Chapter 439 Ignoring Mr. Vittorio

Seeing Sara's name on the caller ID, Anna knew something was up. Given Sara's recent recovery, her emotions were probably all over the place.

Anna quickly answered, "Sara? What's going on?"

"Hey, Anna, your voice is so sweet, like honey," Sara teased, clearly fishing for gossip. "Did you hook up with Mr. Vittorio last night?"

Anna's face went pale. "No, you're talking nonsense."

"Your tone says otherwise," Sara said confidently. "Come keep me company. I'm bored out of my mind in this hospital. The doctors won't even let me go downstairs for a walk. Plus, I have some good news."

"Alright," Anna agreed.

She rushed to the hospital, got a wheelchair, and took Sara to the patient viewing area.

"Sara," Anna started, wanting to ask about Fabio.

But Sara cut her off, "And you say there's nothing between you and Mr. Vittorio. Your lips are so red and swollen, you must've been kissing for ages."

Was it that obvious? Anna thought about that Giorgio was like a hungry wolf last night, never getting enough of kissing her.

Her nose tingled, and she quickly covered her lips. "I just had some spaghetti on my way here, that's all."

Hiding from a friend wasn't right, and feeling guilty was uncomfortable. Anna lowered her hand and sat on a nearby bench.

"I agreed to give it a try with Mr. Vittorio, so I guess we're dating now."

"Oh my God! Really? My ship has sailed! Anna, I love you, you finally took a brave step."

Sara jumped with excitement, but then winced in pain.

"Be careful, calm down, you're more excited than I am," Anna said, concerned. "Are you okay? Do you need me to call the doctor?"

"No, no," Sara said, trying to stay still.

"So, how is it? Dating Mr. Vittorio must be amazing. Is he good to you, very gentle? Being with him must make you feel over the moon."

Anna couldn't deny it. Dating Giorgio felt strange but happy. Sleeping next to him, whose large body enveloping her, was oddly comforting.

But the happier she was, the more afraid she was of losing it.

She sighed, "I don't know if my choice is right. It always feels morally wrong. And now he's on a business trip to Corystania."

Katherine, his wife, was in Corystania. Even if he said he'd resolve it, it was easy for him to end up with Katherine. Like before, to reassure Viviana, he slept with Katherine.

Now that he's over there, he's a mature man, it's hard for him to control himself, and he wouldn't hold back with his own wife.

Thinking about how he kissed her last night, how he might kiss Katherine, made Anna uncomfortable. It felt like a heavy stone was blocking her heart.

"Sara, is caring about someone really that painful?"

Sara's eyes darkened. She had experienced it; it wasn't just painful.

"Caring about someone isn't painful. What's painful is caring and not getting a response. Look at you, just started dating Mr. Vittorio and you're already so downcast. I'm telling you, Mr. Vittorio is great. You must cherish him and hold onto him. Even if you don't end up together, dating such a perfect and noble man isn't a loss."

Anna rolled her eyes.

"Love isn't about gains and losses. If you had thought this way back then, you wouldn't have considered suicide."

Sara said, "Are you mocking me? Let me tell you, after this ordeal, I've truly seen the light. I won't be a simp for love anymore. I want to be carefree. From now on, I won't love douchebags; I'll be an uncommitted womanizer myself. If you don't want to end up like me, keep your heart, keep your distance, let Mr. Vittorio chase you, care about you, and don't fall too deep yourself. That's the way to go far."

She hadn't understood before, loving too deeply, too proactively. In the end, she became someone men could play with at will.

Anna knew Sara was reminiscing about the past and didn't want her to feel sad, so she quickly changed the topic.

"Seeing the light is good. How do I keep my distance and let Mr. Vittorio chase me, care about me?"

Sara said, "That's simple, just ignore him and he'll care. After all, men don't cherish what they have and want what they can't get. Of course, I'm not talking about Mr. Vittorio specifically, just suggesting you shouldn't be too proactive. For example, in a normal relationship, when Mr. Vittorio goes on a business trip to Corystania, you would care about whether he arrived safely, how the weather is there, and worry about him being around other women, sending messages all the time."

She continued, "But doing this might be sweet at first, but it would get annoying over time. So, don't do any of that. Then Mr. Vittorio would start to wonder why there's no news from you. Is she thinking about me? Or is she hanging out with other guys? And then he would take the initiative to contact you, asking how the weather is and telling you not to be around other men."

Was that so? It sounded so logical.

Anna looked at Sara in admiration.

"When did you become a love expert?"

Sara responded, "Thanks to Fabio."

Not far away, Fabio Stefanelli's mouth twitched as he heard the conversation. The woman who had jumped off a building for him, how did her attitude change so suddenly?

He walked straight over.

"What are you saying behind my back?"

Sara was startled! When did he get here?

Anna was even more shocked.

Fabio must have heard her conversation with Sara.

The next second, sure enough, Fabio said to Sara, "I'll talk to you later. Anna, come with me!"

This way, without even looking, she realized he knew! Her heart was in turmoil, nervous, she handed Sara over to the nurse and followed him.

They arrived at a secluded underground parking lot, inside the car.

"Fabio, it's not what you think," Anna began to explain.

Fabio laughed coldly.

"Alright, go ahead, I'd love to hear how dating Mr. Vittorio is not what I think it is."

She initially thought she could explain, but now she wasn't sure if she should say Giorgio pursued her or that she had feelings for Giorgio and they were trying to date.

Saying it out loud felt like a moral outrage!

"Nothing to say? No excuses?"

Fabio's angry, sharp gaze fell on her.

"Anna, I always thought you were heartless, but at least you had morals. I didn't expect you to mess around with your sister's husband. You have no shame. Absolutely no shame! I'm telling you, before I tell our parents and Katherine about this, you better break up with Mr. Vittorio yourself. Otherwise, don't blame me for being ruthless."
