Chapter 59 She Was Delicious

Her actions were too sudden.

Her delicate body pressed tightly against his chest, causing a pang of pity.

As a man and Katherine's future husband, Giorgio should have been moved to comfort her, but all he felt was resistance.

But this situation was especially heartless, after all, it was him who forced her back then, causing her to bear Charlie and ruining her life. Morally and emotionally, he owed her.

"Daddy!" Just as Giorgio felt trapped, Charlie, who was on the bed, sat up like a bolt of lightning, his face pale:

"I'm scared..."

Giorgio immediately pushed Katherine away and walked over to embrace the child, comforting him gently, "Don't be afraid, it was just a nightmare."

Charlie sobbed and grabbed onto his clothes, refusing to let go.

How could Katherine not understand? Giorgio was using Charlie's presence as an excuse!

Unfortunately, he didn't want to sleep with her in his heart. If she insisted on staying, it would be too humiliating.

She picked up her clothes.

"Giorgio, why don't you take care of Charlie? I'll go back to the room first."

"Okay." Giorgio watched her lonely figure leave, feeling a tinge of guilt.

He just didn't understand why he couldn't have a reaction towards her anymore.

After Katherine's footsteps disappeared, Giorgio got up, closed the door, and looked at Charlie with deep and unusual eyes. "Why don't you get closer to her?"

Charlie replied, "Because she doesn't have mommy's scent!"

And Anna does?

What kind of logic is that?

But at least Charlie helped him out of the situation, so he didn't delve deeper into it.

In the morning, Katherine prepared a rich breakfast very early. She would never let Anna cook for Giorgio!

When she saw Giorgio and Charlie coming downstairs, she immediately smiled and said, "Good morning, Giorgio, Charlie. Come and have breakfast."

Charlie glanced at the food and didn't seem happy. "I want to eat what Anna makes."

Katherine was annoyed. She had worked hard early in the morning, and all she got was this comment?

"Charlie, that's impolite," Giorgio's low voice sounded. He wouldn't favor Charlie when it came to teaching manners.

Charlie said "Oh" and obediently went over to sit down.

Katherine suppressed her anger and forced a smile. "Giorgio, it's alright. Children are innocent, and maybe it's because I didn't cook as well as Anna. I'll ask her for advice later."

Giorgio made a soft sound of agreement and went to sit down.

The breakfast was very rich, comparable to a five-star restaurant, but for some reason, Giorgio felt that it lacked a certain flavor. He couldn't help but think of the breakfast Anna made in the apartment that day. It was satisfying and pleasant.

It was a taste that was hard to put into words, but if he had to describe it, it would be: right for the palate, right for the heart.

"Good morning." At this moment, Anna came downstairs.

She was wearing a simple white sweatshirt, washed jeans, and casual white shoes, resembling a youthful girl.

Just like the food she made, she was delicious.

Damn, what is he thinking?

Giorgio looked away and continued eating.

Katherine didn't miss the look he just gave Anna, a look she had never received before. She tightened her grip on the chopsticks in her hand. "Anna, come and have breakfast."

As she spoke, she served breakfast to Giorgio, gentle and virtuous, like a wife.

Anna saw the table full of delicious food and exclaimed, "Wow, did you move a breakfast shop into the house?"

Katherine felt proud. She was beautiful and had good cooking skills. One day, she would win over Giorgio's heart.

"Anna, you're exaggerating. I just enjoy studying food in my spare time. I believe it's a happy thing for loved ones to eat the food I make. What do you think?"

Her voice intentionally rose, filled with happiness.

Anna understood Katherine's boasting in her words and smiled dismissively. She and Giorgio had nothing, so no matter how Katherine boasted, she wouldn't feel jealous or mind.

"Well, it's Mr. Vittorio's blessing to find such an outstanding and kind-hearted woman like Katherine."

Katherine didn't expect Anna to react like this again and was so angry that she didn't continue the conversation.

On the other hand, Giorgio, upon hearing Anna's words, felt the atmosphere tense in the room.

Was she so eager for Katherine to become Mrs. Vittorio?

"Um, excuse me for interrupting, but I have an appointment today. I'll take half a day off. Charlie, be good, okay?" Anna said, ready to leave.

Giorgio raised his sharp gaze and asked coldly, "An appointment? To meet Simon?"

"How did you know?" Anna was extremely surprised. She had promised to meet Simon last time, and he messaged her this morning, reminding her, making her feel guilty for forgetting.

Giorgio noticed her surprised yet extremely natural stance, as if meeting Simon was such a happy thing, "You're not allowed to go. I don't have time to take care of Charlie today."

Charlie immediately spoke up, "It's okay, I can take care of myself."

Giorgio thought to himself, "Why wasn't this brat so independent and obedient before?"

Anna took the opportunity to bid farewell and immediately slipped away.

Her figure ran fast and urgently.

Damn, meeting Simon so eagerly?

Giorgio's breath grew heavy.

Katherine didn't expect Anna to be involved with someone as outstanding as Simon, just a countryside girl, on what grounds did he like her?

But for her, this was a good thing.

Katherine's lips curled into a smug smile as she watched the interaction. It was perfect. She couldn't help but feel a sense of relief and satisfaction knowing that Anna's interest in Simon would keep her away from Giorgio. For a moment, she allowed herself to revel in the comfort of this realization.

"Finally," Katherine thought to herself, "someone else has captured Anna's attention. Now maybe she'll keep her distance from Giorgio." She had always felt threatened by Anna's presence, sensing the deep connection between her and Giorgio. It was undeniable that he had a soft spot for Anna, and that had always unsettled Katherine.

But now, Katherine felt a surge of reassurance. As long as Anna's focus was on Simon, perhaps she would be too preoccupied to encroach upon her relationship with Giorgio. For Katherine, it was crucial to secure her place as the one he chose to be with, and she couldn't afford any potential rivals.

Yet, even amidst her relief, there lingered a nagging doubt. What if Anna's feelings for Simon were fleeting? What if she decided to pursue Giorgio once more? Katherine pushed those thoughts away, refusing to let her insecurities get the best of her. She had to believe that this new development would be enough to keep Anna at bay.

As she observed them from afar, Katherine knew that she had to be careful not to reveal her true intentions. She needed to maintain an air of graciousness, to play the part of the loving fiancee, while secretly hoping that Anna's newfound interest in Simon would create the distance she desired.

Inwardly, Katherine vowed to be vigilant. She would do whatever it took to secure her future with Giorgio, even if it meant subtly nudging Anna away from his heart. It was a delicate dance, and she intended to execute it flawlessly, ensuring that her grip on Giorgio remained unshaken.
