Chapter 468 Facing Crisis Once Again

She thought, 'And he's so handsome.

'No, no, no. Stop thinking about that!'

Anna shook the image from her mind and glanced down at her hands.

Those hands she couldn't bear to look at.

Then, the sudden jingle of her phone broke the silence.

Anna picked up the call. "Hello?"

"Anna, you've been wanting to see your grandmother, right? Come to Imperial Glory Hospital."It was Katherine's voice!

Anna shot up, excitement surging through her.

"Send me the details, I'll head over right away."

After ending the call, she forgot all about her previous embarrassment, her mind solely on her grandmother.

She quickly sent Lucia a message about the rain ruining today's shoot and then headed for the hospital Katherine had mentioned.

Imperial Glory Hospital, the most prestigious and private hospital in Crownhaven, was renowned not just for its elite staff from top global institutions but also for its wealthy and influential patients.

Ordinary people couldn't get in; many didn't even know it existed.

Anna was no exception.

Walking into the hospital, she was stunned by the futuristic decor and high-tech gadgets everywhere.

It turned out Wendy wasn't at Vista Heights Hospital as Katherine had led her to believe. Instead, she'd been in this secretive top-tier facility all along!

"You've arrived," Katherine said, standing outside the ward.

The high-tech corridor was bright, highlighting Katherine's regal presence.

Anna hurried over.

She saw her grandmother lying in the hospital bed behind a large glass window!

Silver hair, serene face—after four years, she still looked so gentle!

But the oxygen mask and the array of unfamiliar machines made her look much frailer.

"Grandma!" Anna's eyes welled up, and she turned to enter.

"Anna, first talk to the doctor about your grandmother's condition," Katherine said, turning with a haughty air toward the doctor's office.

The office was a world apart from the rest of the hospital—filled with high-tech medical equipment, and the doctor's desk was cluttered with various electronic gadgets.

Anna anxiously took a seat, her gaze fixed on the doctor.

"Doctor, what exactly is wrong with my grandmother? Why hasn't she woken up after four years?"

The doctor replied, "Your grandmother fell from a mountain years ago, sustaining severe organ damage, and was in critical condition. She should have died back then. It was this Mrs. Stefanelli—your sister, who looks just like you—who paid a fortune to save her life. She occasionally regains consciousness, but today is not one of those days. Now, I have good news and bad news. Which would you like to hear first?"

Anna's gut twisted with foreboding as she clenched her fists.

"I'll take the good news first," she said, needing a glimmer of hope to keep herself together.

The doctor nodded and activated the electronic display.

A slew of data and graphs appeared—most of it incomprehensible to Anna.

He continued, "We've developed a new treatment plan involving kidney and bone marrow transplants. The success rate is ninety-nine percent. If the surgery is performed, your grandmother could wake up and recover fully. We have already matched a suitable donor for both the kidney and bone marrow, and it's Miss Katherine."

Anna thought, 'What?

'Katherine can save my grandmother?'

Anna felt as though fate was playing a cruel joke on her. Katherine could never be the one to save Wendy.

"She and I are identical twins. My body is just as suitable, and my blood type is unique. I'm sure I'd be a match too!"

The doctor shrugged helplessly. "Mrs. Stefanelli, when we developed this treatment plan, we used advanced computer systems to identify suitable donors. You do match, but you're down to one kidney, and we can't use your organs."

Anna's hope crumbled.

She couldn't save Wendy.

"What's the bad news?" she asked, her voice trembling.

The doctor's face grew serious. "Your grandmother's body is deteriorating. Her cells are dying off, and if we don't perform the surgery, she has at most seven days left."

Seven days.

It felt as though lightning had struck her.

She had just learned Wendy had a chance to live, only to be hit with such devastating news.

Her heart raced painfully in her chest.

"Anna, I might still be able to help your grandmother," Katherine's unexpected voice came from behind as she emerged from the ward.

Anna turned in shock.

She hadn't expected anything from Katherine, let alone this.

She hurried to Katherine, her eyes pleading. "Really? You're willing to save my grandmother? I'll do anything you ask, just please help her!"

Katherine smiled. "Is that so? Including leaving Giorgio?"

The casual question hit like a ton of bricks.

Anna froze.

She thought, 'I should have known. Katherine's one true desire is Giorgio.

'If that's the case...'

"Should I suspect you and the doctor are in cahoots to deceive me? You can't really save my grandmother, can you?"

Katherine's expression turned cold, and then she sneered. "Anna, I wouldn't joke about something like this. Imperial Glory Hospital isn't something you can take lightly. Do you know who's in the next room? The former First Lady. If I hadn't pulled strings and convinced her to help, your grandmother wouldn't even be in this hospital. And now you have the gall to insult me?"

She turned on her heel, her demeanor icy. "Fine. If you don't value my help, believe what you want. In seven days, I'll send a white chrysanthemum for your grandmother."

With that, she walked away, her high-handed manner clear.

Anna's face went pale.

She had misjudged Katherine. While Katherine might not have been lying, she was definitely using Wendy's situation as leverage.

Katherine was indeed capable of saving Wendy.

Anna raced after Katherine, her voice urgent and pleading. "Katherine, wait!"

She stood directly in front of her, her eyes filled with desperation. "Please, can we talk about something else besides that? I can't do it."

She had just mustered the courage to take a step forward with Giorgio, and she didn't want to fail now.

"You know," Anna said, her voice icy, "even if you left him, Mr. Vittorio might not care for you. There's no point in holding onto someone who doesn't love you. Honestly, if you let him go, you might find something better."

Anna tried to reason with her.

But Katherine just sneered. "Don't be disingenuous with me. All this talk is just about keeping Giorgio. Anna, listen carefully: my only condition is that you completely cut ties with Giorgio. If you can't do that, don't even think about me helping your grandmother."

She paused, then added with a hint of sarcasm, "Oh, and if you think there's another way to save your grandmother, maybe Simon and Giorgio can come up with something. After all, you have a knack for attracting top-notch men. I'll be waiting to see what you come up with."

With that, Katherine turned on her heel and walked away with a haughty air.

Anna stood frozen, grappling with the situation.

She thought, 'Right! Simon!

'Simon's parents are highly respected in the medical field; they must have a solution!'

She hurried out of the hospital and immediately called Simon.

"Mr. Dalio, are you still in Crownhaven?"

Her voice was filled with urgency, a sharp contrast to their previous interactions.

Simon glanced at the other stakeholders in the meeting room. Although he was currently in Vista Heights, he replied, "I'm not in Crownhaven at the moment, but send me your location in two hours, and I'll come find you."
