Chapter 364 Anna's Turmoil

Their gazes locked.

His eyes resembled black holes in the ocean, poised to draw her in.

Anna, feeling nervous, quickly looked away and said to Penny, "Penny, come back quickly, we need to go to school."

Penny shook her head and held Charlie's hand. "I want to go with Charlie. Mommy, aren't you going to the hospital for a check-up? You and Uncle Giuseppe can go, I'll ride with Charlie."

Charlie seemed in a bad mood, as if he didn't want to see Katherine, and said, "Or Penny and I can ride in your car."

Anna felt helpless. Those two kids, they really were siblings.

Giuseppe, standing next to her, said directly, "In that case, Giorgio and Katherine can give you two a ride, and I'll take Anna to the hospital. Anna, do you have any objections?"

Would her objections matter? Anna couldn't pull Penny away, and she just wanted to leave to avoid further entanglement.

"All right, thank you," Anna replied softly, her voice tinged with resignation.

Then, under Giuseppe's care, they got into the car. From start to finish, she didn't look at Giorgio even once, her attitude was as cold as it could be.

Even though Giorgio already knew her current attitude, seeing it still made him very irritated!

He got into the driver's seat, expressionless, and started the car.

Katherine took care of the two kids in the back seat. "Charlie, Penny, it's hot today. If you have outdoor activities, you can take off your jackets to avoid sweating and catching a cold."

Charlie ignored her and looked at Penny. "What did you have for breakfast?"

Penny also ignored her and replied to Charlie, "I had bow-tie pasta and little meatballs, it was delicious. What about you, what did your mom make? Was it good?"

"I don't know, I had milk and bread upstairs," Charlie answered.

"That's a shame, I should have invited you to my house," Penny said with a hint of regret.

They kept chatting, completely ignoring Katherine.

Feeling like she was being treated as invisible, Katherine's palms clenched slightly, her smile very forced.

She looked at Giorgio in the front, seeking some presence and comfort. "Giorgio, any special work today? Busy?"

"Busy," Giorgio replied curtly, his tone implying that further conversation would only be warranted for matters of significance.

Katherine's mouth twitched, a wave of frustration washing over her.

Feeling neglected by both her children and Giorgio, she couldn't help but wonder what was wrong with her.

Anger, unwillingness, grievance—countless emotions surged within her. Seeking solace, she reached for her phone to text Giuseppe, longing for a sense of love and attention.

However, as she opened the message page, she discovered Giuseppe's attention was now directed towards Anna.

Fury consumed her.

Determined to make Anna suffer, Katherine plotted her revenge.

At the hospital, Anna hesitated to seek out Tom for a check-up, but she was promptly advised, "Without your medical records and files, it's best to consult your previous doctor."

"Exactly, why didn't you schedule an appointment? Doctor, could you please take a look at me?" other patients chimed in, crowding the area.

Feeling pressured, Anna reluctantly exited the consultation room.

"Don't worry, I'll make a call." Giuseppe took out his phone and unlocked it.

With his status and ability, he would definitely alert the hospital director.

Anna quickly said, "No need, my wound was treated by Doctor Tom. It's more convenient to find him."

She pulled him to Tom's office. "Doctor Tom, I'm here for a follow-up and dressing change."

Tom's gaze fell on Anna's hand holding Giuseppe's wrist, a hint of a dark emotion flashed by. "Alright, come in. Giuseppe, please wait outside."

Last time Giorgio could go in, why make Giuseppe wait outside this time? Anna was puzzled. But due to time constraints, she still went in.

What surprised her was as soon as they were behind the curtain, Tom asked, "You and Giuseppe get along so well, what do you like about him?"

After asking, he didn't forget to comment, "He's not a good person, you'd better stay away from him."

Anna was extremely puzzled. Why was he asking this? And who wasn't a good person?

"Giuseppe is much better than Giorgio," Anna instinctively replied.

Tom unwrapped the bandage on her hand, raising an eyebrow at her. "I only said Giuseppe wasn't good, didn't mention Giorgio. Why compare him to Giorgio?"

Anna was stunned. It had been an instinctive remark.

"Seems like you haven't gotten over your feelings," Tom teased.

Anna blushed with anger. "Who said that? I'm not a devout Catholic. And, are you going to help me with the dressing or not? If not, please get me another doctor."

"Haha, I'm doing the dressing, aren't I?" Tom put down the bandage, took some medical alcohol to clean her wound, and said softly, "The more you care, the more it shows your mind isn't pure. You'd better stay calm, or Giuseppe will be unhappy if he finds out."

Anna was left speechless, unwilling to engage in further conversation with him.

Emerging from the office, she wore a visibly frustrated and upset expression.

"What's wrong? Are you in pain?" Giuseppe came forward with concern.

Anna quickly shook her head. "No, it's fine. Doctor Tom said I need to rest for a while longer to recover. I'll sew clothes for you during that time."

"No clothes are more important than your hand injury. Don't think about those things, just focus on healing," Giuseppe said, leading her downstairs.

Anna nodded absentmindedly. Why did she think of Giorgio first when Tom mentioned Giuseppe?

It must have been because he had left such a bad impression on her! Yes, that must have been it!

Lost in thought, Anna didn't notice a flowerpot being pushed off a railing above her!

The flowerpot fell heavily, fast and hard.

Giuseppe heard the sound, instinctively looked up, and saw a large flowerpot falling!

"Anna, watch out!" He instinctively raised his hand and pushed Anna away!

The next second, the flowerpot hit his head, the ceramic pot shattered, and soil scattered all over.

He felt dizzy and instantly passed out.

Anna had no idea what happened. When she turned around, she saw the horrifying scene and panicked. "Giuseppe!"

She rushed over, squatted down, and before she could say anything else, she saw a pool of blood on the ground!

"Is there a doctor? Please call a doctor!" Her voice was urgent and worried. Doctors in the garden helping patients recover heard and rushed over. "Hello, what happened?"

"A flowerpot just fell, Giuseppe is injured, please help him," Anna urgently pleaded.

"Okay, don't worry," the doctor reassured before swiftly pulling out his phone to organize an emergency operation. "Bring a mobile bed downstairs, prepare the emergency room!"

Within about three minutes, Giuseppe was finally transported to the emergency room.

Outside, Anna stood in a state of panic and confusion.

The events that had unfolded felt surreal, like a dream. She hadn't anticipated such a grave accident, nor had she expected Giuseppe to shield her first and push her away.

His actions left her deeply moved.

Suddenly, the surgery door closed. Anna looked at the doctor who came out, anxiously asking, "Doctor? How is he?"

"The situation is very bad," replied the doctor.

What? Very bad?
