Chapter 217 Mr. Vittorio

At this moment, she was holding her head; only a bit of her hair was showing, and no other parts of her could be seen.
During the time that she 'substituted' Katherine, aside from storming out of the bar in a huff, she had truly been working hard.
She successfully played the role of Katherine, using the things Katherine did and doing the things Katherine did, but it wasn't really her.
Suddenly, he felt that he didn't want her to live out even her own birthday as Katherine.
[Prepare two sets, one for dealing with the media, and one that Anna likes.]
Little Tony on the other end of the phone was momentarily speechless.
It seemed as though the boss had taken a liking to Anna.
[Got it; on it.]
...
Anna slept for a very long time; when she opened her eyes again, the sky outside the window was a dusky grey. She sat up and found that there was no one in her hospital room, not even Charlie who was supposed to be sleeping beside her.
Strange, where did they go?
She got up to look for her phone, then shockingly remembered her phone was broken in the cave, causing her to feel a helpless headache coming on.
She also didn't know if she had received any important calls over the past couple of days.
"Anna, you're awake! Daddy and I are back," Charlie's young and joyful voice sounded at this moment.
Anna lifted her eyes and saw Charlie running in, his feet a joyful pitter-patter.
Behind him was the tall figure of Giorgio, dressed simply and wearing a mask, yet still possessing an impressive presence.
"Did you guys go out to buy some stuff?"
"Mm-hmm, we bought dinner for you, Anna, and a new phone too! I picked them out together with Daddy, but Daddy has better taste than I do."
Charlie praised his father while opening the bag.
It was the latest and most advanced smartphone on the market; it was pure white, didn’t have an extra-large screen, looked sleek and pretty, was comfortable to hold, and even her SIM card had already been inserted.
Anna was surprised once more; if she guessed that the clothes were because he knew her size from having touched them... then did he also notice that she liked ordinary mid-sized phones?
It must be a coincidence, right?
"Thank you. How much is it? I'll transfer the money to you." Anna did not want to accept the things he bought for her.
Giorgio glanced at her, placed the meal on the table, and said, "No need."
Anna didn't insist further, "When we get back to Vista Heights, I'll find a new job and pay you back, including returning the card."
She had the hardship fee given by the Stefanelli family for substituting Katherine, enough to take care of Penny herself.
Giorgio's gaze turned somber as he looked at Anna, "You know that's not what I mean."
Of course, Anna knew that wasn't what he meant, but till now, she couldn't understand why he gave her the card.
Initially, she was just taking care of Charlie, which logically shouldn't have led to him giving her this card.
Later, when he and Charlie returned to Crownhaven, he didn't take it back. Even afterwards, he never mentioned it.
Even though he was wealthy, the card held a significant amount of money and was a symbol of his identity, as well as his bottomless wealth.
His giving it to her was overly generous.
Furthermore, she did not want to accept his money.
"Mmm, I know you're not short on money. But after I finish impersonating Katherine, the Stefanelli family will pay me enough for my expenses. Plus, I'm capable of earning money now, so I don't need to use your card anymore."
She spoke politely and earnestly.
It was supposed to be just a matter of returning the card, but Giorgio felt as if it signified a severing of their relationship. Suddenly, his complexion worsened, "As you wish."
Then, he said to Charlie, "Charlie, come and eat."
Charlie was at a loss.
The atmosphere was fine, but suddenly Daddy was unhappy. Was it because Anna wanted to return the card?
It must be because men feel rejected when something they'd given was returned to them.
He mediated, "Anna, just keep it. You don't have to give it back to Daddy. Daddy has given out many cards to others; that one isn’t important."
Anna was shocked.
Many cards? Not important?
Was he this wealthy and casual about it?
And she thought it was only given to her!
"Oh, then I want it even less. I don’t want something that everyone else has," Anna blurted out unintentionally.
She didn't realize her tone carried a tinge of rejection and displeasure.
Giorgio's expression grew even worse.
She didn’t want something that others had? She accepted every bit of help Simon had given her in the past.
The atmosphere became momentarily tense.
Anna stopped talking and went over to eat, turning on her mobile phone as she did.
Upon activating it, she got a shock.
Goodness, Sara had left 22 missed calls! Simon had made 3!
There were also a bunch of unread voice messages!
"Anna, what's going on?"
"Penny says the Katherine on the news is you; I'm totally confused."
"She was crying and insisting on calling Mr. Dalio, and after the call, she still wasn't reassured. Now I'm taking her to find Mr. Dalio."
"If you don't reply soon, Mr. Dalio is going to bring Penny to Crownhaven to look for you."
Oh dear...
They were all a series of messages, all expressing inquiry and urgency.
After listening, it occurred to Anna that Penny knew she was impersonating Katherine. So, Penny absolutely knew about the news of her injury and unconsciousness! She quickly took out her phone and made a video call to Simon.
"Mommy!" As soon as the call connected, a tearful Penny with a red nose and crimson eyes appeared on the screen.
Simon was holding her, his gentle face showing obvious worry and eyebrows furrowed in concern.
"How are you feeling? Penny has been fussing about seeing you. I've booked a flight for tonight at 9 o'clock; I’m planning to bring her over to see you."
Anna's heart melted, "I'm okay. Penny. Sweetie, Mommy really is alright now. Look, Mommy is all well and having dinner with Charlie."
Charlie immediately leaned into the camera, comforting her, "Don't cry, little girl. If you cry too much, your nose will get big and it won't be pretty. I will protect Anna and take good care of her."
Sitting quietly off to the side the whole time, with a somber expression, Giorgio glanced at the little girl in the video.
Unexpectedly, his heart seemed to be struck by a heavy blow, suddenly feeling pained.
Weird, why did he feel this heartache upon seeing her cry?
Penny sniffled, wiped her watery eyes, and said with a shaky little voice, "Mommy, I'm glad you're okay. I thought you had gone to sleep like Snow White and wouldn't wake up to be with me anymore, and I would have no mommy."
"It won't happen, Mommy just fainted from a little problem and woke up in the hospital. I didn't answer the phone because my cell was broken and turned off. Don't worry, Mommy will never leave you~~"
Anna explained softly, uttering every word with motherly love.
Reassured, Penny blinked her eyes, "I'm glad you're okay, Mommy. Can I come to see you? My future daddy has already booked the tickets."
Anna hesitated.
According to Rizzo, Katherine would wake up in at most two days, and it was a critical time. If something went wrong during this crucial moment...
But Penny was so sad and had cried all day; Anna felt heartbroken and wanted to comfort her. Besides, how upset would Penny be if she refused?
"Just come over; I'll make arrangements."
While Anna was caught in a dilemma, a man's deep, steady voice rang out.
Authoritative, decisive in every way.
She looked up and met his unusually dark, profound eyes, which seemed to be shrouded in deep fog, truly inscrutable.
What was happening? Shouldn't he be acting cautiously? Why would he want Penny to come now?
