of things.
Suspicious, Fabio stared at him.
"You and Anna should be in Corystania. What's going on? Is there something between you and Anna? Is that why you care about her sister?"
It was a wild guess, said offhandedly.
Giorgio laughed mockingly and didn't deny it.
"So what if there is? You should know I'm serious. Take care of Sara."
With that, he led Anna away, looking even more dignified.
Fabio stood there, stunned.
'So what if there is?' Giorgio just admitted to being close to Anna. Impossible! There must be a misunderstanding.
He thought for a long time before going back to Sara's bedside. Looking at her pale face, his expression turned cold.
Take care of her? Of course, he would.
He didn't want his life ruined by Sara.
Three days and nights had passed since Sara's incident.
Anna stayed by Sara's side, taking care of her.
Giorgio stayed as long as Anna did.
On the fourth day, Sara finally moved from critical to stable and could speak.
"Anna, I'm sorry for worrying you."
"You know I am worried? When I saw you, my world collapsed. I almost fainted," Anna said, recalling that moment, still feeling overwhelmed.
"Sara, you have to get better and make it up to my poor heart."
"Okay, okay, I just wasn't thinking clearly."
She had fallen for Fabio at first sight, knowing it wouldn't end well. But after spending so much time together, she couldn't help it. Her heart sank deeper and deeper, and her body followed.
When he left her, saying they'd never see each other again, she fell into darkness, suffocated, and jumped with her eyes closed.
Thinking back, it was ridiculous.
"Alright, Anna, let's not talk about me," Sara said, glancing at the door.
"Mr. Vittorio has been with you these past few days. Are you two dating?"
"No!"
Anna blushed and quickly denied it.
"How could I be dating Mr. Vittorio? Don't say that."
"Why not? Mr. Vittorio likes you, and you like him. You should be together," Sara said seriously.
Thinking of something, she added, "Don't bring up Katherine. She pretended to be you from the start. If it weren't for her, you and Mr. Vittorio would have kids by now. You don't appreciate a good man like him. Do you have to wait until you meet someone like Fabio to regret it? Or wait until Mr. Vittorio really walks away, and then you cry. Anna, listen to me. You only have one life, be brave and love once."
Anna pressed her lips together, unsure what to say.
Honestly, after Sara's suicide attempt, she was even more afraid of love.
Love felt like poison; once touched, it was a disaster.
But Sara was right. You only live once; you should be brave.
She felt a headache coming on, conflicted.
"Just rest. Don't worry about me. I'll go pick up Penny and let Mr. Vittorio rest."
"Okay, go ahead, and remember to be brave!"
Anna rolled her eyes at her.
"The one who needs to be brave is you. If you ever try something as stupid as jumping again, I'll throw your body on the mountain to feed the bugs."
"You're disgusting! Just go."
Anna walked out of the ward and ran into Fabio returning. Only then did she feel at ease to leave.
Otherwise, she feared that turning away would mean a lifetime.
Outside, Giorgio, dressed in a suit, was handling documents on his phone, reviewing files. He looked noble, mature, and steady.
He had been doing this for the past few days.
Even though they had no relationship, he silently stayed by her side, taking care of her wounds.
Moreover, if it weren't for him, Sara would have missed the best time for rescue and left this world.
Anna felt deeply grateful.
"Mr. Vittorio, Sara's condition has improved. We don't need to stay at the hospital all the time. Let's go. I'll treat you to a meal."
Giorgio put away his phone and stood up.
"Alright."
They went to a secluded restaurant.
Anna ordered a bunch of food and two bottles of wine, sincerely thanking him.
"Mr. Vittorio, this drink is for you. Thank you for your help these past few days. I'll finish it; you can do as you please."
She was straightforward and bold.
Giorgio frowned and raised his hand to stop her.
"You're injured; no drinking."
He then instructed the waiter, "Get her a freshly squeezed juice." Showing his mature and caring side.
Anna felt even more nervous, withdrawing her hand.
"Wine is fine. Do these dishes suit your taste? If not, we can order more."
"No need, I'm not very hungry," Giorgio interrupted her, his deep gaze fixed on her.
"If you have something to say, just say it."
Anna frowned.
"I really have nothing to say, just wanted to thank you for your help. Truly."
Afraid he wouldn't believe her, she raised her hand to swear.
Giorgio wasn't pleased by this; instead, his face grew more solemn and calm.
"Is that all? Do you think I did all that just for you to treat me to a meal? Sorry, but I don't need a meal."
His words were cold, noble, and decisive.
Anna's face stiffened, and all her relaxed emotions vanished.
She really just wanted to thank him by treating him to a meal.
Unexpectedly, he got angry.
She pressed her lips together and explained, "I didn't mean it that way. I just thought I should treat you to a meal. I didn't think much more about it."
"Alright, then let me ask you, have you thought about us?" Giorgio asked deeply.
This question was too direct.
