Chapter 39 He is Getting Jealous
Today, he was dressed as usual in a black fitted suit, a crisp white shirt, a meticulously tied tie, and even his expensive wristwatch was black. His whole being exuded the aura of a mature man, enough to make any woman suffocate and succumb.
How... did he end up here!
At the same time, Giorgio's eyes, dark and profound like ink, scanned Anna. Her hair was casually scattered, and she wore a pale, close-fitting home outfit. Her face was devoid of makeup, giving her a pure and lovely appearance.
However, he quickly noticed Simon sitting at the dining table, as well as the steaming delicious food on the table. His sharp eyebrows furrowed:
"Why is he here at your place?"
The rising tone carried a hint of undisguised jealousy, anger, and unspoken pressure.
Anna frowned and explained, "Mr. Dalio found out about my identity and came here to look for me. I thought about how he saved me before, so I decided to cook a meal to thank him."
Hearing this, Giorgio felt a tiny bit better.
But the thought of her agreeing to have a man come to her place, with just the two of them, still made him very angry!
Anna felt that his aura was strange, as if he wanted to devour someone. She quickly changed the topic, "Do you have something you want to talk to me about?"
As soon as the words fell, a small hand grabbed her large hand, and a crisp child's voice sounded, "Anna, you haven't come for seven days. I missed you so much, and if I can't see you again, I'll cry. It was me who asked Daddy to bring me to see you."
Anna looked down and realized that little Charlie had also come. Her heart filled with joy as she bent down to pick him up:
"Charlie, Auntie missed you so much. Auntie planned to come see you right after eating."
Charlie liked Anna's presence and rubbed against her, saying, "I believe you."
He caught the scent of the food and looked towards the dining table, where he saw the delicious dishes. His eyes lit up, "Auntie, I'm hungry too. I want to have a meal at your place."
Anna stood up.
"Yes." She asks Giorgio, “do you want to eat?"
He got straight to the point, "Why are you here to see Anna?"
Upon hearing this question, Simon's gentle gaze became blurry in the lamplight.
When he first learned of Anna's true identity, he was surprised and grateful. In the days that followed, the image of her jumping to save Charlie and collapsing in his arms kept appearing in his mind. Both his rationality and his heart were telling him that she was a special girl to him.
In the end, fate intervened, but as for the reasons and purpose...
"If I tell you I'm not sure at the moment, would you believe me?"
Giorgio narrowed his eyes and said, "I believe you." However, often the more uncertain something is, the more dangerous it becomes...
The three adults heard the pitter-patter of little feet approaching. Looking up, they saw Charlie, now standing in the doorway with a mischievous grin on his face.
"Hi there, Simon!" Charlie greeted, his voice filled with excitement. "What are you reading?” He pointed at the book Simon as holding.
Simon closed the book and set it aside, welcoming the interruption with a smile. "Hey, Charlie! I'm reading a really cool adventure story. It's about pirates and buried treasure!"
Charlie's eyes widened with intrigue. "Whoa! Pirates? Can I hear a little bit?"
Anna was surprised to see this – Simon was really nice to kids it seemed. The other mafia man she knew, not so much.
Simon chuckled and cleared his throat dramatically. "Once upon a time, there was a fearless pirate named Captain Jack. He sailed the seven seas in search of hidden treasure, battling giant sea monsters and outwitting his rivals..."
Charlie listened intently, his imagination running wild as he envisioned the epic tale Simon was narrating. He giggled at the pirate antics and gasped at the daring escapes.
"But wait!" Charlie interrupted excitedly. "What's the name of Captain Jack's ship?"
Simon smiled, playing along. "Ah, Captain Jack sailed on a mighty ship called The Flying Dolphin. It was the fastest and most magnificent ship to ever sail the seas!"
Charlie's eyes sparkled with delight. "Wow, The Flying Dolphin! Can I be a pirate too, Simon?"
Simon raised an eyebrow playfully. "Well, Charlie, being a pirate is no easy task. You have to have a sharp eye, a quick mind, and a really cool pirate name. Do you think you have what it takes?"
Charlie nodded enthusiastically, his face filled with determination. "Definitely! My pirate name can be Captain Charlie!"
Simon couldn't help but chuckle at Charlie's enthusiasm. "Captain Charlie it is! But remember, Captain Charlie, a true pirate also needs a trusty sidekick. Do you have a pirate parrot that talks and squawks?"
Charlie's eyes widened with excitement. "I don't have a parrot, but I have a stuffed monkey named Mr. Squiggles! He can be my sidekick!"
“I’ll get him a parrot.” Giorgio muttered under his breath. Anna chuckled to herself. Was he jealous of Simon bonding with the child?
Simon grinned. "Perfect! Captain Charlie and Mr. Squiggles, setting sail on The Flying Dolphin. I have a feeling you two will make quite the pirate duo!"
As their imaginations soared, Simon and Charlie embarked on their own swashbuckling adventure. They invented secret treasure maps, practiced their best pirate accents, and even had an impromptu pirate dance party, complete with a makeshift ship made of pillows.
"Ring ring ring!"
Simon was planning to stay a little longer, but the phone rang and he had to leave. "I have something to take care of. I have to leave."
Charlie sighed but turned to Simon, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "We'll have more pirate adventures next time, right, Simon?"
Simon nodded, a twinkle in his eye. "Absolutely, Captain Charlie. The seas are endless, and the treasure awaits!"
As Charlie waved goodbye and Simon headed out the door, Simon couldn't help but feel a renewed sense of wonder. Through their imaginative play, he had experienced a different kind of adventure, one that reminded him of the joy that could be found in embracing a childlike spirit.
He eagerly looked forward to their next encounter, where he knew Captain Charlie and Mr. Squiggles would lead them on another unforgettable journey, filled with laughter, creativity, and the boundless possibilities of a child's imagination.
Simon had always wanted children. Alas, life had been cruel to him. But looking at Anna, he felt a renewed hope. For everything.
Anna, who was in the kitchen, heard the sound and ran out with enthusiasm. "Are you leaving so soon? I was just about to cut some fruits."
"It's okay. There will be plenty of time in the future."
"That's true. Take your time on the way and give me a call if you need anything. I'll be there for you." Anna had a sweet smile on her face and made a very polite promise.
Simon felt helpless. He saved her once, but does she want to repay him endlessly?
Well, that's fine.
He nodded lightly and turned to leave.
Anna watched as Simon entered the elevator and sighed. In the world, there aren't many people like Simon who are wealthy, handsome, and have a good position, yet still friendly and easy to get along with.
She turned around and met an extremely sharp and profound gaze.
See, this person is not easy to get along with!
Giorgio saw her face visibly droop, and his expression grew colder. "You have a good relationship with him?"
Anna answered truthfully, "Not bad. I've met him three times, and he saved me. I guess we can be considered friends."
"Hmpf." Giorgio snorted sarcastically. "Meeting three times and already allowing him into your house, showing great enthusiasm. It seems like you have very casual requirements when it comes to men."
Casual? How could he say that as if she's casual?
Anna was displeased. He was targeting her as soon as he entered tonight. What did she do to provoke him? She couldn't be bothered to deal with him and said, "It's none of your business!"
She turned around and walked towards the kitchen.
Giorgio's expression darkened. He stood up, walked past her, and grabbed her wrist, pulling her forward and pressing her against the display cabinet behind her.
"Are you sure it's none of my business? Hm?"
