Chapter 355 Alone Time Together?

She really didn't want to go back.

Giuseppe didn't want her to go alone either. "Let's go, I'll accompany you."

"Okay." Anna couldn't refuse, after all, it was a bit ambiguous for her to go see Giorgio alone late at night.

Besides, with Giuseppe around, Giorgio wouldn't do anything to her, right?

Shortly after, they arrived at the private courtyard.

The yard was quiet, with lights on inside the house, but there were no sound of children playing.

Strange, were they usually this quiet?

"Penny? Charlie?" Anna called out softly.

A small voice replied, "Aunt Anna, come in."

Anna glanced at Giuseppe, took a step inside, and then saw two children were lying on the bed inside the warm and simple wooden room. Penny was already asleep, her chubby little hand holding onto Charlie's clothes, sleeping soundly.

"Aunt Anna, be quiet. Don't wake Penny up, let her sleep here."

"Isn't it better if I carry her back carefully?"

"It's okay, Aunt Anna. I promised Penny she could see me when she wakes up tomorrow morning. I don't want to break my promise to her."

Anna found it amusing that Charlie understood the concept of keeping promises at such a young age.

"Oh, Aunt Anna, Daddy didn't eat dinner tonight. He already has a stomach ache, could you please make a bowl of oatmeal to convince him to eat?" Charlie pleaded with doe eyes.

Anna was taken aback.

He was already an adult, he should be able to take care of himself. Why didn't he eat?

Wait, why did it matter to her whether he ate or not?

Shaking off her thoughts, she said, "Maybe he doesn't want to eat because his stomach is upset. You don't need to worry. I'm a bit tired from work today, so I'll go rest. Come early tomorrow morning to pick up Penny, and you should go to sleep too. Goodnight."

"Aunt Anna…" Charlie wanted to say more.

However, Anna left directly with Giuseppe in tow.

Her steps were light, making no sound, as if afraid of disturbing something.

Charlie pouted in frustration.

He said those things to comfort his dad and to encourage them to spend time together, but he didn't expect Anna to refuse.

He absolutely couldn't let his dad know, or he would be even sadder.

Around the corner of the hallway, Giorgio stood tall, expressionless.

He had heard everything, and was she deliberately bringing Giuseppe along to avoid him?

What was even more heart-wrenching was that he had originally wanted Penny to come over to separate them, but now it seemed to create a space for them to be alone together, allowing them to interact intimately?

His handsome and sculpted facial features blurred in the light.

At the Maple Valley Estates, Anna had originally thought living together was no big deal, but after Giuseppe's confession in the morning, and with Penny not around, she suddenly felt nervous.

"Giuseppe, I'm going back to my room to rest. You should sleep early too."

"Could you change my bandage? I forgot to pay attention after my shower, and it's a bit sore now," Giuseppe said as he untied his robe, revealing his body underneath.

Though his physique wasn't as muscular as Giorgio's, with his eight-pack abs, his well-defined lines were still appealing.

She felt shy and averted her gaze. "Okay."

Giuseppe sat on the sofa, watching her scurry around, looking for the first aid kit, then tissues, in a flustered manner, like an ant, and he couldn't help but smile.

Even though they were both adults, why were they still so shy?

However, at her age, was it normal to still be as bashful as a student?

Suddenly, he realized that the seemingly ordinary Anna was actually pure, lively, and interesting.

Not only did Giorgio like her, but he quite liked her too.

He sat there, enjoying the interesting sight of her, letting her tend to his wound.

After about five minutes, his wound was taken care of.

"Giuseppe, the bandage has been changed. There are no signs of infection. You can rest assured." Anna was about to leave when Giuseppe called out to her.

"Anna."

Giuseppe's long and beautiful hand grabbing her wrist.

Anna's breathing quickened, feeling tense and nervous, but she tried to act casual.

"What's wrong?"

Giuseppe said, "You don't have to call me so formally in front of others, it might attract gossip."

So that's what he was talking about.

Anna breathed a sigh of relief. "Okay, in the future, I'll call you dear when others are around?" After all, in this day and age, you can call strangers 'dear' anytime, anywhere. She used to call delivery customers that too, it was easier than using their names directly.

Giuseppe was quite satisfied with her choice of address, smiling politely. "Please sit down, I'll change your bandage for you."

"No need, I changed it last night."

"You've been moving around today, so you should change it." Giuseppe didn't give her a chance to refuse, pulling her down to sit, untying the bandage and tending to the wound.

They faced each other, his robe still unbuttoned.

Anna felt embarrassed, her ears turning red. "Could you please put your clothes back on first?"

Giuseppe lowered his gaze. He was only showing his chest and abs, she was being a bit too conservative.

However, since she had made the request, continuing like this would make him seem like a rogue.

After putting on his clothes, he continued to tend to her wound.

"Your wound is a bit serious. I'll take a day off tomorrow and take you to the hospital for further treatment."

"No need, you're so busy, you don't have to accompany me specially. I can go by myself." Anna really didn't want to trouble him.

Her repeated refusals slightly displeased him.

"Why are you so reserved with me? Although I said we should spend six months together, I also hope you'll be my girlfriend and we can try to get married for real. Do you just want to brush me off?"

Anna did think that way. She couldn't love him, nor could she really stay in the Vittorio family, but, seeing his angry and disappointed face, realizing he was her lifesaver, she couldn't bear to hurt him.

She tactfully said, "No, I didn't expect our relationship to progress so quickly, nor did I expect you to be so serious. It's a bit awkward. Besides, your parents don't like me, and I have my daughter with me. For various reasons, I feel we're not suitable."

"Is it really because of those reasons?" Giuseppe asked skeptically.

Her polite and evasive attitude seemed to indicate that she already had someone in mind. She might not have realized it herself, but he knew.

However, he didn't want to say it outright. Instead, he said, "I'll handle things with my parents. You stay by my side with peace of mind, try to fall in love with me, and take this relationship seriously. I've applied the ointment for you, go rest now."

He was gentlemanly, friendly, and not pushy.

His demeanor made Anna feel even more guilty and remorseful. She thanked him and went upstairs to shower and sleep.

Lying in bed, her thoughts were in turmoil.

How would she face Giuseppe in the future?

How would she respond to him over the next six months?

And in the end, how would she make up for wasting his time?

She couldn't sleep all night.

The next morning, Anna deliberately set her alarm for six thirty in the morning to prepare breakfast.

It was the only thing she could do for Giuseppe at the moment.
