Chapter 469 Pamper You Greatly
Anna had no idea that he had taken a helicopter and traveled a great distance just for her.
All she knew was that when she saw him, he was as gentle and elegant as ever, with his usual refined demeanor, just like the first time they met.
"Mr. Simon, I ordered some juice for you," Anna said, knowing he had a sensitive stomach, as she stood up to greet him.
Simon looked at her, his lips curling softly. "Thank you. What happened? Don't worry. Take your time to explain, and I'll do my best to help you."
He was still so gentle and steady, giving her a strong sense of security.
Anna felt warmth in her heart and told him everything.
Then she said, "I'm sorry. I really didn't mean to bother you, but this matter is urgent, and I have no other options."
He comforted, "Anna, there's no need to be so formal with me."
Simon's heart ached as he reached out, his hand hovering momentarily before gently placing a tissue in Anna's grasp. His voice was soft and comforting. "The Imperial Glory Hospital isn't part of the traditional medical field. They're more about cutting-edge research and technology, so it's unlikely they'd fabricate anything. Their diagnosis is probably accurate."
He continued, "Moreover, their system is the most advanced in the country. They have data on the health of everyone in the country and can match patients with the best possible treatment in real-time. That's why so many highly respected individuals have been successfully treated there."
"Is Katherine really the only match?" Anna asked, her voice trembling with helplessness.
Simon sighed. "Unfortunately, yes. Even if there were other treatments, seven days isn't enough time, and any alternative treatment might be too hard on your grandmother's body. That would mean she wouldn't be able to undergo any further surgeries in the future. I'm really sorry, Anna. You asked me for help, and I wish I could do more."
Simon felt a deep sense of guilt. Life and death were not things that could be controlled by wealth or power.
Anna's heart sank as she looked up at him, her face a picture of desolation.
"Simon, it's not your fault. I'm just grateful you came to see me and tried to help."
At that moment, Anna seemed incredibly fragile, like a delicate glass ornament that could shatter with the slightest touch.
Unable to resist, Simon placed a comforting hand on her head. "Don't be too down. Since there's no other option, let's see if we can find a way to work with Katherine. I'll do my best to help."
With that, Simon took his leave.
Anna was left with little hope. Katherine was far from ideal, but her one redeeming quality was her deep, unwavering devotion to Giorgio. It was hard to imagine any strategy that could sway her.
Back in the garden, Anna sat beneath a tree, lost in thought. The gentle drizzle soaked her clothes and created a haze around her head, but she was oblivious to it.
The dilemma weighed heavily on her mind: save her grandmother or Giorgio? It felt like choosing between a mother and a lover who had fallen into a river—a choice that was both painful and regretful.
As she sat there, absorbed in her sorrow, Giorgio's voice cut through the darkness.
"Anna?" He called gently.
Anna snapped back to reality, only then noticing that night had fallen and Giorgio stood there in his formal suit.
She quickly pushed her thoughts aside. "What about Charlie and Penny?"
Giorgio pulled her inside, brushing off her worries. "They wanted to go watch a movie, so I had Tony take them. What are you doing out here, lost in your thoughts? You should change and avoid catching a cold. After that, I want to take you to meet someone."
Anna felt emotionally drained. She hesitated, debating whether to share her troubles with Giorgio Vittorio, but Simon had made the situation painfully clear—there might be nothing he could do. Opening up could only complicate things further.
Taking a deep breath, she apologized, "I'm really sorry, but I'm not feeling great today. I can't go out."
Her mood was a stark contrast to her usual cheerful self.
Giorgio studied her delicate features and raised a hand to feel her forehead. No fever. "What's wrong? Are you still upset about this morning?"
The memory of that morning flooded Anna's mind, and her cheeks flushed. She quickly shook her head. "No, I'm just a bit tired. I'd like some time alone. You should go enjoy the movie with the kids and build that bond."
Her disappointment wasn't aimed at him; he sensed that.
Giorgio wrapped an arm around her playfully. "You want me to be Penny's stepdad already? That's moving pretty fast!"
Anna thought, 'Stepdad? He is really her biological father.'
Anna felt her cheeks heat up. "No, that's not what I meant!"
"Just kidding," he smiled, turning her to face him, his gaze intense. "Seriously, what's going on? Talk to me, okay?"
His voice was gentle, filled with care, making Anna's heart flutter.
He was so good to her; the last thing she wanted was to dump such harsh news on him. She shook her head quickly. "Really, I'm fine! Let's just go out. I'm craving pizza."
Giorgio picked up on her reluctance to share, so he didn't press the issue. He placed a soft kiss on her forehead. "Alright then, pizza it is."
That evening, Giorgio took Anna to the pizza place. The same one where she had eaten with Giuseppe last time, and they were seated at the same cozy booth. This meticulousness of his, she truly wondered what he would do if she agreed to Katherine's request.
"The girl looks quite agreeable." At this moment, a strange voice interrupted her thoughts.
Anna raised her eyes and saw an elderly man in black casual wear entering the room. He was about the same age as her grandmother, but exuded an aura of integrity and vigor befitting a man in his prime.
"Mr. Vittorio, who is this?"
"This is Uncle Joe, someone I heard about from prison," Giorgio said, pouring a cup of tea and placing it gracefully before Uncle Joe.
He then poured a glass of juice for Anna.
It turned out this was an elder. Anna quickly brightened her smile and addressed him respectfully: "Hello, Uncle Joe."
"Hahaha!" This greeting elicited a hearty laugh from Uncle Joe.
Giorgio's eyes softened with affection, and a tender smile graced his face.
Only then did Anna realize she had inadvertently called Uncle Joe alongside Giorgio, a habit that might imply they were already married!
She felt incredibly embarrassed: "I spoke carelessly. Please don't take it seriously."
"It's alright. It's quite nice to be called Uncle Joe together," Joe chuckled.
Then, his gaze shifted to Anna, warm and affectionate as he continued:
"You're quite the looker, with clean eyes; a good girl indeed. No wonder Giorgio mentioned to me in prison how much he cared for you."
"Uncle Joe," Giorgio interrupted him: "It's time to eat."
"Giorgio, I'm actually complimenting you. When it comes to your feelings for a girl, you need to express them clearly. Anna, I'll tell you, Giorgio was very deep when he came to visit me and mentioned you. After he left, I heard from the guards in prison that you were there. I had intended to meet you to see what kind of girl had captured Giorgio's heart, but you were taken away. Still, it's for the best. Now I see you, and I'm not disappointed."
These words suggested that Giorgio had spoken of her in a very particular manner.
And those particular words, without thinking about them, would suggest a certain significance.
Anna was taken aback.
While she was in despair, misunderstanding Giorgio, he had actually been caring for her.
When she looked at his handsome face, her heart raced, and her cheeks flushed as she quickly averted her gaze:
"Thank you, Mr. Vittorio."
Joe was quite enthusiastic and spent the evening pulling Anna into conversations about Giorgio, ending with a deep remark:
"Anna, Giorgio is a man of a stern face but a warm heart. When he's not concerned, he's completely indifferent. But when he does take an interest, he commits fully. He will pamper you greatly. You must treat him well and not let him down."
