Chapter 474 Anna is Pregnant
"Anna! What's up with you? Doc, get over here and check on my friend!" Sara was freaking out.
In no time, doctors and nurses swarmed in.
Anna's head was all foggy and out of it. She felt herself getting lifted, surrounded by a bunch of noise, and then the doc started working on her while she was still kinda conscious.
Then the doc's voice cut through the chaos. "She's pregnant."
Anna was floored! 'Pregnant? Who's pregnant?' she thought.
The next second, she blacked out completely.
Sara was just as shocked. After the doc finished up with Anna, she finally snapped out of it and chased after him.
"Doc, did you just say my friend is pregnant?"
The doc nodded. "Yep, the tests show she's pregnant. She fainted 'cause she didn't rest well and was stressed out, but there's no major issue. When she wakes up, we'll run more tests."
Sara stood there, stunned. 'Anna's pregnant! Mr. Vittorio's kid?' She was blown away.
She almost called Giorgio with the news but decided Anna should tell him herself, so she held back.
In just half an hour, Sara had milk, fruit, flowers, and some healthy soup, and was busy tidying up the room.
"Sara," Anna woke up groggy and saw Sara bustling around, managing to croak out, "What happened to me?"
That "pregnant" thing had to be a dream, right?
As soon as Sara saw her awake, she rushed over, all excited. "You're pregnant! Pregnant with Mr. Vittorio's baby! Anna, you really kept this from me, huh? You said Mr. Vittorio rejected you? Well done!"
"I really didn't have a thing with Mr. Vittorio. It's impossible for me to be pregnant," Anna blurted out. Then she suddenly remembered something, and her face went pale!
'Could it be that night with Giuseppe?' she thought.
Sara saw her go white and freak out. "What do you mean? You didn't have a thing with Mr. Vittorio, but with someone else? Anna, don't scare me."
Anna didn't want to admit it, but that time at Vista Heights was so long ago, so it couldn't trace that far. And they hadn't been together since.
That night in another city when she was set up by the driver, nothing happened either. So, it had to be that night with Giuseppe.
Realizing that, she said, "I need to see the doc for a detailed check-up."
Anna stood up, shaking with excitement, and stopped her.
"Hey! Anna, you're not well, don't move around! I'll get the doc for you!" Sara held her down and ran out. Soon, the doc came back.
At Anna's insistence, the doc took her for more tests. But the results were clear: pregnant.
"Miss, our tests are accurate. You are indeed pregnant," the doc said firmly and calmly, then added, "You need to stay calm and take care of your health."
After that, Anna didn't hear a word. She walked back to the room, step by step, unable to believe she was really pregnant with Giuseppe's kid after being with Giorgio!
Sara, even if she was slow, got that things were complicated and was super glad she hadn't told Giorgio directly.
Sara tried to comfort her, "Anna, chill. Don't freak out. I'll help you figure this out."
She got Anna settled on the bed, glanced around, and then whispered, "Maybe you should think about, you know, an abortion. No one else knows anyway."
"Sara," Anna cut in. Even though she was lost, helpless, shocked, and anxious, she hadn't thought of that.
Sara said anxiously, "I'm not being heartless. I know the kid's innocent, but a kid born without love is even more tragic."
She added, "Besides, it'll mess up your thing with Mr. Vittorio and your future. Are you sure you can handle that?"
Anna went quiet. Having Charlie and Penny before had already taken a toll on her. Going through it again, she didn't know if she could handle it. But, the kid was innocent, and she didn't regret having Penny.
"Sara, let me think about it, thanks." Her tone was complicated and low.
Sara could tell she was hesitant, sighed helplessly, and sat down silently.
The room was dead quiet. After who knew how long, there was a knock on the door. Giuseppe stood there, all suited up, looking sharp but a bit nervous.
"Mr. Vittorio?" Sara stood up, surprised, and looked at Anna questioningly.
Anna was also shocked, looking at Giuseppe, asking, "Why are you here?"
Giuseppe stepped in, walked straight to the bedside, and looked at her. "You're pregnant?"
He found out so fast!
Sara quickly shook her head at Anna, signaling her not to say anything. Once she said it, as the kid's dad, he'd be involved!
Anna knew this too. Unfortunately, Giuseppe must have had someone follow and investigate her.
"Sara, can you go get the blood test results? I need to talk to Mr. Vittorio alone."
"Okay." Sara reluctantly left.
Before leaving, she didn't forget to give Anna a look. Anna signaled her to chill.
After she left, Anna looked at Giuseppe, saying, "Mr. Vittorio, you knew about my grandma before, and now you're following me to the hospital. This isn't right."
Giuseppe's eyes darkened, and he sat by the bed, explaining, "Anna, if I said I just wanted to protect you, you might not believe it. But being with Uncle Giorgio, Katherine is jealous and might do something stupid."
He added, "So, whether you like it or not, I will protect you. But now, the main issue is your pregnancy."
He was serious and earnest. Anna was momentarily speechless, pursing her lips.
"Mr. Vittorio, since you already know I confirmed it twice at the hospital, there's no need to ask me."
Giuseppe raised an eyebrow. Indeed, he had confirmed it. He said, "You once said you didn't have a thing with Uncle Giorgio. I'm not being obsessive, just surprised."
Anna clenched her hands and said, "I really didn't have a thing with him! So why am I pregnant? Isn't it your fault!"
Anna grabbed whatever was within reach—a pillow, flowers, her phone—and threw them at him, shouting, "Giuseppe, why did you do that to me? Get out! I don't want to see you! Never show up in front of me again!"
A series of curses and a bunch of stuff caught Giuseppe off guard. What did she mean? She thought the kid was his? He didn't go all the way that night. It couldn't be his kid.
Giuseppe was driven to the door by Anna's angry outburst, looking at the utterly distraught Anna, more confused than ever. She didn't seem to be lying, firmly stating she didn't have a thing with Giorgio.
'So what was going on with this kid?' Giuseppe thought.
