Chapter 483 Anna Gets into a Car Accident
Charlie barged in like a bull in a china shop, totally outta nowhere. If it had been anyone else, they might've been toast!
The shareholders were all like, 'Who the heck is Charlie talking about? Mr. Vittorio wouldn't hurt a lady, right?'
"Get out." A cold, low voice cut through the room. The shareholders didn't need to be told twice. "Yes, sir." They scrambled outta there like their pants were on fire.
Silence settled back in. Giorgio glared at the fuming little Charlie at the door. "Charlie, that was rude. Get out, knock, and come back in."
Charlie hesitated, "No way, I wanna know about you and Auntie Anna!"
"Say it again, knock, and come in." Giorgio's face was like stone, his tone icy. "Anyone without basic manners doesn't get to ask questions."
Grinding his teeth, Charlie stomped out, shut the door, and knocked again.
"Come in."
Charlie shoved the door open, marched in, and stared at Giorgio. He thought Giorgio would spill the beans, but nope.
"Apologize for your behavior," Giorgio said, cold as ice. He wasn't gonna let Charlie run wild.
"Sorry," Charlie muttered, clearly not meaning it.
Giorgio's eyes bored into him. "If that's your attitude, go cool off before talking to me."
His words were like a slap in the face. Tony shivered on the side. He wanted to remind Giorgio that Charlie was just a three-year-old kid.
But knowing Giorgio had been on edge lately, he kept his mouth shut and tried to calm Charlie down, "Little Mr. Vittorio, Mr. Vittorio was in the middle of something important. It was kinda rude to burst in. Just apologize sincerely."
Charlie was fuming. He'd already swallowed his pride by leaving and coming back to apologize.
"I won't!" Then, his big, beautiful eyes locked onto Giorgio.
Charlie snapped, "Don't think I don't know you're dodging the question, taking it out on me. If you don't tell me the truth, I'll find out myself. And Auntie Anna didn't do it. I won't let the real culprit get away!"
With that, he stormed out.
Tony Fairchild was left gobsmacked by Charlie's words and attitude. With that fiery temper, he was a mini-Giorgio!
He helplessly tried to plead for Charlie, "Mr. Vittorio, he's just a kid. Don't hold it against him."
"Get out." Giorgio's cold voice cut through. Tony jumped, then quickly left the office.
Once everyone was gone, Giorgio threw down the documents and rubbed his temples, frustrated.
Just then, the phone on the desk rang. It was Charlie's teacher. He picked it up.
"Is this Charlie's dad? Hi, I'm his teacher. He dropped out half an hour ago, said he wasn't coming back to kindergarten."
Dropped out? Giorgio raised an eyebrow. "Why?"
His voice was cold and commanding. The teacher felt the pressure and answered respectfully, "It's because Penny dropped out. After that, Charlie left with her. I thought that woman was his mom, so I didn't stop him."
Last time, Anna handled things at school, so the teacher assumed she was the mom. One kid took the mom's last name, the other the dad's.
Hearing this, Giorgio frowned. So Penny had dropped out. That explained it.
But in Giorgio's eyes, Anna was handling things without thinking about the kid, too eager to cut ties. He thought she was overreacting. He wouldn't care about a woman who mentally cheated and ditched him so easily. They were done, no strings attached.
The medical team took off at noon.
On the plane.
"Mommy, why are we leaving?" Penny's big, teary eyes were clearly bummed about leaving Charlie behind. She asked, "Did you fight with Mr. Vittorio? Mommy, make up with him, okay?"
Her little voice was soft and pleading. Anna looked like she'd been slapped, her face going pale. She didn't know what to say.
She had to change the subject. "Penny, Mommy's going home to take care of your great-grandma. She took care of Mommy when I was little, just like Mommy takes care of you. Now she's sick and needs company, so Mommy has to be with her."
Anna added, "When Mommy gets old, Penny won't leave Mommy, right?"
Penny looked at her great-grandma lying on the mobile bed, thought for a moment, and then said, "Penny will never leave you. Penny will always be by your side."
Then Penny asked, "Mommy, when great-grandma gets better, can we take her to live with Mr. Vittorio? His house is big enough for all of us."
Hearing that, Anna smiled bitterly, knowing it was impossible. But not wanting to make Penny sad, she gently agreed, "Okay."
"Mr. Vittorio posted on Instagram." Suddenly, someone exclaimed.
The high and mighty Giorgio never posted on Instagram, but today he did! So, once the post was up, it instantly blew up, attracting tons of curious netizens.
Anna felt a tightness in her chest. She couldn't stay completely calm about his news. But she didn't click on the post; it was no longer her business.
Sara couldn't help it. She opened Instagram to check the gossip. Then, her eyes froze.
"Mr. Vittorio didn't post anything special." The next second, she casually put away her phone, pretending nothing happened.
The more she acted like this, the more curious Anna became. 'What did Giorgio post that's so special?' she wondered.
No. Whatever he posted had nothing to do with her. Anna pushed all her thoughts aside and focused on taking care of Elodie.
Elodie's lips moved, like she wanted to say something. Since waking up, she seemed to have wanted to speak.
Anna held her hand and comforted, "Grandma, don't rush. Rest for a couple more days, and you'll be able to talk when you're better."
Penny also added, "Great-grandma, since you can't talk, Mommy and I will tell you stories."
With that, Penny started to tell her stories adorably.
Elodie looked at them, her eyes gradually moistening. In her life, except for one thing, everything else was ordinary. The happiest thing was adopting Anna and watching her grow up. Unfortunately, she wouldn't see it in the future.
A few hours later, the plane landed at Vista Heights.
Due to the number of people, they rented several cars. Anna, Penny, Sara, and Elodie shared one car, while the others in other cars.
The car slowly drove towards Vista Heights City Hospital.
Anna looked at the familiar city, feeling a bit sentimental. 'Why does the place where I grew up feel so strange?' she thought.
At that moment, the driver suddenly screamed!
The car swerved wildly. Anna turned her head and saw a huge truck barreling toward them!
Her pupils dilated!
There was no time to react; the car shook violently, and the world in front of Anna turned upside down.
Suddenly, screams and cries of fear filled the air. Anna felt everything was chaotic, dark, and her whole body was in pain.
The entire world seemed to stop.
