Chapter 211 Agreeing to Be Together

Giorgio was all too familiar with the ordeal of menstrual pain in women.
He had been by Katherine's side on several occasions when she suffered from it.
However...
"Isn't it said that this condition only occurs after having children?"
Anna frowned, her eyebrows furrowed deeply.
Generally speaking, every girl's physique is different; some stop experiencing pain after marriage, others have more pain after childbirth. She belonged to the latter category, indeed suffering more after having given birth.
Did Katherine tell him this?
She was in too much pain to speak.
Giorgio noticed that she seemed to be in worse condition than Katherine?
He walked over, took off a heating pad from Charlie, and handed it to her:
" Place this heating pad on your lower abdomen, it's more important for you than for Charlie right now."
Then he turned on the electric kettle and poured out hot water.
Anna wanted to refuse, but she was well aware of her physical condition and didn't want to be a burden at this time. She accepted the heating pad, and with a weak voice, she said:
"Drinking hot water won't help me, leave it for Charlie."
Giorgio looked at Anna's pained face, then turned away. His figure was tall and noble under the hazy moonlight, exuding a solitary and chilling aura.
If he were alone in danger, he would not panic at all, but at this moment, with both the young and the adult in distress, even he, who was usually calm in the face of danger, felt inexplicably agitated.
In Anna's weakened gaze, which reflected the cold silhouette of the man, she realized that he was restless.
She remembered how when Katherine had felt unwell before, he had carried her away anxiously, without even glancing at her. Now, things weren't much better.
He had been quite good to Katherine.
The chill of the night grew heavier.
Anna was being eroded by waves of pain. Even as her long nails left purple marks in her palms, they couldn't mask the agony in her lower belly.
Biting her lip, she endured the pain, feeling as though she might die from it.
No, she felt as if she were dying right now!
Could she last through the night?
As the pain overwhelmed her like a tidal wave, resembling the approach of the Grim Reaper, she reached out to pull Charlie into her embrace, clutching him tightly.
Should an accident happen and she died from the pain, being with her son would be her only solace.
But the temperature of Charlie in her arms was noticeably very high, indicating that his condition was worsening. No matter how resilient he was, ultimately, he was just a three-year-old child who could not withstand the icy cold snowfield.
She felt regret. If only she hadn't spoken to Simon that day, which upset Charlie and led them to come to the snowy mountain.
She hated herself for getting her period at this time, unable to be of any help.
If anything happened to Charlie, she would feel guilty for the rest of her life.
'Your blood is special; it can heal any blood type.' In her panic, Rizzo's words unexpectedly echoed in her mind.
That's right, if her blood type was so special that it could even heal a vegetative person, maybe it could have some effect on a fever or common cold?
Even if it didn't, consuming her blood wouldn't have any adverse effects.
With these thoughts in mind and a sense of desperation, Anna tried a tentative measure—she cut her finger and put it to Charlie's lips.
Giorgio heard the rustling noise, turned his head, and saw Anna feeding her blood to Charlie, his expression darkening.
It was just one night; was it necessary to resort to drinking human blood? Besides, she was unwell herself and yet taking care of someone else?
His voice was tinged with a cold accusation: "What are you doing?"
Anna quickly withdrew her hand, enduring the pain in her abdomen to explain:
"Rizzo said before that my blood is special, rare in the country. I thought, since we don't have any medicine here, I might as well try..."
Try? Try feeding blood to a child?
Giorgio had never seen such a foolish woman.
Also, he caught on to something and his brows knitted together:
"You have a rare blood type too?"
The rising tone at the end of his sentence indicated his question.
Instinctively, Anna nodded.
Giorgio's gaze darkened.
Charlie's blood type was especially unusual, and hers was rare too. Was it a distant genetic inheritance, or just too coincidental?
He always had a strange feeling that was elusive and impenetrable.
Due to the extreme cold, Giorgio still went over to huddle with the two of them for warmth.
Originally, he thought of a way that might allow them to leave, but at this moment, with the younger one ill and the older one suffering from menstrual cramps, going out into the bitter cold made descending the mountain difficult. They might even encounter other dangers. It seemed better to stay put, at least to preserve their strength.
The night was too long, so long that every minute and second seemed to be counted as they passed, as if a century stretched on.
After what felt like an eternity, the sky finally began to brighten.
Charlie opened his eyes and saw the two who held him tightly in their embrace. Despite the bone-chilling weather, he felt a warmth in his heart.
"Awake?" A low voice sounded.
Charlie quickly pretended to be weak, forcing out a small voice: "Uh, it hurts, Daddy, Anna, am I going to die?"
His helpless and sad words startled Anna awake from her pain-ridden sleep.
She opened her eyes and saw Charlie, whose eyes were dull and face pale as ice, which scared her so much that she forgot her own pain and said anxiously:
"Charlie, Charlie, where does it hurt? Your forehead isn't hot anymore! What do we do? You must have gotten chilled. Just hang in there; dawn has broken, and someone should find us soon."
Charlie looked at her, his dry lips moving slightly:
"Anna, don't panic. Being with you, I'm very happy. Yesterday was the happiest day of my life. Even if I die like this, it would have been worth it."
"What are you talking about, Charlie? How could you die? Don't curse yourself."
"Uh-uh, Anna, can you promise me one thing?" Charlie's tone suddenly became pleading, hopeful.
The feeble voice seemed like it was stating a last wish.
Anna was frightened by the thought, holding her son's hand tightly:
"As long as we get out safely, Anna will promise you a hundred things. But if you dare say we won't make it, Anna won't promise anything."
Charlie's eyes moved: "Really? As long as I make it out alive, you'll agree to anything?"
Yes! Yes!
Anna nodded like eagerly .
The next second, Charlie said, "Including dating Daddy, being together?"
In an instant, Anna's heart clenched, at a loss for words.
At a time like this, how could he still think about matchmaking her and Giorgio!
Seeing her not agreeing, Charlie sniffled, his voice pitiful:
"Mommy never dotes on me, and Daddy is too busy with work to spend time with me. Anna, you're the first person to cook for me, to play with me, to give me presents. I like you very much, and I like Penny too.
My only wish is for the four of us to live together and form a happy family.
Anna, please give Daddy a chance to bond with us! If after living together for a month you still don't like it, I promise I won't insist anymore, okay?
cough cough... I forgot, I may not be able to go out, I might not last a month."
The child's voice went from sincere to longing, then to pleading, desperation, and resignation.
Everyone was so heart-wrenching.
Anna knew all too well that what the child needed most was maternal love, something Katherine was destined not to give, which made Charlie resort to such begging.
Her tears streamed down her face, as she held the child's small hand tightly:
"Charlie, you will get out safely, and after a month, Anna promises to live with you and Penny for a month.
Think about Penny, think about how cute she looks when she calls you 'Charlie,' you can't bear to leave her, right?"
He agreed!
Charlie's eyes lit up, he threw himself into Anna's arms, hugging her: "Anna, thank you for fulfilling my last wish."
Then, in a corner where Anna couldn't see, he flashed a happy smile at Giorgio, as if to say:
Daddy, look how smart I am, Anna agreed to stay with us!
Giorgio: "..."
Did he say anything about wanting to be with Anna? Did he need to pretend to be sick to gain sympathy?
You little rascal, you're meddling too much.
