Chapter 252 What is He Trying to Do?
"Miss, please order the dishes we just discussed, and also send a portion to the guests at table 12. Tell them it's on us."
Katherine gently ordered a few dishes, handed the menu to the waiter, and then smiled at Giorgio, "Anna helped me a lot recently; I want to thank her. I'll treat her to a meal today and invite her out another day."
Giorgio remained silent, his noble and handsome face was adorned with a very cold expression.
At the other end, Sara continued to lament about how regrettable it was for Anna and Simon, a perfect couple, to suddenly not be together anymore; the more she spoke, the more she implied that a mistress had ruined everything.
The more Mirlinda heard, the angrier she became. She could tolerate it once, but not three or four times.
Unable to suppress her temper, Mirlinda retorted sharply, "Don't sugarcoat it here. Some people play the girlfriend role while pretending to be a couple with their boyfriend's friend. Who knows if they've shared a bed? What right do they have to accuse others?" Her sudden, sharp voice pierced the air, silencing the room.
Sara stopped speaking and looked incredulously at Anna, whispering, "Why does she know about this?" It was as if she had told her enemy her weaknesses, giving Mirlinda the upper hand.
Anna didn't know how Mirlinda found out either and was equally surprised and embarrassed. At the same time, she remembered the night she was scared by a 'ghost,' and the image of her in her pajamas, sleeping with Giorgio, made her blush and feel exhausted.
She didn't know how to explain it. Although they hadn't had sex, they had touched... If you look at it from a certain angle, it was indeed unfair to Simon.
"Enough." Simon, who had been quiet the whole time, finally spoke, coldly gazing at Mirlinda, "Didn't we agree not to bring that up?"
So, was he siding with these strangers to bully her now? Mirlinda felt a lump in her throat; this was worse than hearing Sara's taunts.
She forced a smile, "Fine, I shouldn't have spoken. You continue dining with them." With that, she stood up and left.
Simon frowned and looked at Anna, "I'm sorry; she's just like that."
At this point, the one who was actually feeling guilty was Anna. She apologized awkwardly, "It's okay, you should go after her. She's pregnant and upset. It could be dangerous."
Simon didn't like Mirlinda, but he felt responsible for the child and for that night.
Since they were already married, he had no plans to abandon Mirlinda. He nodded, stood up, and strode away.
"Anna, are you stupid? Who cares if something happens to that woman; she deserves it! Why are you speaking for her?" Sara felt indignant. Only a friend as naïve as Anna would let a good man like Simon slip away.
Anna looked at her with a complex expression, "Sara, I know you're trying to help me, but... I don't know how to put it. Right now, all I want is to wish them happiness."
After all, things had come this far, and Mirlinda was pregnant, which was a good thing.
Sara suddenly fell silent and felt helpless. Where else could you find a woman who had been cheated on, yet still wished the other party well?
This confirmed one thing: she didn't love Simon! Only those who weren’t in love would not care about something like this and wish the other woman well. She understood now, her heart was not with Simon, it was... Sara saw through it but said nothing.
"Excuse me, I'm sorry to interrupt, but I'm here to serve your dishes," the waitress’ voice rang out. Soon after, the servers began to lay out a series of delicious dishes.
But hadn't they already finished their meal?
"Miss, I believe these dishes are not ours," Anna politely interrupted.
The waitress smiled and said, "They are from the lady at table number 8."
Table number 8?
Anna instinctively followed the table number and saw Giorgio, handsome and noble, sitting at the table along with the beautiful and elegant Katherine.
As if she had been waiting, Katherine raised her hand to wave at her as a courteous smile played at the corners of her mouth.
Giorgio, on the other hand, was cold and distant, not even glancing in their direction.
From his angle, he could see them, but he deliberately chose not to look. After all, she had only pretended to be his wife and had not fulfilled the physical transaction he wanted, so of course he was not fond of her. Moreover, the real Mrs. Vittorio was Katherine, who was now by his side.
Anna managed to force a stiff smile, took her gaze away from them, and said to the waitress, "Miss, could you please pack up the dishes for us?"
"Of course," the waitress responded, then politely instructed someone to bring the takeaway boxes.
Sara was not pleased and whispered, "Anna, that's Giorgio! We could go and join them. Besides, Katherine should be the one feeling guilty, not you."
Anna shook her head. His indifference towards her made her not want to have any contact with him.
She then pointed to the mask on her face, "It's not a good idea. I have something to do today anyway, so let's go back to the office."
It took a lot of coaxing and dragging to finally pull Sara, who was “infatuated” with Giorgio, away.
At table number 8, Giorgio caught a glimpse of her departing figure, and his already cold face became even colder. He had thought that Anna had some feelings for him; he figured, at the very least, that she would not leave without greeting him.
The way she left just now seemed like she was avoiding him. Did she really not want to see him that much?
"Giorgio," Katherine noticed Giorgio's icy demeanor as he gazed at Anna.
She was resentful of his feelings towards Anna; she was even resentful of him watching Anna's figure.
In all these years, had he ever looked at her like that?
She suppressed her anger and spoke softly, "Shall we go see Grandma this afternoon? She called saying she hasn't been sleeping well."
Giorgio averted his gaze and responded coldly, "I have work in the afternoon; we'll go in the evening."
"Alright. My hand is injured, so it's not very..."
Before she could finish her sentence, the tall, handsome man stood up and said, "I'm going out for a bit." Then, without waiting for her reaction, he strode out, his long legs taking him quickly away.
Anna had just left, and now he was leaving too. It was clear he was going after Anna!
Katherine clenched her fist, and a wave of pain washed over her from the force.
She let out a gasp after looking down at the fresh blood seeping through the bandage. She was even more furious now!
Damn Anna, when would she finally disappear from her sight?!
Outside, Anna was standing by the roadside waiting for a cab while holding Penny and the packed dishes from the restaurant.
She thought that staying in Crownhaven would mean rarely encountering Giorgio and Katherine, but she had run into them today! What a disaster!
She needed to get home quickly and check the calendar before going out in the future!
"Ah, Mr. Vittorio!" Sara suddenly exclaimed in surprise, her voice filled with delight.
Anna turned her gaze and saw the man she had just been complaining about standing behind her.
Dressed in a suit and looking elegant and noble, he seemed like a deity that had descended from heaven; his aura and nobility were almost unfathomable.
What... what was he doing here?
